In the UK when this comes on we say, " Alice, Alice who the ***f is Alice?" Very childish but we do it anyway. It works for us, as a nation.
@janhansen9102 ай бұрын
we do the same in denmark

Not only do we do that in the UK, but we also use the same phrase with other names, for instance, we might say "who the F*** is @pinball1970?" :)

Not just in the UK or in Denmark. In Sweden too. When we are on holiday in the sun and, now it doesn't matter if it is in the Spanish Canary Islands, or in the Greek Islands, or in the Mediterranean, this song is ALWAYS played. With the addition then the band, the troubadour stops and awaits the crowd's roar, "Who The F*** Is Alice". So it is very common that Scandinavian bands and troubadours who play at the sun holiday hotels always play this one. Or there's always someone from the audience roaring, play Living next door to Alice. 😂🤣

They where big in Europe (end 70ś)...loads of big hits, And the band is Called Smokie, the Singer is Chris Norman
@RB_2Y2 ай бұрын
And Ladies... If you really liked the original Smokie singer from the 70's, Chris Norman's voice, (He is the one who sings in this music video and the best Smokie singer of all time) then you must listen and watch the video with Suzi Quattro and the Smokies first singer, Chris Norman and the song Stumblin In. There, Chris's raspy and beautiful voice really comes to its best.
@thomask83672 ай бұрын
Agree, I listened to the song "Stumblin' In" so many times. Chris' voice and Suzi's smile ... 🥰
@crouchingtiger9108Ай бұрын
Smokie didn't get the promotion they deserved in the US. They had about 15 really good songs. There is no original member of the band left in the band that goes out as Smokie today but the original singer, Chris Norman is still going. He had a hit in the US with Suzi Quatro called Stumblin' in.

I had a crush to Chris Norman, the lead singer, loved his raspy voice, his hair and his SMILE. There is also a great duet with the rock lady Suzie Quatro, Stumblin in.In Germany, Smokie was number one in the singles charts for 14 weeks in 1977 (nine weeks with Living Next Door to Alice), and another five weeks with Lay Back in the Arms of Someone.

I lived almost next door to to Smokie's lead singer, Chris Norman. A lovely man, and my sister used to babysit for their family in Yorkshire, England :) Ladies, I'm sure you've heard of Suzi Quattro? Chris and Suzi were friends (I think they were on the same label or shared the same agent). They did a great duet together called 'Stumblin in' kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn3Qe4auedd-eK8.

Hi Ladies. I'm sending you a small list of songs that Smokie had in the UK during the Seventies. In 1976 they had a hit with ' I'll meet you at Midnight ' it got to no11 . And from 1977 they covered a song called ' Needless and Pins 'and that reached no10. Then from 1975 they had a no8 hit with ' Don't play your rock ' n ' Roll to me ' . From 1977 they had a no12 hit with ' Lay back in the arms of someone ' and the last from my little list is a song called ' If you think you know how to love me' and that was from 1975 and reached no 3 in the UK charts. Best wishes.

The original line-up in the 70s was Chris Norman, vocals Alan Silson, lead guitar Terry Uttley, bass guitar Pete Spencer, drums The band released their first LP "Pass it around" under their first name "Smokey", but then had to change their name to "Smokie" because there was trouble with the singer Smokey Robinson. That brings back a lot of memories of a time that was unique. The time of my youth, with a lot of crazy ideas and nonsense in my head. The original albums from back then are in my cupboard. I keep them like a treasure. Check out the songs by Suzie Quatro and The Sweet, then you'll know what was going on with us in the 70s and early 80s. Have fun Greetings from Germany The Lady
