Yep, that's his voice and he was only about 21 at the time. He's been busy the last few years after all the 'Rick Rolled' got him all the internet attention. His voice, now that he is older, is better than ever and he's just as good singing live too IMO.

RIck Astley is such a sweet guy. If you ever see his interviews, you will pick that up right away. He is full of soul, as this guy says. His voice is deeper than what you would expect from such a baby face. He is now 54 but looks significantly younger.

One enhancement that was used in various recordings from various artists was the pitch corrector and that was only on certain notes that may have been off tune, but I don't think Rick Astley needed it 😁

He probably would have continued to have a successful career, but he decided to leave the music business. His comeback album, "50" was released a few years ago for his 50th birthday and it is great! about two years later he released a follow-up album which isn't quite as good but his voice sounds exactly the same. I saw him in concert in Los Angeles and he was amazing. He's also an incredible drummer. He ended the show with Hghway to Hell by AC/DC on which he played the drums and sang.

Yeah that's him, amazing vioce, the story is he was working as a tea boy in a recording studio, someone overheard him singing while working and signed him up, before that he'd never sung in public.

I remember back in the day, ( am 45 ), when my mom heard this for the 1st time on the radio. She thought it was Billy Ocean, another great artist from the 80's, who was black. She brought this album & when she got it, she thought it was a mistake. And it was a record! 🤣🤣 Then, she played it! She couldn't believe he was a cute little Brit & white to boot! Rick Astley is the bomb, still is! Listen to his latest Gospel album. It's beautiful & his voice is even better with age! He is now 57, looks exactly the same & is just an all around GREAT GUY! 🥰
