So an interesting note that is really good foreshadowing is the smoke coming off people. It comes off Eren in cadet training when he hits his head, it comes off Reiner after he escapes Annie's grasp. The smoke indicates that the titan shifters are healing their wounds rapidly using their abilities. Also, one REALLY good indication that Bertholtd was a titan was the moment last episode when Ymir went to save them. In that moment with Historia, Reiner, and Bertholtd on the tower, he has his hand up in a biting position. He was going to transform to save himself and Reiner.

After that episode I went back to the reveal that Eren was a titan and suddenly it made a lot of sense why Annie, Reiner and Berthold were standing closely together and arguing for the rampaging titan. I am sure they were surprised to see Eren coming out of the nape, but I'm also sure they had a suspicion that it had to be someone like them.

Man to be honest, I really did not expect that kind of reveal when I first watched it. I mean it's like the best example of "subverting our expectations" scenario. That scene alone cemented AOT as the greatest anime of all time for me, and now it's undoubtedly one of the best shows in the planet. Also both Reiner and Bertholdt's betrayal hurts more if you really think about the bond they shared with Eren and the rest of the scouts. The music and the entire episode is a masterpiece.

I was waiting for you to get to this one!! The first time I watched this, I was all relaxed, laid back on my chair and then sat straight back all of a sudden. They were like "oh nice weather, isn't it? Btw, I'm the Armor Titan and he's the Colossal" Of course I had to pause it!! Unlike you, I didn't see it coming at all, never suspected both of them... I couldn't believe it. But when they showed the flashback and the implications of what happened on the Annie arc... I almost cried of relief when Reiner "escaped" Annie's grip. I felt so betrayed 🤣 All my respect to Mikasa for being the one jumping immediately to the action and Eren for finally using those emotions to fight without doubting it so much. The way they did this, the music...this is definitely my top 1 best reveals ever

For me, when I saw it, I was confused and didn't really process it. I read it again and thought maybe there's something wrong with the subtitles or maybe I'm not getting it, and kept watching. My piece of advice, and it might be difficult, but if you are someone who hasn't seen the most recent episodes, you should probably avoid reading comments discussing AOT. At least up until you watch the episode. Sometimes its hard because even THUMBNAILS! can spoil shit... It's frustrating. Some content creators just can't resist it. Because people will always talk. The only reactor I saw who predicted Bertholdt was the Colossal Titan beforehand is Filmbuff, but this guy is insanely smart. And even he wondered for a long time who the Colossal Titan could be and only thought of Bertholdt when he said "Reiner used to be more of a warrior" in 2x04 (because he remembered Annie calling herself a failed warrior in 1x23). As for me, I didn't see any of that coming! I noticed it when Reiner said "5 years ago we destroyed the wall...", but in the few seconds between that sentence and "I'm the Armoured Titan and he's the Colossal Titan", my mind went to "damn they botched the translation in the subtitles" then to "I must have misunderstood, the subtitles weren't very clear" (kinda hard to explain, I first watched this show with French subtitles, I thought I read "il y a 5 ans ON a détruit le mur...", and in French "on" can mean "we" or "somebody" depending on context)... "wait WHAT?!". Then I had to pause and go back too (and see that no, the subtitles were very clear and said "NOUS avons détruit...")

I paused it too when they revealed it. Then stared into space for quite some time, and started to sweat. Berthold was the reason i never have suspected Reiner. He looks so normal and Reiner was like big brother to the squad. What an unexpected twist
