People sometimes take the opening line of this song too literally. If you’ve ever had a migraine light kills you with pain and for me if I close my eyes and put slight pressure on you eyelids it gives you some relief. This video was shot at a fan’s home and the record label had to rebuild this family’s home for them. People see the masks and they sometimes don’t take the time to understand the lyrics. They wire the masks because they wanted to be about the music and not them.

They filmed this video in their hometown in Iowa. A fan told slipknot they could destroy his house because he was going to remodel it. The band invited their fans to be in the video. Slipknot gave the homeowner $50k to help with the remodeling 😂

One of my favorite bands. RIP Joey and Paul. JJ is regarded as the greatest metal drummer of all time in my book. Their lead singer Corey Taylor. Multi talented. Has a solo act and another band. Each member's mask represent something about their personality. Every single one of them have been through something tragic in life. Lyrics mean a lot. This band probably has saved many lives. ❤

slipknot was the first heavy band i got into bein a kid from detroit... it wasnt common and but i can say they're music did save me at times, they have always been down to earth and genuine they talked about the band being the outlet for voices never heard and sharing that with other people life experiance, struggle, failed society etc, and especially for them the 2 albums are a level of anger, distain, and pure emotion that i dont think could ever be recreated in my life time ( also side note in this video it was shot in they're home town des moines iowa and had an exclusive ad to locals to come to the location for a free concert and to be in the video, they rented the house with a promise to keep it clean... they tried lmaooo)

Look up the lyrics. Play it again just the song then read it as you hear it. The more you hear it the more energy you feel. It was on my play list. There was work out days that lasted a few hours and once I got home the next day it was hard to go into work the extra day. Slipknot, system of a down, rage against the machine, dethklok, korn, Metallica and so many others. If I get back to it my weight would drop fast.

To explains the masks, members of slipknot roatate in and out. Pretty much all of them are more known for their roles in other bands, and when the project started, they decided to make their masks to both cover their identities, and so that the project to excell on its own merits as opposed to "hey, have you heard of so and sos new band?". They dont hide their identities with much real effort, as nowadays, and even around when they first started coming out their names were somewhat easy to find. Every member has their own mask. In regards to slipknot, check out Custer, and Frail Limbs Nursery+Purity. In regards to other rock/metal, PLEASE listen to some System of a Down. The temptation is to start with chop suey, their most popular song, but i recommend either going with BYOB, Revenga, Cigaro, or Sugar.

While I can concur that Duality is a decent place to start as an intro to Slipknot, I might have suggested the audio version as the masks thing can be a little distracting. Don't discount them quite yet, delve a little further into their music and I think you'll find their groove.
