Roxette is my absolute favorite band ever, period :) I bought this specific album on a school trip to Germany, along with one of Marie Fredriksson's solo albums. Good memories. She inspired me to learn Swedish, and many years later, I made this language an integral part of my job. I also used to cut and bleach my hair to be just like hers, and still regularly come back to that haircut. Come to think about it, she had a pretty deep and long lasting impact on my life. Since she died, I found myself unable to listen to their music, it made me too sad. I think I might be ready to start listening to them again. Thanks for reacting to this! They made many nice songs, both older and newer, if you like this one, there's plenty to keep reacting to. My two favorite songs are a bit of a different vibe : "Queen of Rain" (same time period and very melancholic) and "Stars" (newer and kind of electro). "Hotblooded" is also pretty awesome: very energetic! I realize I just picked three songs where mostly only Marie sings, but I love Per too! His solo music is a lot of fun.

Love Roxette ❤️ they have so many great songs. Try THE LOOK (their first big hit) where Per do the leading vocal, IT MUST HAVE BEEN LOVE (great ballad from the movie Pretty woman), JOYRIDE (uptempo fun song).

The fade out of the track always makes me laugh as Per Gessle is saying at the end "due to the exceptional weakness of this song, play loud". Sadly Marie was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2002 that caused Roxette to end for a decade. They had a huge comeback tour in 2011 but in 2016 Marie was forced to retire on doctor's orders and died in 2019 after battling her cancer for 17 years. Per Gessle still tours as a solo artist and does Roxette tours with long time female tour vocalists who have worked with Roxette through the years.

Glad you're checking out Roxette .. They are great, and this is one of their best songs IMO .. "Fading Like A Flower" would be my next suggestion from them .. BTW - There's another Swedish group you used to cover which seems to have totally disappeared from your radar .. 2 girls, 2 guys, one of the biggest record selling groups in pop history .. Any ideas who I mean, Dereck ??? 😉

If I'm not wrong, this song was written by Per for Don Johnson, but he thought it wasn't good enough. The last words "due to exceptional weakness of this song, play loud..." had to do with that story. Like a joke.

I love Roxette...

Sadly Marie Fredriksson passed away a few years ago, I think it breast cancer, so no more Rosette. Per, who wrote all of the songs still alive but I think he said he won't use the Rosette name again because it wouldn't be Roxette without Marie. RIP Marie!!! You left us far too young, but you'll live forever through your amazing vocals and energy. I think one of my first crushes was on you!!!

She had brain cancer. She died at the of 61, the 9th December 2019. And Per continues with Roxette, now is called PGRoxette or RoxettePG and he is going to release a new album the next month with it. And there are two new songs The Loneliest Girl In The World and Sunflower. I didn't like them much, but it is just my opinion. And there are two female singers this new Roxette: Helena and Dea Norberg( they were the latest backing vocalists) and some of the old Roxette's musicians as Jonas Isacsson...

Loved Marie💕 No one else like her and I doubt there will be again 😢 Marie was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2002. She was successfully treated but left with obvious side effects, eventually given all clear from cancer, however she suffered with the effects of the rigerous treatment which in the end she passed from.😢 Per is still using the Roxette name and will release an album soon under the name PG Roxette.

@@jesicadpsc Still far too young imo. Thanks for correcting me on the cause of death. Maybe the interview I heard was a while ago and he changed his mind. He was the songwriter in the band so I guess if he fails on hard times it's his choice to try and cash in on the name that made him famous, can't blame him for that. I think Marie brought so much that made Roxette special, the songs were catchy for sure, but I think there was chemistry between the two that made the songs what they were. I'm not sure you can replicate that, maybe you can but it's rare. Also music has moved on and so many bands or artists find it hard to continue over decades to come out with fresh material over of periods of time.
@rsuriyop2 жыл бұрын
I never really noticed it at first, but damn, vocally Roxette actually sounds very similar to Celine Dion. Just a completely different musically style and that’s all. But the vocals sound very much alike.
