“How did he get famous” - Lex, he got famous because he has an amazing voice and that’s all there really is to it. This one doesn’t need too much deep thinking, as others have also noted. What’s wild is that this is one of those rare songs for a movie that are probably better remembered than the actual movie.

Henry Olusegun Adeola Samuel (born 19 February 1963), known professionally as Seal, is a British singer-songwriter. He has sold over 20 million records worldwide, with hit songs "Crazy" and "Killer", the latter of which went to number one in the UK, and his most celebrated song, "Kiss from a Rose", which was released in 1994. The scars on Seal's face are from a disease called Discoid Lupus. Lupus is an autoimmune disorder and for lack of a better description, the body attacks itself. Women get the disease more often than men, but when men get it, they get it worse than women do. His scars are pretty much where the "Butterfly Rash" would be and he probably got the scares during a bad flare. But this is from the perspective of a person with Lupus.

Guys, it’s just a love ballad from a motion picture; all the Batman Forever images should’ve given that away. It’s just a soft adult contemporary love song; that’s it. No need to look for hidden layers here. And it was a HUGE hit when it came out. Seal is pretty well known as a ballad singer. Listen to CRAZY.

Except its not. He wrote this back in the 80s, didn't like it, but finally recorded it for his second album. They just used it for the film a year later, but the song wasn't written for the film. And even if it was, that doesn't mean you can't analyze it and look for meaning behind it. Plenty of great music has been written for film.

His voice is so smooth and beautiful and just relaxes you. He is also a very nice person to meet. The song is amazing but the Batman movie was horrible that it was in. He was a judge on The Voice in Australia. There was a contestant who came on and sang and none of the judges turned for him and they told him he had a voice for Broadway and he said that was his dream to be in Broadway musicals. Seal said you have a voice that would be perfect there and he paid for him to go to Broadway and be in musicals there and got him started on what he wanted to actually do.

Fun fact, not sure if anyone else pointed this out: Seal wrote and demo'd this in the late 80s before he was ever signed, and it was a pretty basic acoustic ballad that he was kind of embarrassed of and never showed anyone. Whilst recording with Trevor Horn (founder of the Buggles of Video Killed the Radio Star fame and producer of a bunch of artists to this day), Horn coaxed Seal into letting him hear it, and then came up with the arrangement you hear on the final track with the strings and oboe and stuff. It got released as single to middling success, but then got a huge bump off the back of Joel Schumacher using it on the Batman Forever OST.

Seal performed at Queen's tribute concert to Freddie Mercury in 1992... Seal's music is a mix of pop, R&B and light rock. He's from Nigerian descent, but British born. 'Kiss from a rose' was on his 1994 album, but was released as a single for the movie 'Batman Forever' in 1995 and became one of his biggest hits... along w/ "Don't cry" ... 'Prayer for the dying'... Seal's 1994 album was a global hit, selling 4 million copies (4X platinum) in the US. Another hit was 'Waiting for you' that came after 2000.

One of the MOST BEAUTIFUL SONGS of the 90’s! 💯

Seal was born in England. He is famous because his music is awesome. This is from his second album Seal from 1994. He originally wrote it in 1987 and hated it. He eventually presented it to producer Trevor Horn (formerly of the bands Yes and The Buggles "Video Killed the Radio Star") who ran with it and created this version which became Seal's biggest hit. Though there are a tn of musicianson the album, two of the main four are Wendy and Lisa, formery of Prince and the Revolution. They also had a band called Wendy and Lisa with several albums including the fantastic Eroica. The guitar you hear in ths song is Wendy. "The prominent scarring on Seal's face is the result of a type of lupus called discoid lupus erythematosus, which affects the skin and leaves large scars." - Wikipedia

Ah Seal! No his music is like soul soft rock. He's very versatile. Popular singer in the '90s and '00s. He's very accomplished outside of music too and has known family.

Most reacters get hung up on that way too much to a point that they don't pay attention to the actual song like this video they didn't even really talk about the actual music or what they thought of it

@@matinmirnaghibi5846 yeah I think reviewers should spend more time evaluating how the music makes them feel and whether they enjoyed it or not rather than trying to categorize it. I've been a musician my entire life and my biggest criteria for performing a song is whether I liked it and the audience liked it.

Seal was a hit maker before he married Heidi! It’s called Pop music. This is obviously from the soundtrack of a Batman movie (Batman Forever 1995) starring Val Kilmer and Nicole Kidman and Jim Carey as the Riddler! The song is so beautiful and Seal voice is amazing! Check out his hit song, Crazy!❤️❤️

It's R&B composed with orchestral elements. The song structure and quintessential bluesy bellow from Seal anchors the entire chorus.

For a stunning cover of this song, lookup Larkin Poe "Kiss From A Rose." Larkin Poe is a Grammy nominated pair of sisters (descendants of Edgar Allen Poe) who play blues/rock/roots music. During the pandemic, they did a series of covers from their living room (no special effects). Seal himself saw the video and called them to say how much he loved and was impressed by their rendition.

I watched the music video for Seal's _"Kiss from a Rose"_ so many times in 1995 that Seal's hand gestures are burnt into my mind, I mimic them in perfect timing even when listening to the song.🤙

He became famous because his pipes are AMAZING! He’s soft rock/ R&B mostly with a little bit of ‘80’s pop thrown in. His lyrics are known for their poetry. This song was part of a Batman movie soundtrack. This song released 1994.

This is what we used to call "soft rock" -- not all rock has to be hard. Seal first hit in the U.S. with the dance track "Crazy"; I don't know if he had hits in Britain before that or not.
