The 80s are my favourite decade of music, so many wonderful and different artists, you could feel and hear the creativity with people that were able to play an instrument. Tears for Fears is just one lovely example, others are Peter Gabriel, Depeche Mode, Hall and Oates, Simple Red, Queen, Foreigner or Genesis

Roland writes and sings on most of Tears For Fears songs but for this song it was Curt Smith that sang it. I bought the album when it came out and I must have worn the vinyl down from the number of times I played it. Tears For Fears are back with a new album coming out in 2022.

This song is the epitome of 80's. The lyrics are deep and meaningful but the music has that 80's hopeful energy. So much of the 80's was like that. A lot of bad things happening but a lot of optimism that we'd make it through. You should follow this up with "Let's Dance" by David Bowie

@Sp33gan3 жыл бұрын
Hello, my dear Morenikeji! Do you know how difficult it can be to have to explain to my wife who my favourite baby girl is? hahahaha! I love how you've felt the groove on this one, my friend. The drummer sets a pattern that makes the song roll instead of pound, making it so easy to move and dance to. Further, while the drums are a steady roll, the lead vocals hold notes and slow some down so that the song has a push and pull effect on the rhythms. Tears For Fears had been making good music for a few years before this, but they really hit the big time with the song and the album it came from. Every member of the group is at the top of their game and each instrument makes an integral addition to the overall sound. It's fun, it's catchy, the lyrics are intelligent, it's memorable and easy to sing along with. This was such a wonderful time for music and was probably the last truly creative period before the corporations took total control and forced everything to become the same, not allowing any freedom to create at all. Seeing you dance at the end shows that the song is not only rhythmically catchy, it also gives a feeling of joy. This is one of those songs that I can remember exactly what I was doing when it first was played. Oh, and my baby sister had a big crush on both the singer and the guitarist. ☺ Take care and stay safe, baby girl. I must explain to my wife who my favourite is. hahahaha! ☺♥

One of the all time great British British bands with a touch of Argentinian influence by Roland Orzabal. Kurt Smith handles this tune on vocals perfectly. I believe this is their biggest selling single and album. Songs from the big Chair. Standard issue in suburban America . Great record. Check out Pale Shelter, Sowing the Seeds of Love , Raoul and the Kings of Spain Roland Orzabals masterpiece without Curt Smith. Mo you will love these guys. Many great songs. These guys are master musicians and writers. Who are some great Nigerian acts you can let me check out ?
