Welcome to the rabbit hole of Queen...step in, buckle up and enjoy the ride...Queen is Freddie Mercury-piano/vocals, Brian May-guitar/vocals, Roger Taylor-drums/vocals, John Deacon-bass/some back vocals...all four wrote, Queen can not be boxed into any genre of music, their sounds are unique...older songs like WHITE QUEEN live at Hammersmith, IN THE LAP OF THE GODS (revisited) live at the Rainbow and STONE COLD CRAZY live at the Rainbow, SOMEBODY TO LOVE live at Wembley, LOVE OF MY LIFE live at Wembley and in RIO...LIVE AID 20min of Queen, whom by the way stole the show...Queen fans will guide you along on this journey.

I would advise to listen to studio recordings before listening and watching stadium performances. There's registers in Freddie's voice that are missing in live performances, plus the studio productions are brilliantly crafted masterpieces. Killer Queen was their first commercial success in Australia at least.
@trishc30992 жыл бұрын
@@scottwatson9453 Yes, there are some of their songs that just can't be done live well. In my opinion Bohemian Rhapsody is one of those. However, as a generality, I have to disagree and say exactly the opposite. Skip the studio versions of Save Me and Somebody to Love. White Queen. Love of My Life. Those are just a drop in the Queen bucket. Go straight to the lives.
@johngray342 жыл бұрын
Right on Sister. I was fortunate enough to get to see these guys live three different times in the 70's. They were better every time I saw them and that's saying a LOT!!! Nobody could match their energy and precision on stage and nobody... (I've seen a lot of different bands, I grew up in the 60's and 70's)... nobody had Freddie. He was not only unique, but he was a brilliant musician and a truly captivating showman. White Queen at the Hammersmith is proof of that. Brian's best song.

The operatic and the hard sections of Bohemian Rhapsody (pronounced Bo-he-me-an Rap-so-de) played a big role in a car scene from the 1991 movie "Wayne's World". So much so that they re-released the song. It was officially first released in the U.S. in 1976 and it rose to number 9 on the Billboard chart. Then it was re-released in 1992 where it now rose to number 2 on the Billboard chart in the U.S. It was number one in the U.K., Canadian, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and the Netherlands charts in 1975 and sold over 2.36 million copies worldwide (that is physical seven-inch 45 rpm vinyl records). Bohemian Rhapsody was included on Queen's fourth album, "A Night At The Races" which sold over six million copies worldwide and became Queen’s first Platinum-selling album in the US. (Queen was primarily known as an album band.) "Bohemian Rhapsody" remains one of the best-selling singles in the world. Queen is a British rock band that was formed in 1970 and was comprised of: Freddie Mercury - Lead vocals and piano Roger Taylor - Drummer and vocals Brian May - Lead guitar and vocals John Deacon - Bass guitar Queen was one of the most influential groups in the 20th century. All four members of Queen were amazingly talented musicians but all four members of Queen were talented composers and each wrote songs that became hit singles. The influence of Queen is still felt in the music world, including in Hip Hop and Rap. Have you ever heard the song, "We Are The Champions"? Yep, it too is a Queen song. It was written by Freddie Mercury and was released on the same single as "We Will Rock You" written by Brian May. Though the songs are not really related in any way, they both were written specifically to be audience participation songs, Queen loved their audiences to join in with them during live concerts and Freddie Mercury had the special power that could draw the audience in. Freddie not only had an amazingly versatile voice with a 4-octave range (he could sing anything), he was probably the best frontman ever. Freddie connected with the audience. His awesome stage presence along with his charisma and flamboyant musical style captivated Queen audiences that were as large are over 250,000 in one concert. Queen's studio recordings are marvelous but their stage performance at their live concerts performances are even better (this was before autotune or any other electronic enhancements).

Fantastic description and narrative of Queen. Thanks for that. One small correction. Bohemian Rhapsody did appear on their fourth album but it was "A Night at the Opera". Next album was "A Day at the Races". 🙂

Haha!) the movie Shaun of The Dead, it was Don't Stop Me Now, a good movie, A Knight's Tale, had We Will Rock You. Bohemian Rhapsody was in Wayne's World. You never know when Freddie's wonderful voice is going to hit you in a movie. How prophetic his words turned out to be. "I won't be a rock star. I'll be a legend" ~ Freddie Mercury ~ RIP Mr. Farenheit

Freddie Mercury was working on three songs at once when he had the genius inspiration to combine them into this epic masterpiece. When you're watching games, listen for "We are the Champions" at the end, that's Queen also. There was a small section that was used in "Wayne's World" but this is their original music, written by Freddie in 1975.

Pink Floyd: Money, comfortably numb, Time, Another brick in the wall, Wish you were here. (Deep lyrical band with trippy acid vibe and a sound that is hard to out into a different a rock genre. Styx: Come sail away, fooling yourself, too much time on my hands, Mr roboto, blue collar man, renegade. (Another hard to categorize genre band, lots of synthesizers, piano, rock guitar and maybe power ballads) Iron Maiden: “heavy metal warning” the trooper, hallowed be thy name, powerslave, wasted years, run to the hills, number of the beast. (Easy to categorize, best heavy metal band ever. Performances are great but lyric videos are suggested. Lots of guitar rifts and dramatic vocals. Rage against the machine. Lyric videos. And Beatles of course, they do or created every rock genre.
