It cracked me up when you said "I'm guessing this is a disco song!" A lot of people consider this to be THE disco song! This was from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. But you checked out the wrong version. This is the short radio edit that cuts out about 3/4 of the song. The REAL version is over ten minutes long...and it's a CLASSIC!!

Not many remember nowadays that this song was associated with a suspense/thriller movie of the time that was called "Towering Inferno" a movie about a soaring high-rise sky scraper that ends up catching fire, so that concept was a thing back then since it was the 70's when we began to see gigantic towering skyscrapers being built in major cities all over the U.S. and was one of the signs of the new technological age that was upon us. Then a movie maker came up with the plot of what if.... one of these immense high rises were to catch fire and burn out of control (in similar fashion to what we saw happen on 9-11 but with fire rather than planes). The lyrics in the song make reference to it "100 stories high", that sure ain't referring to a Discotec ;) Listen carefully to the lyrics. That movie had a big impact. So this song is basically a combination of 2 o the most moving things going on during those few years, which was the release of the movie Towering Inferno and the cultural/musical/dance tsunami that was aflame in the U.S., none other than the Disco craze. Combine those two and the result is Disco Inferno! lf you haven't seen the movie Towering Inferno there are trailers for it uploaded on KZbin. That movie was right up there with other suspense/thrillers of the time such as Jaws, The Andromeda Syndrome, and others that ingrained themselves in the culture of the time. What sent this legendary hit over the top was being included as part of the Saturday Night Live soundtrack, and the rest is history.

You're so much fun to watch when the music moves you and grooves you. Imagine what it did to us back in the day! It was a dance floor scorcher, for sure!

This is like the ultimate song from the so called Disco era!! A timeless classic and the "burn baby burn" chorus has been used in lots of movies so you do have most likely heard it before.

The drummer is Earl Young. 'Young is seen as the inventor of the disco style of rock drumming and is often credited with popularizing four-on-the-floor bass drum beats, and as being the first drummer to make extensive and distinctive use of the hi-hat cymbal throughout the playing time of an R&B song. This led to DJs favoring his recordings because they could hear the cymbal quite easily in their headphones as they "cued up" records to be mixed.'

My own wedding song - that first intro and first few bars are golden and if you don't feel your foot tapping or wanting to dance, you must be numb from the head down.

I was born in 1975. We used to go to a club that had a night called Retro Rewind. We cut a rug to this song in the late 90's. Disco was hot again!!

This song reminds me of being a kid in the 1970s. And my brother Dave. He was singing this in the kitchen once when my mother was cooking. My step-father touched the pan & got burned and my brother at the exact moment sang "Burn Baby Burn". He thought Dave was mocking him but he was doing his thing. It was so funny at the time. Great review Jayvee 👏🏼. Happy Easter 🐣

This song got everybody out on the dance floor! A lot of the Disco's had the floors that were lit from underneath and it was a great time! Miss the 70's and 80's--great music and a lot of fun. Love this song and love what you do Jayvee!!

Back in the 70's there was a club opened in East St. Louis called "The Oz" It wasn't in the best neighborhood but it was a beautiful club with a huge dance floor. A bunch of my friends and I had been learning how to swing dance and disco music was perfect for it. Everybody got dressed to the nines and hit the dance floor. Those were some great times. You could not stay seated when Disco Inferno started to play.

If you want to get the full 70s disco experience you need to watch Saturday Night Fever . Soo many great songs from that movie. I still have the soundtrack I won off the radio & this was with a rotary phone no redial option. I had to be like the 9th caller. I was so excited! Played that album over & over.
