I saw this tour live at Toronto's Exhibition Stadium in 1984. They were standing on a what looked like an oval shaped stage, clad in stainless steel and a slightly sloped towards the top. Excellent show. I think they performed the whole album live. Plus they threw in "Starship Trooper" and "Heart of the Sunrise" to appease the older fans.

Great song from a great album!! I was fortunate to see this tour twice…..always amazing live! Although “Owner of a Lonely Heart” was a pretty commercial hit, a couple of other amazing tracks from 90125 are “Hold On” and “It Can Happen”. I know you’ll love them both when you do get to them. Can’t believe that it’s the weekend already!! Have a great one bud! 😊

@@retroreactions.... You know who their opening act was? Get this: Bugs Bunny! They had a screen they showed animation on during the songs, so before the show they showed 2 Bugs Bunny cartoons on it. The crowd went NUTS for it! You haven't lived until you've watched Bugs with a couple of thousand people!

Another great Yes moment, they were all about changing, and trying to be the most progressive, this time looking for money, yet winking to the past. Such a great group, and who better to see a first reaction from, I have played this album so many times, yet when I really want to sit down and get involves, the 1970's era albums really hit harder, in a good way.... Thanks for the review, always look forward to when you do Yes...

Hey Brandon! This was my favorite Yes album very nicely produced by Trevor Horn. This song has always been the most progressive from this work, it carried the album to heights, it have also a pop feel, a kind of best of both world. I remember the importance of the coming of Trevor Rabin for the writing of this music, changes is what you experience here, a great duo with Jon Anderson lyrically. Sounds and effects are powerful and subtle, it's a master song, not as popular as "Owner of a lonely heart" but deserves fame in anyway. It's a must song, with a couple of others from 90125, this album got a unique print you hear overall the disc. It was clearly a brilliant Yes comeback. Listen also to "Leave it" and "it can happen". Cheers!

One of my most favorite songs from that album! 🙌 Yeah, that was either a xylophone and/or marimba sample, probably played on the Fairlight keyboard? And hey, that opening instrumental is the best part of the song IMHO! (I don't know, you might have to forfeit your "prog card" Brandon for not digging that so much?! 😅) There are often multiple ways to count things but I think of it as 8/8 + 6/8 + 8/8 + 6/8 + 6/8. This album always makes me think of The Buggles and besides the use of similar period instruments I'm guessing Trevor Rabin might have liked them and was influenced? hhhmmm, we'll need to do a Buggles reaction at some point?! 🥳

The 80s rap and stuff is just as good as any of the other yes material in my opinion. In fact the other Yes album that I find just as good or better than most of them is drama and that's with Trevor Horn
@spikeysnack5 күн бұрын
Controversy! This one divided Yes fans, turned on new listeners, turned off some too. 90125 was such a departure from previous outings, and a lot of prog heads could not see that the new direction was going to save the band from extinction (and some of the members from poverty ... ) . I bet more people got into Yes and bought previous albums by about 100 times because of this album and its hits, and the resulting worldwide tour. I was happy that there was a bit of harder-edge guitar and power chords, because the 10th album, Drama was full of bangers but not radio-friendly, much more band-geek material. You should do some from that Album, you are more than ready for it. The return of Jon clinched it for me. I have to hear his voice, and it stands out as some of his best supportive singing. The song Changes itself sounds like a compromise of Jon and Trevor, and I like that they don't stray into a long prog section, just a guitar solo, and a brief quietus before the big finish. The vibraphone runs were unique at the time -- no song on the radio was doing anything like that since the Doors and making it a big hit, except for Christmas songs, that do that sort of thing, you know. Jon's Christmas album "3 Ships" is actually quite amazing and right up this channel's alley, btw.

So happy to hear from you guys how this album and tour kind of saved and rejuvenated Yes. Jon is sublime here as ever. Happy you enjoy this tune. Yes, I've only reacted to MM from Drama, but another from that album is in the cards within the next 2 months here!! 3 Ships? Hmmmmm....I'm sure I was told about it here in the past and forgot. Christmas season is coming soon here on RR.... will have to look into that album....😁
