I’m no pilot but have watched 100’s of videos. This CFI is probably the best I’ve watched. He lets the student fly and learn without doing it for him. Love these series. Our son is starting his PPL next Spring, hope his instructions is this good.

Great job, both of you! I am closing in on hour 10 of my PPL training, and man is it a ride. Saturday, I couldn't land to save my life. Tuesday, we went out to get me past the ghosts the bad landings raised in my head. 11/12 were pure butter. The 12th wasn't all bad, but man, what a difference. My instructor was a passenger essentially. Said that if the weather had been better, he would have been comfortable with letting me do a solo pattern. Drove to work feeling like a million bucks after that. No doubt I'll be brought back down again, but no matter what, get back in the saddle and practice!

How do you organize yourself to pay for the training and the rentals ?

@@duanifilmz5585 I had some money saved up for this. I'm 46 and have always worked so I was able to finance it all myself despite being in a part of the world where it's more expensive than in the US. I also made a budget beforehand, not only for flight training, but for the type of flying I would do once I am a licensed pilot, to make sure it fits in my life financially. Currently ground school is every Saturday an we occasionally fly (Winter is really Winter here), and I have the ability to actually fly some during the day and work late or early to compensate. That is quite helpful as well.

I am in my ppl training as well and was having trouble with Landings and got super down on myself but I showed up the next day and had improved so much and the landings were so much better! So important to keep showing up even when it gets frustrating at times!!

@@alexisnicole5613 Indeed! Suddenly it just falls into place. I had a really bad solo circuit the other day, and actually cut it short by half an hour after a couple of bad landings. It was quite windy, and when I finally managed a decent one I made it a full stop in order to end on a high note. Earned some praise from my instructor for calling it a day when the wind started to male me uncomfortable.

Great Job! I will say, I feel a sense of anxiety watching the power hand resting on the mixture control. Glad to see he's working on it. I always rest my index finger on the panel at the power control... this gives me the anchor I need to maintain control during turbulence.

First off, I love rooting for this guy. Next, there’s something that I added as a call out to myself whether I am full stop, touch and go or go around: “Lift, twist, push.” This reminds me every time to lift the flaps, twist the trim and push the carb heat in.

I appreciate the warning in the intro, but I definitely learn little things here and there seeing as I haven’t even had my intro flight yet haha. I’ve been learning VFR charts and basics before I jump into any education that way I can be prepared and these videos help me with the radio and terms of some things. Need to get my textbooks soon. Anyways hope my CFI is as good as you haha your I learn best from people with positive attitudes like yourself, but still professional, well, my ADHD likes it. Also I’m hyper focused for the past week on anything aviation, I guess I have that so-called bug haha

you ever gonna get in a plane with proper placement of the wings again? Great teaching lesson. Still remember battling the winds when I was training. Learning controls and slips in those conditions were extremely valuable. Lessons I still use today.

Great job Jonathan. I went through the exact same struggles with ground effect and bouncing, learning in strong winds to boot, but finally conquered it and soloed this past Wed. Hang in there. I had to make the same call on a recent lesson. Winds gusting to 27, i tried one approach and gave up the controls to my cfi on final. It was just too much going on trying to fight the wind. i didnt feel like i could progress my learning with that much wind and only about 5 hours into training. It was a fun ride though, and good experience

You really need to experience at least 15 knot gusts with a CFI in the cockpit. I got to fly in some crappy weather with my CFI, but somehow the first time I landed in strong gusts were coming back from my solo cross-country. The winds picked up everywhere at once contrary to all TAFs ever published, so there was no choice but to land. Luckily it was straight down the runway and I ended up just fine, but you definitely want to have experienced that before by the time it happens to you when you're alone.

Love this series! My pattern and approaches were near perfect early on. But like your student I really struggled with round out and flare. I could never feel the plane “get into ground effect” so I found myself skipping the round out and instead panic flaring when I realized I was closer than I thought. Question though, what’s with the “VOR/GPS?” placard? Oh and how did that student’s solo go?

Florida seems saturated with flight training. I fly out of Ocala, and it is always busy. I feel like I should buy the controllers a Christmas present for all the shenanigans they put up with 😀. Honesty, they do a wonderful job! Still trying to find a nice airport for T&Gs, Ocala is just too saturated with traffic. With that being said, I am all about flight training, and encourage people to get into aviation, just keep your head on a swivel!

I am a student pilot and currently struggling with my round out. I often tend to balloon while rounding out maybe because I'm applying more back pressure. Can you tell me where I should keep my nose to have a perfect round out and flare? You said nose at the end of the runway. It is true for Cessna too?

Well. We didn’t know we’d be sitting for 30 minutes so regardless of what we decided to do, we’d have to wait to takeoff again. But then flying elsewhere would just take more time and there are other people that use this aircraft after we fly, so we are bound by a schedule. You better believe we won’t be using Orlando Executive for landings training anymore though 😂

Great job. I did my airspace endorsement for my sport license yesterday at SFB. After at least 6 360s on the monroe arrival, finally got my 3 landings in. Including 2 short approaches from like 1000 feet where i would normally be like 800 feet turning base. And the wind was hellish.
