The last thing Freddie sang was in the studio, recording all he could before he died, telling the rest of the band that they had to finish it - which became the album, "Made in Heaven". The last of his recording was for the track, "Mother Love". If you listen to that song, the final verse is sung by Brian May, because before Freddie could record that last verse he felt too weak and said he had to go, but would come back and finish up later (he never did, shortly after dying of AIDS related pneumonia). He'd been propping himself up at the mixing desk and knocking back shots of vodka to keep himself going. The vocals he managed to pull off were amazing. Have a listen to "Mother Love" x

Richard Stiles you really don't know who she is do you.. at the time she was the premier female opera singer in the world, so don't denegrate her talent through ignorance. I'm a huge queen fan, saw them live on numerous occasions, both together and individually, plus have every single and album they releasrd together and individually, so I do know a bit about them. People who try to put down what they know nothing about are the most ignorant. Freddie had problems with his voice on occasions pure as it was.. Montserrat Caballero trained hers from her early teens, and helped Freddie when he had problems with his as they became great friends.
@hollyodell40126 жыл бұрын
@@tollyt7465 yeah, as a trained opera singer, who wasnt really aware of him, it makes sense she might be a little skeptical about singing a duet with someone who's known for singing rock. That kind of vocal range and power and phrasing takes most people many years to master. She was immersed in the world of opera. The fact that she was willing to step out of that world and collaborate with a rock idol was actually very broad-minded of her. Probably a lot of snooty opera singers that wouldn't have even considered it. I think they were probably honored to sing with each other.

Freddie wrote this operetta for her; to get her to sing with him. When you began this "reacts to Queen" experiment, did you think for a moment that this one band would, or indeed even could, take you on grand tour of so many genres of music? Rock, Metal, Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Opera, Pop, Spoken Word, Rockabilly, Classical, Crooning, and so many many more. This... THIS is why Queen was and still is so beloved 50 years later.

Joey, I’ll bet when you began this journey you didn’t imagine you’d be sitting here listening to opera! LOL. That’s the journey Freddie is taking you on, as he took us all when he was alive. Backstory: Freddie was a lover of opera (and ballet) and attended live performances. He saw the Spanish diva Montserrat Caballe on stage and was enamored with her talent. He expressed an interest in collaborating with her. She got wind of it and contacted him, set up for them to meet in Barcelona (hence this song which Freddie wrote about that meeting), they stayed up through the night into the wee morning hours, talking and singing. Freddie thought she might agree to collaborate on one song with him. Well, she fell in love with him right there and then. She asked how many songs were on an album, Freddie said around 10 or so and she said let’s do an album together! Freddie was like, oh sh*t! Now I have to write an entire operatic album! 🙀 The album is also titled Barcelona. The rock/opera crossover had never been done at that point before. Freddie and Montserrat were the first and made music history. Imagine a clean-shaven Freddie in a killer tuxedo on stage with Montserrat in her flowing gown singing that song as in the video. Leave it to Freddie.
@neuralmute6 жыл бұрын
You can really see in the video how much they enjoy singing together, and how well they play off of each other. And yes, Freddie looks amazing in that midnight blue tux, while Montserrat floats about in her pale blue, covered with sparkling crystals. They compliment each other so well!

Freddie wrote this song for the 92 Barcelona Olympics and he convinced Monserat Caballe to hear the song out by Freddie singing her parts of the song. She was so impressed she did the song with him

Freddie wrote this because he loved her voice and she was the number one female opera singer in the world. Actually, he just wanted to get a tape of her voice singing one of his songs but she enjoyed working with him so much that she talked him into the writing and performing the entire album.

Hi Joey. I subscribed. Love it that you're exploring Queen's music. Love it that you appreciate Freddie Mercury's voice and showmanship. Love it that you seem like a nice guy. You ask for suggestions.... When possible use live concerts for Queen songs. You did Who Wants to Live Forever recently. The live versions (like Wembley in '86) are SO much better than the studio versions without all of the instruments distracting from the power and purity of Freddie's voice. I don't know how to post a link. Too bad. There are so many you tube videos of Freddie's first demos of the songs that he wrote for him and Monserrat Caballe. In the first versions that he sent her for input and feedback he sang his AND her parts. Incredible. I'd suggest checking out cuts from the concerts in Budapest, Montreal, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Wembley in '86. Comment is too long already. Bye, and thanks.

Joey, filled my heart to watch you loving this, wherever we are from and whatever our backgrounds, music has the ability to transcend everything and give a shot of pure joy. Love the channel, there are many react channels out there but I get only sincerity from you and no BS.
