The song was written by John Deacon around the time he really began to break out of his shell. He was a very quiet person and often hid in the back if the spotlight. But he did have many amazing tracks. I Want To Break Free, Another One Bites The Dust, You're My Best Friend, Friends Will Be Friends, and many more amazing songs were all written by John Deacon.
@OlJackBurton6 жыл бұрын
Friends Will Be Friends was co-written with Freddie. He also wrote One Year Of Love, In Only Seven Days and You And I. Spread Your Wings is my favorite Deacon song, especially the Maida Vale studio version, which makes it one of my very favorite Queen songs as well.

Written by bassist John Deacon, for the video Queen dressed in drag as characters from British soap opera Coronation Street. Freddie performed this in drag live once in a European country and the audience boo'd, because they didn't understand the drag. The song for them was a symbol of breaking free from the oppression they had felt as a country.
@martinputt64216 жыл бұрын

White Queen (As It Began) is one of my very favorites! And i really mean it despite really liking so many of their songs, like hands down top 5 or even top 3. But i think live at the Rainbow 1974 is even better than the Odeon (which is still very good). The piano/guitar duet between Freddie and Brian (this song was definitely one of Brian's dear babies) in that version was absolutely amazing and one of the few times where i will say that the live version absolutely blows away the studio version (and there were two studio versions, of which the second one was better, Langham Studio aka BBC).

And to think you have just scratched the surface of great Queen songs. At this point I have to upgrade my March of the Black Queen request to a full on black side first listen of Queen 2. I will be as bold as to say it is possibly the best side of any Queen album. A Night at the Opera comes close with BoRap and Prophet Song (which you also must hear) on side 2. Highlight songs on black side are Ogre Battle, Fairy Feller's Master Stroke and March of the Black Queen. Freddie was once asked if he wanted to be a rock star. He replied that he would not be a rock star. He would be a legend. Status achieved. Happy Birthday Freddie! You will never be forgotten.
@OlJackBurton6 жыл бұрын
Did you just notice how different so many of their songs sound? Even from the same album? Well besides Freddie's unmistakable voice and the other members' amazing musicianship? There's definitely something from Queen for everyone. I Want To Break Free was written by John Deacon. "Deaky" may have written the least of the group, but almost everything he wrote was golden. Once you get familiar with Queen's body of work, you should be able start recognizing which songs were written by which member. John's songs were often light lyrically, with as you said, feel good elements, and of course strong bass riffs. Freddie's songs often had much more complex melodies and lyrics as well as innovative and brilliant musical ideas. Roger's songs were often the least serious and even campy (although Freddie also had a lot of camp in him) as well as a heavier drumming element, although his later work was noticeably more poignant. And Brian was the intellectual of the group, literally a PhD astrophysicist (although all four members were musical geniuses), with elaborate and heartfelt stories in his songs as well as the most hard rocking themes. Amazing songwriters and musicians, all of them.

FREDDIE IS ABSOLUTE BEST OF ALL ROCK ARTISTS. SO MUCH RESPECT HIM + HIS GREAT & GOD GIVEN TALENT. He also had a most kind heart. Freddie was raised in Zorastorean religion. I prayed one day wanting to know if Freddie had ever understood Christ. And he did! He wrote 2 songs about Christianity way prior to his crescendo of fame. People in music industry - which i am familiar with- are surrounded by gluttonies of every type- sometimes pure evils hard to even imagine- all on a silver platter to choose from- guess the platter could be called: 'The 7 Deadly Sins' on steroids.) Freddie had even stated the Fame & what came with it was difficult & for a while lived life in a debaucherous way- who wouldnt when faced with what he had b4 him?) Freddie actually wrote 2 songs about Jesus. "MAD THE SWINE" and "JESUS". (As a Christian I do believe Christ was & IS, the very LAST final sacrifice for each of our sins & that in pureness of heart we must give HIM our sins- asking for forgiveness B4 GOD- Ive received that forgiveness which is a vety real thing that transpires with the new believer & the LORD Himself. My own expetience & long researched opinion.) ( I FURTHER feel that Freddie couldnt have written those 2 songs without an understanding of what Christs sacrifice was about.) It angers me to see post of Chrisyians who will say 'this person in hell'..? Thats so untrue. Its possibly but Bible states 'NO man knows ehat between GOD & anotgers heart") Jesus states weve until our last breath to ask Him2Become our Savior & we dont know where anothers heatt stands B4 God Himself. SO.... i prayed to know if Freddie in his final days had talked with Jesus and asked for forgives+ telling Jesus he believed) (My prayer: "Jesus- please somehow let me know that Freddie is with You, with his human sins forgiven and now is gloryfying YOUR name in heaven".... and then no more than 15seconds later ... As i ended listening to Freddie sing on KZbin: & then rolled the production company name on the screen- right as my prayer ended along with the song: I was amazed AND did a double take to clarify in my mind what i just saw. The name of. production company was THXGOD. Coincidence?? Or small miracle of GOD sharing with me that indeed Freddie is in heaven? I pray this to be so. I think it honestly was God answering my prayer.
