Oh this song!!!! ❤ Sammy's voice and the slow, hard beat, with the soft harmonies in the background! Just gorgeous.

I love the fact that the Van Halan boys have a classical music background.

The way Sammy sings that third verse is gorgeous. Fantastic song all around.

You have to remember these boys played the piano long before they picked up another instrument. It's so cool to hear these keyboards.

That guitar solo starts off with Sammy playing and it was ever so subtly blended in with Eddie finishing it. You can tell as soon as Eddie's part comes in, it's so much smoother

Whoa wait…you mean to tell me a love song was sounding…lovey dovey? GASP!

This song, my friend, is what is called a "rock ballad." A love ballad for the ladies was kind of obligatory back in the 80s.

Sammy said he wrote it about a book. He was reading about how people could be down almost at the point of suicide and then in a heartbeat changed their lives like a different person popped into their body like an alien.

When he wrote the song, he was reading a book about how people can change in an instant they could be down and out and almost like on their last leg and all sudden just turn it around, almost like somebody else popped into their body like an alien, I heard Sammyexplain it and he explains it a lot better than I did in interview just a month or so ago

Sammy said this song was about ani encounter he'd had with aliens who'd landed in his backyard.

Van Halen has about 12 songs that are legitimately bangers. This is one of them.

Coming off of Roth’s womanizing, chasing barely legals….I love this album! It was refreshing to hear hardcore Rockers confess their love for their women. It’s sad you couldn’t see the beauty in that. You’re just not getting any of it. Especially Eddie’s return to his first beloved musical instrument- The Piano.

very funny hearing you talk to engineer Donn Landee about the vocal mix (I actually started spelling my name with two n's because of seeing Donn's name on the insert of my 5150 cassette. Got to remember, with Sammy in the band, it really was a love fest. Eddie and Sammy ended even living next to each other in Malibu. Whereas with Roth it was the punk attitude of "ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" , whereas Sammy is all about the love. I mean, Sammy wrote lyrics about a whole lot of topics actually,, exploring dark, emotion themes, economic injustice via the debt system, de ja vue, etc)

Van Halen Live Right Here Right Now. Live version of this song has guitar all the way through and is a bit heavier. Definitely worth checking out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKe0g5Spq6ZsmrMsi=GJ-yqz_ZrIYKGDsC

Van Halen was an entirely different band with Sammy than with Diamond Dave. There are a couple of tracks on the 5150 record, including this one, that have elements of progressive rock. I remember when the album dropped and I first heard it. A lot of people hated it at first, but I loved it. I am a Rush fan first and foremost, so the evolution of Van Halen didn't bother me at all. But that's just my tuppence worth. 😊 I really appreciate your reactions to the music that has been the soundtrack to my life and times 🤘 Tioraidh an-drasta 🏴
