Love this one with Toby and Willie its a lot of fun, not sure they'd get much done if it was a TV show, generally they use Iced Tea as a substitute for whiskey on video sets...ummm these boys said no to that and used real whiskey. They had a good time by the end. On another note, keeping Toby Keith in our prayers as he's battling Stomach Cancer right now, he's a tough guy so he'll beat it!! ❤ This is great driving music.

This is such a fun video! I remember when it came out, they interviewed Willie and Toby , and they talked about making this, and they were asked for the drinking scenes if they wanted "mocktails" or real whiskey. Willie looked at them and said, "Is that supposed to be funny!?" *LOL* So of course they're drinking Willie's brand, "Whiskey River".

He told Willie he would send over the song for Willie's consideration. Willie asked, "What's it called?" Toby replied, "Beer for My Horses." Willie's response upon hearing just the title? My late husband was a Sheriff's Deputy and loved Willie. He also had horses and trained them. He did let his horses and Mike's and donkeys drink beer. We played this at his funeral.

This is one of the best videos of TK! I've seen him 5 times in concert in Savannah, GA! The ABSOLUTE BEST concerts I've ever been to! He was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall and I pray to God that he spares one of the best country music artists to ever live! All TK's music is absolutely amazing!

Apparently when Toby Keith wrote this and asked Willie Nelson to do a duet with him Willie's reply was, well it depends on the song, let me hear it. Toby said it's called "Beer for My Horses" and Willie said "I'm in!" Toby said don't you want to hear the song, Willie said nope, love the title, I'm in!

Love this song with Toby and Willie. You can't help but tap your feet and sing along. Prayers for a successful recovery for Toby Keith in his fight with stomach cancer. Willie Nelson is 89 years old now and I not in the best of health from what I had heard. Prayers and best wishes for both of them.

The fact that he put that in the video just made it all the better. Love Toby Keith! Unfortunately, He's been battling stomach cancer for 6 months now, and I send my heartfelt wishes that he has a full recovery. Prayers to him and his family.

Toby wrote the screenplay for the movie, by this same name, and acts in it, with Willie Nelson---and was the producer. The scenes in the vid, were the scenes in the movie! Toby also wrote the song, of course!

I read that Toby Keith contacted Willy to do a song together and Willy said he would think about it (or something like that) and asked the name of the song and when Keith said “beer for my horses” Willie said yes.

They did make a movie of this with Toby Keith. And Willie Nelson has some good movies- Red headed stranger, Outlaw Justice, Stagecoach ( with Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson). Worth checking them out.

Years ago there was a show called McCloud that ran from 1970 to 1977 starring Dennis Weaver. It was about a Deputy Marshall from Taos New Mexico, who was assigned to New York as an investigator. I loved that show. Look it up.

Love your reactions! I'm italian and i fell in love with country music some years ago (though it's almost totally unknown here, and many songs are not relatable for us). Love the story telling, the humour in many songs and also the emotions some of them give! Amongst the "classics" i suggest "a week in a country jail" by Tom t. Hall. And for the contemporary ones, "ticks" by brad paisley and " i drive your truck" by Lee Brice.

It was made into a movie. I know that they have it on Prime Video. It's called "Beer For My Horses". Unfortunately Willie's not in it. It has Toby Keith who wrote it. Rodney Carrington, and Ted Nugent. It's only 98 minutes long.
