This is one of the best 'feel good' pieces of music ever, it just never gets old - even after 36 years. Driving down a desert highway in an old classic open top sports car just about sums up the whole vibe. Check out 'Living on the Ceiling' by Blancmange, from a couple of years earlier

@@lordessducky8494 They've been about to put out that new album for a few years. I think Roland's wife passed away last year (or maybe the year before that). So that may be one reason for delay. Whatever they release, whenever they get around to it, will be excellent even if it doesn't make it to mainstream. Have you heard Roland's Tomcats Screaming Outside album released in 2001? If not, you should look that up. It was excellent and got no attention.

The first guy is Curt Smith. He's a masterful bassist. The other one is Roland Orzabal. Roland is the main lead but they trade. Roland is an excellent song writer and lyricist. Thanks for checking them out. They have several albums full of great stuff and like the Bee Gees they switch up the sound with each album. I've been a devoted fan since the early 80's.

Loved your comment! It's so true that the sound changes in every album, they keep re inventing themselves. Good comparison with the Bee Gees, so many different sounds. I am a huge fan of Bee Gees since my teenage years and now a huge fan of Tears for Fears as an adult. And I think that what got me hooked to both bands is their chameleonic sound

I love seeing the joy in your face as the song started having the affect on you which it has on me each time I listen to it and I cannot even begin to estimate how many times that might be since I first heard it way back in 1985. It doesn’t get much better IMO, pop perfection. I loved this band with their first album “The Hurting” which preceded the album “Songs From The Big Chair” which included this amazing song. The album was a #1 smash on the Billboard US album chart and this song hit #1 on the Billboard US Singles chart. The follow up single “Shout” also hit #1 on the singles chart and is an epic song in its own right. I personally love the third single off the album which was “Head Over Heels”. It’s another standout song both vocally and instrumentally. Plus, it’s got a really interesting video to boot. I highly recommend you do a reaction video for it. And if you want to hear how their sound was different, yet still amazing, check out the song and video “Mad World” from their first album. Couple of other tracks on the first album (The Hurting) worth checking out are “Pale Shelter” and “Change”. Hope to see any of the ones I suggested in your channel soon. Thanks!

Like others I would recommend "Head Over Heels". Also "Shout", "Pale Shelter" and "Mad World" are great songs by Tears for Fears.

Listen to “Town Called Malice” - The Jam. Or Paul Welles’s other band - Style Council. Shout to the Top, was a huge hit, but they have many. He’s extremely talented.

One of my all-time favorites. You seem to have a knack for reacting to songs that were my favorites when they came out.

My teen years! It started with Mad World then came Pale Shelter. New album came out with a bang with Shout followed by Everybody Wants to Rule the World. What a decade the 80s was.

The best thing I like is that you review so many of the retro songs .. and that why you have such a big fan base .. especially of people who have lived that period of time !

This song was instantly classic. From the first hearing to this day this song was a masterpiece I could enjoy as a lad and as a more seasoned connoisseur. The two dancing daddies at the gas pump are to moves what this song is to music.

Such a great song. I love the deep tone of their voices! Lead vocals in this song by Curt Smith and Roland Orzabal backing him up! Roland wrote a lot of the music and sang lead on other hits like Shout! check that out as well as " Who killed tangerine" and "Ladybird" from their Everybody loves a happy ending.
