Fun fact about the image at 7:22 for those who don’t know - in the original Odyssey, Odysseus carved part of his marriage bed from an olive tree (yet another symbol representing Athena) and even built his entire palace in Ithaca around it. The bed can’t be moved by anyone unless you cut that tree down. Say what you will, but the man is DEVOTED to Penelope.

If you noticed in the animatic for "Monster" Penelope rips off the headband Odi wears, that's because that headband was Polities' and a constant reminder to Odi to "greet the world with open arms" which is the idioligy that got most of the crew killed. its a cool little symbolizer of Odi breaking away from that idea and embracing Posidens words of 'Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves"

(also Athena was wrong he was not a threat. and going back in to kill him would put Ody and his crew in more danger.

@@supattreewatanawong5025 no. Because Ody never was going tk tell the cyclops his name before Athena arrived. "Let's take the sheep and away we go" he is smart but human. After large amounts of trauma normally needs a trigger to act. In this case Athena telling him to kill another after everything he went through. And going back I to kill the cyclosp puts him and his crew in more danger then leaving, as if the other cyclopses were to hear they would unlikely be able to escape in time. I love Athena and beleive she does care for Ody but the issue is at this point she doesn't care about him enough to understand him. She wants the glory he can give her and leaving the cyclops alive makes Ody weak in the eyes of Greece. This is why her chat with Telemachus is important.

I love that Athena didn't use background chorus in My Goodbye until Odysseus called her alone. Maybe some part of her did believe they were friends until that point, and he was her backup because they were warriors of the mind together. Not sure if someone in chat mentioned this cause it was going by rather fast, but in "The Underworld," the spirits can't see Ody and his crew. They are simply repeating their final thoughts over and over again. Meaning his crew as they drowned were calling out for their captain and wondering why he didn't kill the cyclops; Polites was thinking about peace and greeting the world with open arms, even as Polypemus struck him down; and his mother thinking about how she will be waiting for her son to come home, that she will see him before she dies. I know explained this to death, but I was not okay after learning this 😭

For Ruthlessness, because I will die on this hill if I must: The English word "apology" comes from Greek roots apo + logos, which can be more direcly translated as "story of reason" or "reasonable explanation", which means that as a Greek, Odysseus very much DID apologise to the best of his ability. The whole point of an apology was originally to explain why you ended up doing what you did, and to do it convincingly enough that the person you're apologizing to understood your view point. Poseidon was never going to accept any kind of an apology, because that would have made him a liar for several other things he'd already said.

I love when people who catch details like the callbacks to previous songs. Not all reactions I've watched have caught them. But I should have known Cy Yu of all people would get it. Did anyone tell Cy Yu about how Jorge actually sees it as more... animated than live? Because Jorge is a giant nerd whose inspirations for this are... anime and video games. (The KH inspiration, to me at least, is so obvious.) Or about the actual video game being made?? Though... now I'm sad that he missed all the casting calls and audition chances. I will say, due to some unfortunate circumstance, for the original versions of the Troy and Cyclops sagas the production people didn’t give Jorge and his crew a dime of the royalties they were owed so they re-recorded and redid all the songs for those sagas under his own label (hence why they sound different on Spotify versus here if you wanna react to the new versions 👀)

The thing is Polyphemus is a young cyclops which he was bullied for so his father gave him the sheep and the sheep became his only friends and which Odysseus killed then compared the worth of his friend to the worth of wine so yeah Polyphemus was offended

Epic The Musical has easily become a new favorite of mine. It's honestly kinda ingenious that it's a musical centered around Greek Mythology and stories, specifically the Odyssey. The passion, quality, story telling, interpretation of the characters and gods, all are top notch. Hope you continue to enjoy it Cy as it only gets better and looks like it'll keep getting better as it continues. Fun Fact: After the release of the Thunder Saga, Jorge actually went back and remastered the first two albums, that being the Trojin and Cyclops saga. Not asking for a reaction as they are literally the same songs but with improved vocals, music and mixing, but definitely check them out on your own as they are fantastic and further escalate this already fantastic musical. The remaster of the Cyclops Saga for me personally is a massive improvement, the new music, vocals just make what were some great songs into fantastic tracks for the musical. 2nd Fun Fact: According to some recordings Jorge released as a YT Short on his channel, when Steven sang in the full version of Ruthlessness in the booth, he actual held a trident with him to help get in the mood. Nothing crazy, I just thought that was fun. :)

Jorge did a re-record and re-release of the Troy and Cyclops Saga's due to previous studio he worked with not paying him the dividends(royalties? forgot word,) from it for over a year. everything from the Ocean Saga onwards (including re-releases) is with his own studio to prevent that issue in the future! I think the vid talking about it might still be on his channel,

Point of order, in the original Odyssey Odysseuss never revealed who he was to Polyphemus, Poseidon just figures out it was Odysseus after spotting him on another nearby island later on plus he was already on his shit list for not paying him proper tribute and the fact Poseidon sided with Troy in the war.
