This is the one performance you needed the back story and closed captions on. This song is incredibly sad and based on a true tragic story about a cable car accident in China that killed 13 people. It was written by Han Hong and it’s from a very young boys perspective. He was trapped in the rubble with his parents and they lifted him up to safety right before they died. The songwriter went on to adopt the boy and wrote this song. It’s my favorite performance of his.

This song is known well to the audience, and there is an amazing backstory to the song, which the audience also knows. Dimash sings it in a way they have never seen before. The amazing venue has water fountains built in, and the audience must surely love when the water is used. When Dimash starts the song, he casually walks out to the front stage, in front of the water. The audience would know what this means. He builds the drama with the audience so well, starting even before the song starts. They know the song. They know the water will be used. Dimash is a magician.

A Chinese singer/songwriter Han Hong wrote this song. In 1999 A cable car accident took the lives of 14 passengers except a couple held their son up to break his fall and he was the only survivor. Han Hong heard of the tragedy and adopted the boy. Dimash performed this song during the 2017 Singer competition but he had lost his voice the night before, went to the hospital, got 5 injections in the throat to help with the swelling, and performed. I feel like this version is a reattack of the song, of how he wanted to sing it. I mean the Singer version is still good, but this one was more powerful of a performance. Han Hong actually called Dimash during the Singer competition to talk to him to express how pleased she was that he chose her song to sing. They did meet on episode 14 of the Singer 2017. He's born May 24, 1994, so as of February 2023 he's 28. This was the Bastau concert in 2017, July I think so he would have been 23. His first big arena concert 40,000 people.

At "I'm A Singer" (China 2017), Dimash was to present the song "Daybreak", sung for the first time in Mandarin, by Dimash. With sad lyrics, but based on a real Chinese story of a Chinese boy (Quon Yan), who, along with his family, suffered a cable car accident in Xingyi city in Guizhou province, where 52 people died, but the boy's parents they supported him with their hands and he survived, although his parents died. The song was written and composed by the boy's adoptive mother (Han Hong). In “I’m a Singer” 2017Dimash had a sore throat and sang with injections. The doctor said that if he sang high notes, he would never sing again... He sang! In his first big concert in Kazakhstan (Bastau 2018): he repeated the song (now fully curated) and gave an anthological performance!

I can't believe you haven't gotten into the habit of putting subtitles on yet. The lyrics are powerful and they're also based on a true story. Dimash has been training since he was five and performing almost since then. He first came onto the World wide scene because of the Chinese competition show when he was 22 years old in 2017. This song was written based on a real-life tragic event : a cable car accident in China, 1999, which claimed the life of 14 tourists. In the cable car there was also a couple with their small child. When the cable car fell, they held the child in the air with their lasts efforts and hope that it would break the impact force for the child. The child indeed survived. The parents didn`t. Han Hong, chinese singer and songwriter, struck by the tragedy, she adopted the child. She also wrote "Daybreak" to commemorate the parents` sacrifice and hope for their child`s life. She wrote it as if from the child`s perspective. Dimash first sang "Daybreak" during "The Singer" competition. Han Hong gave him her blessing. He performed it beautifully, even though he was sick and had lost his voice. Later that year, 2017, back home in Kazakhstan after the competition, in his first huge solo concert (called 'Bastau') he performed "Daybreak" once more, while in good health. This was the result. The high register sections he included in his performance of this are meant to express the despair of the child. This was the song and performance that, for me, turned Dimash from an extremely interesting singer, into The singer that I appreciate the most. This song was written and composed by Han Hong. It's about this mother father and son riding a cable cart that the cable ripped off because of the excess weight that was carrying. Everyone died except this child because of the efforts of the parents. This happened in China. Han Hong heard of this accident and decided to adopt this child and this song was written in the child's perspective, it's a cry to his parents.

Britt, in answer to your questions: Dimash is 28, he will be 29 in May. Really, his career singing on stage began when he was 5. When he was 6 he won a national piano contest. He began winning prestigious national singing competitions when he was 16. He won his first international singing competition, Slavic Bazaar, when he was 21. He went to China's "I am Singer" TV competition for professionals when he was 22. He had just turned 23 before his Bastau solo concert, where this performance of "Daybreak" took place in a sold-out arena of 30,000 fans.

In the province of Guizhou, in China, there are the Huangguoshu falls where the cable car accident ocurred and Dimash represented them in his Bastau concert with those impressive water fountains. Their performances and their settings are magnificent, they always have a story behind them and are full of many details regarding the song, so it is convenient to know their stories and their lyrics, with positive and very emotional messages. He feels everything he sings and gives a good message, related to life, love and peace. That is something unusual today and much more in a young man. After years he still makes me cry. In Daybreak especially when he says that: "He wanted to build a beautiful garden for their parents" 😥Me too.

He flew into California a couple fo days ago. Most likely moving here for the year as he is pursuing a degree in film directing in NY. That will be a 4th degree for him and this one will be from the N.Y. School of Film Directing and Arts. He will turn 29 May 24th.

During an interview Dimash said when he first learned of the backstory to this song it left him shaking. He prefers performing songs that have a deeper meaning. I think that most of us prefer to listen to Dimash in this sad, emotional repertoire that moves us to the depths of hearts His voice and this how he interprets songs, how he communicates emotions In 1999, in the south-west China, there was a tragic accident A cable car jumped up and fell from a height, there were people inside Some of them died, some survived with injuries There was also a young couple with their 2.5 year old son who, in the face of this tragedy, kept the child up high to cushion this fall And they succeeded, the boy survived Unfortunately they both died in this accident Hong Han was shocked by the story And she was so overwhelmed that she adopt the boy after a while. He wrote the song two years later and she tells the story of this day from the boy's perspective. it was a beautiful day. And Dimash must somehow face these emotions Dimash unfortunately fell ill and it was an inflammation of the throat I think or maybe something like what happened recently and trust me, So I think there is nothing worse for a singer before the show rather than infection of the vocal cords While this is a concert - you can postpone it but here is the competition, live, so there is no such option so the atmosphere was nervous of course, they tried to heal Dimash and save him from oppression just before the performance, one of the participants gave him a mysterious vial of liquid I do not know what it was - maybe some Chinese mixture? but it probably helped ;-) I'm sure many of you have heard this performance from the Bastau concert from Dimash's solo concert which was a few months later in Kazakhstan and the fact is that performance is better than this (imho) First - he sang a little differently, i like more version from Bastau and maybe actually during the program he did not feel comfortable because of illness, so next performance is better because he was healthyI couldn't speak I've tried several times to record Daididau reaction I started, I said two sentences, and unfortunately my voice broke it's just that we're trying to get some sound, but we have absolutely no control over it voice "fly" in a completely different direction and brings us a different sound than we would like to get So I think there is nothing wo
