Released in June of 1982 when I was 20 years old. I can't believe this is 41 years ago. I just love this song so much and I remember how much I was in love.

I saw him live in 1983 and he was fabulous. He sounded just like his recordings. Amazing passions.

This is one of my favorite songs by Stevie. He never disappoints. I remember when he was signed by Motown at age 11. By 13 he was writing songs for people like Aretha Franklin (Until You Come Back To Me). He is truly a musical genius and a national treasure. Thanks for the great reaction to this. 👏👏👍

Great reaction! You should continue to react to Stevie's songs! For instance, "Front line", " I'm new" and "Conversation peace".

Wow… for me this was totally out of left field! Such great vibes… something you always get with Stevie!! I’ve got my double vinyl of “Songs in the Key of Life” back from 1976. That album has “Isn’t She Lovely” and “Sir Duke” which were both big hits from this one. I bet we’re in for more surprises this week!

As a youngster, Superstition (US no1) was like Oh Well, Whole Lotta Love, Echoes... on the one hand bewildering and at the same time very intriguing, even brilliant. Stevie began experimenting musically with synthesizers, which he continues on the following album Innervisions (all self-recorded) - a masterpiece due to the different styles of music, notably Living In The City (the long album version, a small city overture) and Higher Ground; both US top ten. He continued his innovative musical journey with "Fullfillingness First Final" and "Songs In The Key Of Life" for four consecutive albums in 1972-76. His reggae tribute Master Blaster 1980 was also awesome, no. 1 in my country, and I Ain't Gonna Stand For It. More Stevie!!!

Stevie is so CHIC! He has a Midas touch to impart elegance to whatever he touches. He has songs that I like better than others, but I'm yet to listen to a bad one. Well, I need to give "I've Just Called..." another chance, it suffered from the same overexposure problems as "C'est la Vie". The rest of the "Woman in Red" soundtrack is FAR better and very underrated, though. When "Ribbon in the Sky" appeared, those squeaky AM radios had already mostly been upgraded to FM, and it played a lot on the finest stations (not on the more popular ones), especially late at night. I fell in love with it instantly. I got the "Musiquarium" album shortly afterwards (the vinyl cover was not only beautiful, it was a first-class production in relief!), and later I got it on CD as well. "Musiquarium" was a hard buy for many, because being a double album it was expensive, and it was a mix of a "greatest hits" compilation with some new songs, creating a dilemma if you already followed his discography (which was not my case; I was familiar with a lot of his work, but inexplicably had none of his records until then). But "Ribbon..." alone was worth the buy, and the album had many of his old delights, including my all-time favorite: "Superwoman/Where Were You When I Needed You" (two songs gathered in one track, and both spectacular!). Not to mention "Superstition", which I can testify that half a century later still lifts up any party and gets everybody dancing, the irresistibly catchy "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" (which even Frank Sinatra felt he HAD to cover!), the groovy "Do I Do" (with special guest Dizzy Gillespie, no less!), the perfect arrangement of "Send One Your Love", and of course the classics "Sir Duke" and "Isn't She Lovely?". Stevie always lifts my mood and is one of those artists I feel I need to thank the heavens for sending him to this world with the well accomplished mission of making it more beautiful!

Silky smooth indeed. Beautiful. My own personal favourite Album of Stevie’s is the Classic ‘Songs In The Key Of Life’. (1976). I bought this amazing Vinyl Double Album that famous hot summer and there are so many amazing songs. Im sure you’re aware of many of them, but my own fav’s that I’d highly recommend are, ‘Love’s in Need of Love Today’. ‘I Wish’. ‘Ordinary Pain’. ‘Isn’t She Lovely’. ‘Joy Inside My Tears’. ‘If it’s Magic’. And also, the wonderful ‘As’. Which had a great cover version, by George Michael and Mary J. Blige. There are many more really good tracks on this Album, but they’re my own fav’s. 🎶❤️🎶

I hope you read older comments so you'll see this. The bass is not a double bass although it sounds very much like one. It's actually Stevie playing the bassline on a synthesizer. I thought you might find that interesting because it is replicated so well. People always look to his 70's output for suggestions and yes that period was killer for Stevie but I have some suggestions from the 80's and 90's: Make Sure You're Sure, These Three Words, Gotta Have You, and Fun Day from the Jungle Fever soundtrack. Weakness, It's You (both featuring Dionne Warwick), and Love Light in Flight from the Woman in Red Soundtrack. (I Just Called... is from that as well), and With Each Beat of My Heart and Free from Characters. There's another great ballad from the album on which Overjoyed appears, it's called Whereabouts. The album is called In Square Circle. I forgot All I Do, As If You Read My Mind, and Rocket Love from Hotter Than July. I like your thoughtful commentary on the music. Enjoy.

Judged by Stevie's own standard, I feel this is relatively average. But his average is far above what most people can achieve. If you want to sample the very best of Stevie's musicianship please react to tracks from "Innervisions" is considered by many fans and critics to be one of his finest works and one of the greatest albums ever made and is 50 years old! I suggest "Visions" as a sublime intro.

The great one. I've seen Stevie twice over the years. His live shows aren't long enough to include even half of his many hits. Just to clarify something… Stevie Wonder has received 25 Grammy awards over the years plus a lifetime achievement Grammy in 1996. He has earned his legendary status. Another beautiful love ballad of his in this vein you might want to check out… "Lately", amazing song. Also might want to react to "Superwoman (where were you when I needed you)". A great soul classic. Sooo, so many great songs of his to choose from spanning some 60+ years!! And ya boy was there for all of it. 😏
