Dimash and the composer of this song, Igor Krutoy (at the piano), often use archetypes in their music. This epic piece evokes the journey of soul (wandering in ancient times, haunted by memories, and lost loves ) as it finds itself in an expanded state of awareness (new ground, chance to know who I am, begin again). Hesitantly at first, he even stumbles a bit, but with growing confidence, Dimash takes us on a journey and with that last refrain, he totally owns this new ground. Like in many of his arrangements, Dimash incorporates sacred music traditions of different cultures and ages into something uniquely his own. The music of ancient cultures often used chants, overtone singing, and melismatic techniques to induce a hypnotic trance in the listener. Dimash is not only aware of the power of music to alter one’s state of consciousness, he wields this power masterfully, but always with great respect. His friend since his teenage years, Erlan Bekchurin, is a brilliant arranger and knows exactly what Dimash wants to accomplish. Together they create magic. Dimash insisted on the use of the kobyz, an instrument which was used in Kazakh shamanism to communicate with spirits, and it fits beautifully. The best Kobyz player in the world, Dimash’s friend Olzhas Qurmanbeck, performs masterfully as always.

Thanks for a great reaction, Nick. The Chinese talent show you referenced took place in 2017 and was called, I Am a Singer. All of Dimash's performances on that show are well worth experiencing, but I think a good many of us found "Adagio" to be one of the most spectacular vocal performances by anyone--ever! Another exciting Dimash performance is "Olimpico," and you might want to start with the one that is on Igor Krutoy's channel since it has the most views. Others that deserve to be seen sooner rather than later are "Your Love," "Love Is Like a Dream," "Love of Tired Swans," "Ikanaide," and "Across Endless Dimensions." And don't forget the Kazakh language folk songs---they're all wonderful. And "Marigolds" would be a great introduction to "his natural singing voice,"---especially with Mother's Day coming up and the reaction of his mother in the audience to the performance in Kyiv.

Thanks for your reactions, Dimash was on the 2017 chinese TV program (competition) "I AM SINGER" (singer). The format was a number of invited guests, all singers or groups, and an audience of 500 people. Dimash was invited on a trial basis. Several people recognized that SOS, Dimash's Episode one choice wonder why he is greated with loud cheering from the audience. Reason: they had been sitting listening to all the information and instructions. It was complicated, they were not only listening and reacting to perfomers, they were the judges. The loud greating for "unknown" Dimash was because he was the first performer on the firse episode for 2017. I'll try to find the package that was the total performances by Dimash for the full season. I'm not sure if it still exists. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!

1 reactor went through that video that was every performance and it ended with his week 10 song. I had to tell her there were 4 weeks and 3 songs by Dimash left to go. He had a bye for week 11, so he had no performance that time. Actually the week 13 song was the Finals and week 14 was just extra that didn't effect the outcome. And if not for him getting 2nd as he was not a Chinese National, they wouldn't have changed the rules which allowed Jessie J to compete and win the next year in 2018! 🎶🎶👱‍♀👱‍♀👗👗👠👠❤❤

The talent show that propelled him into the stratosphere was a Chinese show called I Am Singer. It was a show for well-known, already established singers in China & Dimash was invited to take part as a wild card that they expected to last a couple of weeks. Little did they know what they had in Dimash. He was the youngest contestant and unknown to the audience. He was the first time sing & he performed SOS & by the next morning hus performance had gone viral!! He was told he would need security around him but he didn't believe it! He blew the audience away with every performance & won several shows but came 2nd overall as they would not have a non-Chinese win the whole thing I think. He made some great friends among the other contestants and ended up staying in China for 3+ years. He appeared on multiple programmes and made an album which went double platinum within minutes of being released apparently. One if the shows he did was a reality show called Suoer Shine Brothers which shows him in all different kinds of situations and he did great! He was learning both Chinese & English while there, such a hard thing to do. There is lots of footage of him with his Chinese Dears in airports etc and he was so sweet with them and they absolutely loved him. I hope you look for all of this as it shows him in different situations, not just singing, and you really get a picture of him as a modest, lovely young man, which only adds to why people love him Thank you again for another great reaction & enjoy the ride you're on!!! 😊❤

The competition show that gave Dimash the opportunity to soar was The Singer, from China and in 2017, If you look at the faces on the contestants, one would assume they would be freaked out. While they were freaked out, it wasn't because of envy or fear, it was due to pure appreciation. This is the other wonderful aspect of Dimash (the young man/the old soul). They were all happy for him and totally supported his journey. It's what he does. It's who he is. While all of us Dears love him for his musical abilities, we mostly love and appreciate him for who he is!! I'm a 71 year old man and I've seen many performers and heard a lot of music in my time. Dimash is something special and we are all blessed with the ability to know him, to watch him and to hear him. Finally, blessing to Dimash's parents, Kanat and Svetlana Aitbayeva, who have been so instrumental in creating this wonderful person!!! The third canonical performance for Dimash beginners is Sinful Passion. He stays within a "normal" male range for most of the song before letting off a vocal firework towards the end, so it is a little bit what you were asking for at the end. The lyrics are in Russian, but the English subtitles in the version with the most views are good. It is a song about unrequited love, and Dimash uses his palette of vocal colors to illustrate the lyrics, asking, pleading, commanding, begging, being desperate to great effect. That's where he is best in my opinion. It was also a crucial point in his carreer, because it was the moment that Igor Krutoy, a big figure in the Russian music business, decided to become active as a composer again and work with Dimash as a mentor. He wrote the music to Stranger, sat at the piano, and is the head behind the New Wave music festival in Sochi, where Dimash appears regularly as a special guest.

New Wave is a talent show in Sochi, Russia but Dimash has never taken part as a contestant, he was a judge in this year in 2021 and did a few guest spots. The song he sang directly before this one Your Love (also composed by Igor) covered 4 1/2 octaves. He says he’s a Tenor but obviously he’s comfortable anywhere! The pianist who composed this song for Dimash is Russian Billionaire Music Mogul Igor Krutoy. He is the mastermind for this competition. Dimash first did a guest spot here in 2018 (Sinful Passion, Sochi 2018), and Igor Krutoy came out of retirement on the back of that performance to compose for him. They are a marriage made in heaven since Igor has written many masterpieces for Dimash to sing since then as well as Dimash singing some of Igor’s amazing older songs. Of course, Dimash has many people writing for him as well as his own amazing compositions. His two latest masterpieces being The Story of One Sky and El Amor En Ti.

Qaragym-Ai is a great example for no acrobatics at all - just a deeply emotional song in his native language (it is always special and deeply personal when he sings Kazakh songs as he is adorably proud of his heritage). In the show he was on, (I Am Singer/Singer)he was competing against already-known singers. He came in 2nd because he was not Chinese. (They later changed the rules and Jessie J won the next year.) They brought him on as a wildcard, not knowing what they were in for. S.O.S. was his first song, and it was all over. He became an instant celebrity. Dimash has many songs like that, pop, where he stays in 2 or three octaves like 95% of the singers and it sounds great because he does everything almost perfectly... but since I didn't get introduced to Dimash listening to pop music Well, I'm much more inclined towards Dimash's style, which really makes him look unbeatable, where he demonstrate his wide vocal range completely in harmony and impeccably interpreted... We all have our interpretations of this song but I belive it is about people displaced by war and he is singing different voices to represent different peoples.🎶💐💐💐🎶 The Chinese contest The Singer 2017 is different than AGT/The Voice type contests. All the contestants are professional experienced singers. Dimash was a wildcard contestant who performed SOS song first because they expected him to crash and burn, against top Chinese vocalists. No fear but lots of surprise and shock. Dimash became a mega-star that night and needed body guards by the next day. 🤣🤣🤣 For "normal range-type" songs in English- try Golden MV, Be with Me MV, Give me your love 2021, Screaming Idol Hits, Fly Away, and Weekend /Turkyie 2023. 😉 I also think you will love the Sci-Fi movie OST Across Endless Dimensions which has only 1 small part out of normal range. 🥰 Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

New Wave is a Competition for young and newly emerging artists. Dimash did compete there in the past. Here he is returning as an established International Artist, as a Headline Act and also Guest Judge. The famous Composer; Igor Krutoy, whom you see there on the piano, and who came out of retirement to write for the voice of Dimash, composed this piece and also his unique version of 'Ave Maria'. These two performance's and his (completely different style) Fly Away were premiered at this event. Igor and Dimash gave the young Competitors additional and valuable performance experience by involving them as the Choir, in the first two pieces presented. Dimash had many songs where he stays within a certain range, especially the Kazakh songs like Samaltau, Qairan Elim, Qaragym Ai, but also songs from his time in China where he was marketed as a pop idol with songs like Couldn't Leave, The Crown, Restart My Love, etc. The Singer competition is fun and if you want great reactions then I'd recommend Adagio from Singer. New Wave is an international singing competition but Dimash was not a contestant here, he was a judge but also premiered Stranger, Fly Away and Ave Maria.

@@nickforellreacts there's also a brand new amazing club/dance track he's just premiered at his concert last Saturday with world famous Turkish DJ Burak Yeter called The Weekend. We're hoping for an official release as it's completely different to anything he's ever done before and so far there's only fancams available but the trouble with Dimash is that he's a perfectionist and if he's not 100% happy with something then it may never see the light of day, there's numerous songs from past concerts that he's only sung once and even with pleadings from the Dears have never seen the light of day again.

I’m sure someone mentioned he can hit notes in almost 8 octaves and sings constantly in 6😅. Though not always in one song. Mostly anyway 😅, right? That was not a joke. He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Kobysz for that. The kobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. Igor Krutoy is a famous Russian-Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter. He came out of retirement specifically to work with Dimash when he first heard him. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range (no kidding), like Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You'll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It's more of a father-son relationship. Dears have different interpretations of the lyrics. You also can interprete reincarnation. What many don’t know is that Sharon Vaughn wrote a second verse for Stranger, though Dimash didn’t sing it during the New Wave performance. You can find them on his YT channel in Russian. I got the translation from a Dear. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among other countries. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time. I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. The Matrix tries to seduce him, but he fights the temptation and wants to fly away to find his own way. He finally manages to escape and witnesses the death of everyone left in it. And the final song of this trilogy is Ave Maria. That's our soul's fly to the heaven. Absolutely stunning masterpiece . A phenomenal trilogy. Phenomenal Dimash.

I think a performance of Qyaragym-ai is perfect to show Dimash singing without vocal acrobatics. It is a song written by his beloved professor at collage, who died from covid and Dimash wanted to show his love and respect so it is very emotional and Dimash struggles to get through it. The pianist on stage with him was a pupil too. The two of them in an empty stage, empty theatre is simply exquisite. studio because of covid. Very intimate. Only one little run with a high note. It’s stunning. But Dimash has a few ‘straightforward’ songs, all are beautiful.

His more contemporary songs typically sit in his middle range for the most part. I'd recommend the music video for Be With Me. It will also give you a taste for his filmographic art as well. When he composes music, like with Be With Me, he has a pop leaning. Michael Jackson is a big influence. The song you watched here was composed by Igor Krutoy, who was also the pianist. He is a very famous composer in Russia and he normally has someone else writing lyrics. I'm not sure how much involvement Dimash had with the lyrics in this case. He works with Igor Krutoy on many occasions. New Wave is also organized by Igor Krutoy and others. It is a competition but I believe Dimash has only ever been a guest performer. He was a competitor in China's I Am Singer in 2017 and The World's Best which aired on CBS in 2019. Avoid anything to do with The World's Best. They invited Dimash under false pretenses and cut his performances to pieces in editing not to mention disrespecting him and the Qazaq culture when he bowed out after finding out he was competing against children.

However, the best video to watch Dimash singing in a competition where you can see the other contestants reactions, is his performance on the show "I am a Singer" in 2017. He sings the song SOS, d'un terrien en détresse. You already reacted to a 2021 version of that song, but the version on the show " I am a Singer" was the first time he sang that song to a large audience, and this is the moment he was discovered by the world. Hola desde Nicaragua. En las canciones pop el canta de manera más fácil ejm Give me your love, Be With Me, Zhalyn, Okey etc. El programa New Wave antes concursó ahora es el invitado de honor. En 2016 había ganado el Bazar eslavo en Bielorrusia, pero el concurso que lo lanzó a la fama internacional fué I am Singer en China en 2017, fué invitado porque alguien conocia a alguien que conocía al director del concurso. Fué invitado como experimento porque ese concurso era solo para cantantes famosos chinos, así que pensaron que se iría en la segunda ronda 😂. Quedó en segundo lugar por política del programa pero todos están de acuerdo que quien merecia ganar era Dimash. Te recomiendo que veas cada vídeo de cada canción completo si quieres ver la reacción ylo que comentan los otros concursantes. También es bueno que lo hagas en orden comenzando con SOS que fué la primera. En ese concurso el juez era el público que eran 500 personas con conocimientos musicales, así de difícil era. Que disfrutes este viaje que estás empezando en el mundo Dimash ❤

Hello from Russia, Nick. Thank you for a heartfelt and sincere reacton. If you want to hear Dimash sing "normally" without vocal fireworks try "Qaragym-Ai" which he sings in his native Kazakh. It's a song about a father parting with his beloved daughter who is about to get married and leave her home. The lyrics are as much important as the music. And. once again, Dimash is NOT a polyglot. He speaks both Kazakh and Russian from his early childhood and he knows SOME English which he speaks ungrammatically but understandably. To do him justice, his English is rapidly getting better.

There is nothing like like seeing Dimash live. It is proof positive the entire song comes from him. The talent show he was on was a couple of years ago AMERICA'S BEST and all his numbers except the first are cut short, I guess because of the time factor. Anyway, every Dear is bitter about it because of what happened. Basically, Dimash asked to drop out the next to last performance. He found out he was competing with children and it was in his contract that he did not. In his country the adults encourage the children and do not compete with them but help them grow. Yap..we understand..Dimash has so many songs to choose from. He has a lot of mellow songs too or kinna pop or techno type. I enjoyed best were the love or ballad songs coz his voice shines more and emotion overload. Dimash so much stage charisma that he is mesmerizing to watch. I dont even want to blink in case i might miss something😅I love your reactions and waiting for more.❤❤dear from canada

At the end he was praising Igor Krutoy, the amazing composer who wrote the song (also the man who played the piano) and his fellow countryman Olzhas Qurmanbek who played the Kobyz. New Wave is a competition show, but Dimash was not there as a competitor. Dimash premiered 3 songs during the week long competition, which 2 of the songs Igor wrote. Igor is also the founding member of the New Wave competition show for young performers. In 2018 he came out of retirement after hearing Dimash sing Sinful Passion.

The talent show was "I'm singer 2017" he was the first contestant who open the show, he performed SOS in his first performance. just watch it! Different from the SOS that u already watched. I like that SOS version the most. I falling in love to dimash because of that performance
