My ex-husband (rip) a few years after I had remarried sent me a letter and asked me to listen to this tune. He said he finally understood why we had split. Told me that he'd always love me, but he finally felt released. I was lucky he was a great man, coparent and he was one of my best friends. My now husband respected and like him and visa versa. We miss him. Thanks for bringing up a special memory.

Wilson Phillips did a song called “Flesh and Blood” that was a direct message to Brian Wilson. It’s good if you know the backstory. Brian was under the control of an unscrupulous “therapist” who was cutting off all his communications with family and friends. Meanwhile, Brian’s family had filed a lawsuit to get him away from the therapist and have a conservator appointed. So “Flesh and Blood” was the Wilson daughters communicating with Brian the only way they could at the time.

These girls have a unique sound. My girls and kids at their school just loved their music. By the way, months ago I requested the musical “in the Mood” by Glenn Miller. I still haven’t heard it. It’s a swingy tune and I love dancing it. Reminds me of my dad, but it was still popular in the 60’s when I was a teen.

That's really a nice song, I like it. "You're in Love" is another good one by them. For christmas you could check out "Hey Santa" by the two Wilson sisters, but that suggestion might come a bit early now (or a little too late).

The idea of this song is that BOTH sides in this relationship - STILL can't free themselves from each other. They BOTH still have feelings for each other but there are problems of some sort in between. She is telling him NOT "to come 'round here anymore" because obviously he still is feeling the relationship & wants it back. She is telling him to "release" her, because - she CAN'T do it herself. She still feels the tie to him too, but doesn't want to. This is why she says: "You are a waste of time to me." Her words are harsh because she is feeling frustrated over their mutual continued feelings & semi-relationship. She doesn't want to move back into their relationship & WANTS to move forward but CAN'T, because seeing him keeps those feelings (that she wants to get over) alive & she can't get over him without his help in doing so. For this reason she is feeling stuck in between that she finds a waste of time. It is really a song of heartbreak since BOTH sides still care for each other but even though she is still feeling the connection she wants it over so they are not working it out. (I guess this COULD change since she still DOES have feelings for him IF he does come back around & this time knows what to say to her/do that works/appeals to her specific personality & her issues.) At this point though, they are in that painful phase of wanting/not wanting it to be over. This was a song that I felt in my heart as a teen (when it was out) over a boy. He had TRIED to move on, (which hurt me), but couldn't fully do it - which broke up his new relationship. It was too late for us as the final break (over me) in the new relationship was just before he was about to move very far away for university (& I would go in a different geographical location the following year.) Obviously not the same level of feeling as an adult long-term relationship, but I felt it nonetheless. The voices of Wilson Phillips are great. I love how well they go with each other & yet even when they are singing all together, there is a clarity to their COMBINED voices that you don't often get - maybe because of the higher register they all sing in. I think that higher, sweet sadness really works in this song too. Of course not all will feel the same. I am glad that you will still tell us J. when a song doesn't really appeal to you instead of pretending to like every song which just seems impossible. All the best, J.💞

The blonde is Chynna Phillips who is married to a Baldwin and Carnie and Wendy Wilson are sisters from Brian Wilson and Chynna is the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas and The Papas like you said. Hold On is their biggest hit which you've probably already done.

3:56 J the song is about a young woman who knows that the man that she still loves really isn't any good for her. It's sort of like Tina Turner's heart wrenching song "I Don't Wanna Fight." In the case of this song as with Tina's each person has to release the other person so both can move on and enjoy their lives separately. It's a waste of time to cling to a relationship that probably stopped existing maybe even years ago. It's a very thought provoking song. It's not an easy message for some people to accept. Trust me. I know. It wasn't easy for me either.
