Dimash was raised speaking Russian as well as Kazak as Kazakhstan only became a free republic from the soviet empire in 1991 and Dimash was born in 1994. His "mama/grandmother thought it was best he be fluent in both languages. This song is in Russian, and I think he is actually relieved to be singing in one of his native tongues. Vitas, a Russian composer and singer wrote and sang this piece. When he heard this version by Dimash, he sent him legal papers to Dimash to NEVER sing the song again. The epitome of jealously. Dimash was raised to honor people not kick against them and he honored the request.

So, there's an extended version of this, which shows his thanks and whatnot afterwards and if you noticed during the performance the camera kept going to one of the men in the audience, that man is Dimash's father. This was the second week and Dimash hadn't been away from home or family for this length of time and was really missing them, but with their work schedules as well, they couldn't be with him, however the show was able to get his dad to come out and surprise him and in the extended cut you see Dimash looking off to the side of the stage as he didn't see him in the audience beforehand and once he gets off the stage gives his dad a massive hug and almost doesn't let go. Then as they walk out of the auditorium he keeps asking his dad if he did well. Also, he has said if he knew his dad was in the audience he probably wouldn't have been as 'cheeky' with the song. SO glad he didn't know his dad was there! Great performance, thanks for reacting to it!

We are so thankful for the attention you are giving to Dimash. I learned that Vitas, the owner of this song, is no longer allowing Dimash to sing it. While it may be true that the organizers of the singing competition did not get Vitas' permission before this performance, I think that is not the only reason for his action. The thing is, before Dimash's arrival in China, Vitas was so popular in that country. But when the Chinese heard Dimash sang this song they cheered for him. While Vitas popularity was waning, Dimash's was rising. Also, people started comparing the two singers and most of the time the pleasant words were given to Dimash. I have read some materials and heard some videos where it is said that China is Vitas' second home because of the audience's attention he was getting there then Dimash arrived and the rest is history.

There is footage where a young Dimash was invited on to a show (in China I think) where the two comperes have written funny words to this song and ask Dimash to sing it there and then. Dimash is helpless with laughter.

Dimash was in China for the first time alone, what he didn't know was that his father had travelled to China and was there to see him. Otherwise Dimash wouldn't be so cheeky 😝 if he new that his father was in the crowd.

This is a Vitas song, A famous Russian singer/song writer. He's pretty famous in China too. Sadly Dimash can no longer sing this song as after this episode aired Vitas had his lawyers draw up a cease and desist order from singing his songs. There is also an English subtitled version where you see a bit more of the video and you see his dad in the audience. (Dimash didn't know he was there). Such a sweet moment.

There is a man who's referred to as the Human Violin, this is his song. The high parts represent the wind whistling, as the lyrics are talking about how he has built his house but the wind keeps rattling and whistling at his doors and windows. Our DEARest took what he did then outdid him twice more, with 5 high repeats instead of the original 3. He also adds the staccati in high 4. This was Dimash putting on a show! 💞🦌

There is a longer version of this video that explains that Dimash had been away from home on the show in China for quite a while and his father was hidden in the audience. Very touching and sweet interaction between Dimash and Kanat (his father). If you haven’t already acknowledged, I think it’s safe to call you a Dear! :)

This song was well known in China and Asia. Vitas sang it, but his voice isn’t as melodic or rich and he only made two modulations, Dimash does four. there is another video of this performance with English subtitles, where Dimash doesn’t know that his father has flown in from Kazakhstan to surprise him. He is the man who does the fist pump at the end. Dimash had told his entourage that he was homesick and missed his parents.

Opera 2 is a song written by Russian Singer Vitas. Vitas sang the song a bit different from Dimash. After this Vitas restricted Dimash from singing his song because some of Dimash's fans made it their duty to go up on one of Vitas' websites and tell him that Dimash sings better than him.

You haven't seen very many Dimash perfomances, I guess. This is a fun little piece where he uses a certain style to play to the audience. In other performances, he uses different techniques and styles, sometimes even in the same piece--from Rap to Asian/Middle Eastern ethnic to Pop to Opera. There's a lot more to him than this simple purposely over-done piece (and his off-stage generous and humble personality adds another dimension.) But whatever...if you don't like him, you don't.
