Anesthetize live Tilburg. Great drums. But: Hatesong live Chicago (same show as this song you reacted to) has even more amazing drums. Gavin Harisson goes absolutely nuts on that one! Also: they are best served live. I know from personal experience (seen them live many times) their live performances are even more amazing than their albums.

Dude, great reaction to Porcupine Tree, you started out of sight, the biggest bullshit, hits of this great band for true music connoisseurs ... I've been listening to them since 1999, when my friend recommended them to me, I fell in love at first. ..Steven Wilson is an underrated multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer and I, all of us who listen to them, can be glad that we can listen to, watch and go to concerts of such a genius. There's a lot ahead of you because this unique musician is absolutely great at everything he does. I've seen Porcupine Tree play live twice, I've seen Steven Wilson play solo about three times, an incredible experience, it can't be described in words ... a new album is coming out in June and I'm going to a concert in Stuttgart in November, I can't wait, go somewhere to concert, you will not regret it. Try to listen to everything from the very beginning to the solo stuff of Steven Wilson ... No-man, Blackfield, solo stuff, remasters the old records of the biggest bands of all time ... e.g. Yes, Jethro Tull, etc. just keep going, good luck.

They have sooo many amazing songs, I’ve narrowed it down to some of my fav.: “Time Flies”, “Sleep Together”, “Russia on ice”, “Even less” (the long version from the “Recordings” album) and “Anesthetize”. You HAVE to check out Steven Wilson’s solo work too as it’s equally amazing e.g: “Ancestral”, “Deform to form a Star” and “Harmony Korine” to name a few.

The luminary for Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, who is the songwriter, lead guitarist, sometime keyboardist, and lead vocalist, never described Porcupine Tree as his band. Instead he called it a "project". The style is progressive rock. Wilson grew up listening to Yes and Genesis. In his spare time in recent years, he has remastered several Marillion albums. Porcupine Tree is progressive rock in the fashion of Yes and Genesis, combined with a lot of ennui and a smidgen of metal. Wilson overlaid dual guitars in the studio, and on this tour enlisted another prog guitarist with fine vocal skills, John Wesley, to reproduce the second guitar lines and provide the vocal harmonies that Wilson had himself supplied on the studio cuts. When Wilson tired of this project, which never took off commercially (who listens to prog in the '90's, or in this century?), he went solo and produced some fine music that was more accessible to the mainstream and finally achieved some wider fame for himself, at least in England. His solo stuff is worth a reaction, especially "Drive Home". The drummer in this video, Gavin Harrison, went on to become the drummer for King Crimson. Due to the abandonment of progressive rock by the general music-listening public, bands like Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard, Marillion, IQ, The Flower Kings, and many others have labored for decades, learning their craft in relative obscurity. Together these bands are cubbyholed as "neo-progressive". Yes, the musicianship and songwriting is spectacular. Why shouldn't it be? They've been writing and performing for decades to little public acclaim, and traveling all over the world playing small-venue tours. And, so, we have young men and women like you discovering this magic you had no clue ever existed.

You are about to go down the rabbit hole of porcupine tree. Amazing band. Steve Wilsons solo music is also amazing. Gavin harrison is probably the best technical drummer there is and as recommended by others, anethatise live in Tilberg should be your next listen, Gavins drumming especially over 17 minutes is outstanding.

I have no idea why this reminded me of IMAX. like nothing in common at all, but The same way I had never heard of this (which is insane, I know) I think IMAX is almost a nobody on KZbin.
