Thankyou so much for the reaction video man, was great to watch. Loved hearing your take on my song :) Just came across your channel and subscribed!! I really connected to what you said at the end and I think precisley the fact that you're aware of your imposter syndrome and are able to articulately break it down for me highlights one reason why so many people are watching what you do! Takes alot of self awareness to admit that and people like and respect honestly and authenticity and I think to admit that is as honest as it gets! Have a great day man! Looking forward to checking out more of your stuff ❤

MrLboyd is.... just different. Well spoken, insightful, respectful, honest, open, and genuinely (one of a) kind. I saw this video (Hi Ren) a week ago and I KNEW it was going to be huge and have just been waiting for the "big" reactors to pick it up... seeing this video I literally said out loud "Oh F* YES, here we GO!" because once it's here, I know others will react to it in hopes they can be a tenth as authentic as MrLboyd... I hope you both know how much you are changing, and are going to change, people's lives for the better. As some like to say: Congratulations.

He does something that I've never heard before, his last musical phrase of the song, in his final stanza he doesn't do the downbeat and the last vocal "oo", instead he uses a full rest. No minor chord question or full chord answer, it just stops mid way. It makes your soul long to "know" what's going on, musically speaking, so his final soliloquy completed it. THAT is genius.

I keep thinking what it must have been like to be around when Shakespeare was. He had to be surrounded by other people that knew what he knew, but they could only do parts of it themselves. And then you see somebody put all the peices together at the same time and everybody has a big picgure moment together and 6 or 7 hundred years later we get to do it again.

I think folks watch you 1. Because you have a great speaking voice. Your voice has a rich timbre to it, your enunciation is very clear, your voice is soothing. 2. You give great reactions to the songs you listen to. 3. Your honesty is very refreshing. I'm two reaction videos in, and I'd like to hear more. 4. Your personality is very cool; you come across as not having a pretentious bone in your body.

I will add that the fact Mr. Lboyd has traveled extensively, shows as a wider understanding of things, compared to someone who has a narrow understanding shaped by contact with limited number of points of view. I know people who don't have the opportunity to travel don't mean to be narrow minded, I grew up like that, but in my experience to expand one's criteria one has to read and one has to travel. Mr. Lboyd seems to have both, making his comments wiser and deeper.

"Hi Ren" is a masterpiece. For many years to come, this will be a reference showing how a performance can draw attention to issues. This track, and Ren's delivery, will help a LOT of people. Both those suffering with mental illness, and those who try to understand it. It is a mind- and heartseeking missile. As for your Imposter Syndrom: A person I highly respect once told me (and I'm not sure if he stole it somewhere ;)): "Why bother to fit in, when you were born to stand out". You, Sir, stand out. That is the reason we listen to what you say. All the best, from Denmark

"What you're finding intriguing about me is really just my oddness." This is spot on actually, because a lot of us are odd too so we see ourselves in you-and that's not a bad thing. You're authentic. And really, the oddness and authenticity is what make "Hi, Ren" great too. There's a large portion of our culture that is just fed up with the fakeness and lies and just wants to connect with people in real ways. Speaking of which, I'm never disappointed when I see you reacting to something I love, and this was no different :)

13:38 - Ren is a busker from the streets of London, frontman of The Big Push. He's been dealing with Lyme Disease (the autoimmune disease) for years now. Yes, this was one take ( as far as I know.) There's a video from Ren talking about the inspiration for the video, and a video from Ren when he was on the very edge of suicide. Ren is a virtuoso and a genius, without a doubt. Check out the Tale of Jenny and Screech (Full.) 17:00 - I'm here because of how you think and how you react, you are insightful and speak from both the heart and the mind. I have been looking forward to this reaction since I first encountered this song on another livestream. You caught so much, and I love how much it touched you. I had a strong reaction like you on hearing "Hi Ren". My imposter syndrome was wondering why people cared about me like I was something or someone special. 10 years ago I was diagnosed with MS and have struggled through it with the help of my friends who I constantly felt I was letting down and not worthy of their care, I was just me, and was my worth, worth their care. I started looking inward and back to better days and in the process, I missed the here, and the now as I battled with people who did care no matter how I viewed my worth. Eventually, the depression that was killing me and my friendships lifted just a little and I saw that I could right this if I dropped the facade of being strong and openly accepted help. I realised that accepting help is not weak. So hope can be "the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope." a lyric that resonates and it can be as simple as a friend who cares. If you feel no one cares believe me when I say I care.

I love that early into the song the "dark" Ren spat at "light" Ren and told him to drown in the white noise at 3:51, then at 10:28 "dark" Ren goes off and becomes that white noise to try to drown out the message of hope "light" Ren is representing. The lights flickering while "dark" Ren is active is pretty dope, too.

This is the first one of your reaction videos that I have seen, primarily because I too was blown away by this artist and track. Your response mirrored mine when I first saw this a day ago. I couldn't really believe what I was hearing ... if a song can be perfection, perfection in lyrics, prefection in musicality, perfection in timing, perfection in conveying feeling and most importantly perfection in touching the listener's very soul ... this song is it! BTW, your voice is so melodic and soothing that it makes listening along enjoyable. Keep on reacting.

Thank you for you wonderful review. It was amazing to join you as you discover what is so special about this song. Thank you also for sharing your own vulnerability. I wanted to share it with you, because you are genuine and thoughtful and open, and because I thought that you attract people who will appreciate Ren. He is a stunning alround musician, great performer, deep thinker and brilliant storyteller. He has a power like Bo Burnam in 'Welcome to the Internet'. People below already mentioned two brilliant follow ups for Ren: 'The Tale of Jenny and Screech' and Chalk Outlines. Ren is about to self release a new album called sickboi.

You asked why people watch you, and I can only answer for myself. Your JOY of music is one, and a succinct analysis of music always teaches me something I didn't notice or didn't know. And you have introduced me to music I probably wouldn't have found otherwise. Imposter or not - you are a joy to watch. So thank you for introducing me to Ren as well - what a bard!

There aren't many songs that contain lyrics that can my the hairs on my arms stand up. But when Ren goes off, it happens. Bravo. This is genius level stuff here. In regards to your question of why people watch you. Of course I can only speak for myself, but I watch you because you come across as just a real person. Not a persona or character. Also, I like the perspective you give on these reaction videos. Often times I agree with you, but not always. But even when we disagree, I can still respect the info you bring, and sometimes even I see where maybe I was mistaken and learn something. I watched this video in particular because I wanted to see if I was over reacting with how amazing I think this song/video is. But after watching your reaction, we feel the same way. Keep it up and I'll keep watching!

I've just watched you from Australia because I'm watching every Ren review I can find and watching your face as Ren takes you on a wild ride. And I loved watching you get hooked just like me. You hear the words but you experience this performance and you understand it and value it like we do. Ren is a genius and we can't get enough of him. Your other brain is the reason I relate to you. And why I relate to Ren. The genius is there to see and feel for those who feel and for those who feel too much. I've subscribed. Thank you.

Thank you for reacting to Ren. His brain/heart/emotion and hurt need to be remembered. My daughter has Aspergers, I have ADHD, and he sings them all into our hearts with humility and raw truth. He's a child of the inner, deeper world of human beings. He is us. We are him. Thank you for helping Ren to make it where he deserves to be. He was found by Sony when he was busking and dropped by them when he became too sick. But by sickness and illness makes the best songs and tunes. I remember Alison Moyet saying that her best songs were written when she was heartbroken. It matters. You matter. We matter. HE matters. If he leaves us we must forever hail his talent. Such a brain should never be dimissed. Watch some of his other stuff.

I found you through this video. I had found Ren recently through my recommendations. This song exactly. And it was an experience for me. where it touched my heart through all it's genius. The guitar playing inspired me because I play guitar well and I love the epic folk/storytelling style of playing and I just don't encounter that anymore. Anyways. I also freestyle rap daily for the last 3 years. So I'm definitely getting better there and I love the mix of these elements along with using his voice as an instrument in the intro/outro. Like you said the guy is a genius and the rest of his music is also right up there with this song. Like I said I have already seen this video a lot since I found it. But I showed a few of my good friends it and it just didn't have the same effect on them and their reaction to it was negative and ultra critical when I feel they didn't even give it a chance to begin with. So when u showed up in my recommendations. I needed to see if I was the only one with this love for the skills and struggle. By watching you I feel complete now but not 100% because I also have trouble forgetting anything. I'm cursed and blessed with the same stuff you have. So now I'll make my way to 100% complete by watching you. Great minds think alike. So you got my subscription and bell hit. So now I look forward to see more of your content. No 🧐 doubt

Ren's the literal actual best. And yes, nearly all of his videos (including this one) are one-takes using the live audio in the final product. You should check out Money Game, Money Game pt 2, and all three of Jenny's Tale/Screeches Tale/Violet's Tale.

Artists spend far too much time worrying about being derivative, I experience it myself. It's a hard thing to overcome. If artists could abandon self doubt and imposter syndrome they would have more time to create freely and from that comes true art. I feel like Ren is doing that with this song, and that's probably why it resonates so much with so many people. Loved you reaction to this.

Your reaction is my favourite. You got it in the same way I feel we all did. He's a genius for sure. He took us on a journey from beginning to end, and it was a flawless performance. I could feel his pain and his joy. Amazing!

Discovered this a few weeks ago and thought it was brilliant, even initiated a few reactions (not on your channel though as I never seem to get through without a dono - no blame on you, just an observation, guess your channel is just too big, and you deserve it..). All the more I appreciate you found your way to this and posted it on New Years Eve, good start into 2023... check his trilogy "The Tale of Jenny', 'The tale of Screetch' and 'The Tale Of Violet', three songs that are connected to each other brilliantly but you only find out how when listening to the ending of 'Violet'... - very well done one shot videos as well... - dark stuff, but real and compassionate, and I agree: we need more artists like Ren... Thanks, happy new year to you and all who may read this, have an amazing day and enjoy it - thoroughly! Peace and love from Bavaria! 💗💗💗

The reason I've always watched you is because I just get the sense that everything you say is really what you think, and I find your analyses interesting. Now today I find out that you have Asperger's too LOL. So it's a kindred way that you talk and apparently probably some kind of similar facial expressions to the other people I've met with Asperger's around whom I feel comfortable as well. Thanks for sharing that you're on the spectrum too. :) Anyway so about Ren, anyway so about Ren, I just heard him for the first time about an hour ago and was shockingly impressed. So I typed in your channel and his name to see if you had reacted to it and presto, here we are! Anyway man, great too hear that you had a similar reaction and high respect for this masterpiece "Hi Ren". Lovee when you said "bars" to the pendulum light darkness lyric, as i felt a similar respect for his poetic words. Then i hear you mention Asperger's and i smiled with recognition as the puzzle pieces snap into place. Always a pleasure to hear your reactions, good sir. Keep being you. :)

I came across his song for the first time today. I was shocked at how well he captured, and verbalized his struggle. It’s really refreshing to hear a song that so many people can relate to that actually puts into words how they may feel. I’m a medically retired Marine and I’ve spent decades trying to articulate my experiences and emotions. It takes a great deal of introspection to do what he’s done. The world seriously needs more of this!
