Love The Mission and all the 80s UK Goth bands, like The Sisters of Mercy, All About Eve and The Cure. Another Fall from Grace is a great track from The Mission.

When The Mission rose from the first incarnation of The Sisters Of Mercy I was about 17. Coming home with the 7" of their first single 'Serpent's Kiss' was a great day. Played that to death! Subsequently saw them live at least 10 times, the last time being a few years ago at a secret gig in Bath. They haven't lost it one bit :)

BOAW is to be avoided. I’m not saying it’s bad but The Mission are not known for ballads.

@@kennethmckay6391 I love it, my introduction to them. Not being British, I had hardly heard of them before BOAW. Its a great ballad 😉

I'm that old that I saw them on the tour this video was filmed on. Yes, the crowds were (and still are) rowdy.

I’ve seen this band at least 120 times, I’ve met most of the members over the years and I have their emblem tattooed on my arm. I’ve been obsessed with them for 30+ years and still going strong! I took my 17 year old daughter to see them in April and she got to meet Wayne and loved the show! The fan base of The Mish is a devoted crowd and we would follow them into hell if it meant seeing a live Mission show!!

I can't count that many, but I've sen them live from the first Leeds gig on the Carved in Sand tour. I was at a gig in Brighton this year, they still sound as fresh.
@celticecho Жыл бұрын
@@AndrewLakeUK That Brighton gig was the one I took my daughter to!!! I don’t know if you remember, but near the end he said hello to someone, asked if they were enjoying the show and then played a couple of bars from ‘dragonfly’? That was to and for me! I was in the front, right in front of him!

@@celticecho, I remember that; it was a good gig, a nice mix of classic and new stuff. Good to see the Eskimos out that night. The Wedding Present is the only band I've seen more than the Mish. They are very different bands, but both always put on a great show. If you live in/near Brighton, check out Spellbound at the Komedia every month.

I'm old dnough to remember those confetti-throwing crowds - the same people who attached themselves to All About Eve (with more of an artistic reason)...but I now listen back to The Mission's "prime period" and think...Why did so many people adopt this guy as a role model? A drug-loving John Lennon-lookalike from Bristol who pretends to be a "Northerner" (attaching himself to Liverpool or Leeds depending on the occasion) and writes in gobbledegook, obssessing over drugs, sex, abusive parents, and his feud with Mr Eldritch.
