I am the spouse of a retired Canadian Veteran, who's done his time and I can't watch this video without having more than tears. Cry through the whole thing as I picture the wife driving the husband as I've done quite a few times. Saying goodbye was the hardest thing as I've said it so many times before that now I can't say it anymore or I break down. Toby Keith came to Canada in Sudbury Ontario, near my home town and when he sang 'American Soldier', he switched the words to 'Canadian Soldier' and my husband stood up and saluted him whilst in the crowd and when Toby turned his guitar, there was a Canadian flag in the back of it. Tore our hearts out and made the crowd go wild. Thank you for reacting to this video and thank you for your service as well. :) Love from Canada

My husband retired 6 years ago. 21 years of service and 3 deployments. Our daughter was 2 years old the first time, 8 the second time, 11 the final time. This and Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue were played a lot. Both helped me remember why they do what they do, and shored me up when he was gone months at a time. Thank you for your service.

Yeah, I know wha'cha mean.... I was never boots on the ground, because they wouldn't let girls go to combat zones, in those days. I worked in Intelligence, and deployed right after we bombed Gaadafi (sp?), and so we needed to bulk-up our defense, overseas, and I was MAJORLY focused, because I knew the importance of the task, at hand. Are you still in the medical field, Craig? Thankyou, so much, for serving; thankyou for your pride, in serving; and, thankyou for your thoughtfulness, in reacting to this, today!! ❤️

The way you described being deployed is exactly the same feeling I had and never been able to describe it as succinctly as you just did. In the zone and mission on your mind. My wife watched me go off and I feel she may have been more afraid than I was. Thank you for your service, sir! 🫡 🇺🇸 🇬🇧
@KathyAnne28
@KathyAnne28 6 ай бұрын
I don't know about more afraid than you but it's a lost at sea feeling. Especially if you have children with your soldier/marine/sailor/pilot. My first husband was a Marine and his first of 3 combat deployments (where he was badly injured) I was pregnant then had our son to raise the following two, for 9-12 months at a time. Not to diminish their experiences, at all, but speaking just as a former military wife, they're given training and debriefings for their deployments. The families aren't, and yes, I can guarantee you with every ring of the doorbell, their heart jumped. With every phone call was the Elation of it possibly being you tempered by fear of who else it might be calling. I hope you did get to ask them and that it brought all of you even closer. ❤

Toby can make you cry, and he can make you laugh. He writes his own music & produces it himself, so no one can influence how he does it with their rules. I know you've checked out a few of his videos & there are so many more to discover. 'Trailerhood' & 'How do you like me now'?' & 'I love this bar' are just a few of his fun ones. Then he has more love songs like' It's a little too late' & 'You shouldn't kiss me like that' which are beautiful, but if you get the official video's you will also get your laughs. Toby has no problem making a fool of himself for a laugh. I am praying he finishes his Cancer treatment & recovers completely. We need this man.

Toby is a great spokesman for everyone in the military services! Having a father that was in the military really influence his entire life! It’s all too easy to take our freedoms for granted without realizing that our military keep the “bad guys” away.. Being allied to so many nations means a lot of extra time for our soldiers. Respect you for your service!!

Thank you. Thank you soldiers, thank you Toby Keith. I too having been searching for patriotic songs. Home Free, with members of the armed forces and Lee Greenwood singing God Bless the USA is one of the best ever.

I have 3 sons also. They have all served in the Army and retire with 26, 25 and 22 years in service. My husband also served in the Army. Now our grandson is a West Point graduate serving now. My father also served ( in the Navy) but we forgive for that choice. The boys pick at him about that. He does get a kick from that. So service is in our blood. It’s nice to here how people appreciate the military now!

Toby is a great patriot and there is no doubt that he gives respect to our soldiers. There is never enough thank you's that can be given to active military as well as veterans. My dad and brother are both veterans. Freedom is definitely not free. Thank you also for your service.

I'm from The Netherlands and I still get emotional and teared up when I hear this. My grandpa served proud during WW2 (never wanted tot alk about the horrific things he experienced, but always proud & humble during Dutch Memorial day (May 4th) and Liberation Day (May 5th) celebrations. Unfortunately He passed away 6 years ago but every year on Memorial day I remember my granddad proud

I always loved your reactions but, of course, this one hits home to us Americans. Unlike you, I did not have the courage to serve. But my family has served in every major conflict in American history from the Revolution and both sides of the Civil War to Iraq and Syria and I have a great uncle who was one of Rudder’s Rangers at D-Day. All thanks and appreciation to those who have served and may God safely bring home all those currently serving.

I was a bit selfish when I deployed. I asked my family to walk away before I left. I wanted to see them leave instead of them waiting to see me leave. It was just easier on me that way.

Thank you for your service. Thank you for having our backs. It feels good to hear you speak so highly of our members of the military, a proud American moment , kinda like when your kid goes to stay the night at their friend’s house and when you pick them up they tell you how helpful and respectful your child was - you get that proud Momma moment lol

Toby Keith is the best .. Sitting here listening to the booms from neighbors fireworks.. Toby went over seas to preform for our troops more then any other country singer, since the old USO shows went over.
