This performance was in Kazakhstan (Gakku TV is a Kazakh television channel. I heard there were about 150,000 spectators and the city center had to be completely closed) and Dimash wrote this song when he was 19 years old and of course in Kazakh. The lyrics were written by Oral Baissengir. There he hit his highest note so far, his famous D8. You don't need to look for this note on the piano, the keys weren't enough for that anymore. Some say the tone isn't exactly pleasing to the ear, but it doesn't make it any less spectacular. Incidentally, Dimash himself said that this was not actually intended. He probably wanted to sing his "normal" G#7, but when he did, no sound came out of his throat. When he started again, the C8 came and then the D8. A 5 second accident with vibrato 😂. Only Dimash can do this. And then he continues as nothing has happened. Some joke that he actually sang the note before, but realized that we earthlings can't hear notes that high, so he "only" sang the D8.

Oh wow. I figured something was up when he waved the mic around...cause I know the G7 or G#7 is the note he usually hits at that moment. The very first time I saw the Gakku performance of this song, I thought his mic had briefly gone out. But I also heard somewhere, an interview or something, that he was in the moment. So he failed to hit the G#7...but C#8-D8 comes out instead?! Much higher than the note he intended?! And after hitting that insanely high whistle note, he gets up and keeps singing. The seemingly effortless D8 makes me wonder how much higher he can actually sing. Ok, it's official. He's an alien. 👽👽👽

That mic trick is to prove that he is singing live and not lipsynced which is what he had been accused of, also to prove there is no autotune, impossible at that speed of changing notes. Simply the best!UKDear.💖🇬🇧

@@MdRobin-bv5gv Robin, after a decade of watching him, I respectfully say with 20 plus years of disciplined world class training that is ongoing, and years onstage, I don't believe that note was an accident. When I first watched it, I thought what the heck is he doing ? Ya gotta love him, he tried it one time, didn't get it, successful on the 2nd try and I thought only Dimash, now I'm going to hit one of the impossible Ds smack on the nose. Then I thought fabulous ! Now you can talk to dolphins, another tool in the toolbox ! Hee !😁 I've seen him fierce when challenging himself. Here it was again ! Thanks 🙏. Patty

Dimash loves to interact with the crowd. He’s a security nightmare. He usually comes off the stage at the end to get close to the crowd. I got to touch him in Dubai. OMG. I’m a 78 year old U K lady acting like a teenager, lol. If someone in the audience calls out something funny, he laughs and has to take a moment to compose himself. One lady in Germany, had a plaque to say it was her birthday and he stopped to sing happy birthday to her, He even asked her name so he could sing it properly. He’s such a sweetheart. Once at an airport, the young fans were trying to get close and he told the security not to worry, he said they were just girls.

This is the performance that proves Dimash is human like the rest of us, he said later in an interview that he failed to produce the note he was aiming for (probably the G7) readjusted and hit the D8 instead. If you want to hear something truly beautiful from him then I would advise listening to his latest performance of If I Never Breathe Again from the Almaty concert. It's the third song in on part 1 of the concert.

Britt, thanks for another great reaction! Yep. The D8. Usually, the note he hits there is a G#7, but he was in the moment, he said once in an interview. The D8 was a C#8-D8 slide, 5 seconds sustained, with vibrato. 🤯🤯🤯🤯 I had never heard a sustained whistle note before in my life. And it amazed me as well that he was able to get up and keep singing, hitting that strong D5 at the end. Makes me wonder if he could hit higher notes than that. That D8 seemed effortless to him. 🤯

That dolphin whistle has been certified as a D8 which is not present on most musical keyboards including the grand piano. Others have already told the interesting story of how Dimash came to sing that note at that time. The concert was held in Gakku in Belorussia which is basically a country on the west of Russia while Dimash's Kazakhstan is basically east or south-east of Russia. So he was a long way from home but the Gakku music festival is basically a Russian-centric or Slavic festival with mainly the younger generation of music lovers attending, so more in line with Dimash's age and interests at that time. Which may be why he seemed more relaxed, comfortable and closer to the audience in a less formal setting than what you have previously reacted to. Dimash seems to be able to quite easily gain the trust, acceptance, interest and focus of the audience in almost any setting. Not only because of his immense and almost unsurpassed talents in most aspects of his chosen crafts but also because he seems to have an innate ability to interact and charm any audience with his personality alone. Plus no one could truthfully deny he is also a very handsome man. Dimash is listed as over six foot tall yet is in such perfect proportion that many people who react to him refer to him as a cute boy.

I love watching the audience sing the song with him. the boys are in awe and the girls are in Love. Dimash composed this song after seeing a girl so beautiful, that it was Unforgettable . Hmm, with every pause you do, the sound gets further and further "off". That note was the famous D8, the highest note ever recorded live. That note makes Mariah Carey sound like a baritone.

Dimash wrote the song when he was a teenager after having seen a girl that he thought was particularly beautiful and caught his eye. Hence the unforgettable day. He does interact with the audience fairly often at concerts. There are concert videos of him where he has actually gone out into the audience while performing or or reach the mic to a particular person so they can sing into the mic with him.

If we check other versions that Dimash sings of this song (he wrote when he was younger), we can see a melisma or other very beautiful variations in this part of the "whistle". Here, playing on an open stage and with some discomfort in the return (we can see several times adjusting the earphone) we realize, in this specific part of the song, that he is going to do something and, not being able to perform what he pretended (perhaps interference from the audience the ragged feedback has hampered his concentration), so he sends this historic and wonderful C#8 modulated to D8 and vibrato! A more technical analysis we can see that the notes sound dissonant, as they do not belong to the harmonic field of the tonality of the music. Even so, it's a show of technique! He must have thought instantly: "Since I couldn't do what I wanted, I'm going to break bad out of the tent and send the inconceivable and supernatural D8 (4,698.64 Hz)!" Of course this is a joke of mine, but it makes us wonder: What's Dimash's limit?

I thought the same thing! Think about it: He went ultrasonic in that D8, stood up and kept singing, his final note being a strong D5. How?! So that makes me wonder: how high can Dimash truly go vocally?

This is the highest note ever in a live performance. And the note is of the piano. But Dimash can also sing in the lowest rigister and that is vocal fry.

Lyrics by O. Baysengir, Music by Dimash - composed at 19. "Ұмытылмас күн" - "Unforgettable Day" - Lyrics : "I loved you at first sight / Loved your gentle voice and tender words / You conquered my soul, I could not tear my eyes away from your luminous face / Oh, what an unforgettable day.. / Oh, what an unforgettable day ! / You are my long awaited dream / You are my golden sunrise / You are the one I cherish, the one I miss and care for / No one can control my heart / And the flames in my heart will never be extinguished / I will be the happiest in this world / If God grants you to me as my fate / Oh, what an unforgettable day.. / Oh, what an unforgettable day ! / (the intense part of the song ->) I don`t want to part from you, my soul / How can I gift you to another ? / You are my long awaited dream / You are my golden sunrise / You are the one I cherish, the one I miss and care for / ...Oh, what an unforgettable day.. / Oh, what an unforgettable day..." This was in Kazakhstan, several artists, Dimash performed 5 songs.150,000 people in the audience, spread in the streets and on the hills - you can see the crowd spreading in the distance. That note, D8, was spontaneous, his voice closed up for a split second at the end of the soprano section before, and that was how he bounced back and fixed the mishap 😁 He said "imma leave sopranos, and pianos, behind, and imma talk to dolphins. Or aliens !" 😄 Joking, but he did say in a later interview that the D8 wasn`t planned, it`s what he managed, after his voice cut off for a second. The first time he waved the mic was for effect, mic "vibrato", and to mark that he is singing live. The second time he shook the mic was out of frustration because his voice closed up. And then he went higher than the octaves of a grand piano 😁🎶 If you want to hear a song with no high notes, try "Samaltau" (Tokio Jazz Festival performance specifically - hands down most beautiful - from his channel, to have CC available) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6ewg56fjtpmgNU (turn CC on for english, the lyrics are of a kazakh folk song, and it`s a song that Dimash finds hard to perform, not vocally, but it`s heavy on his soul)

It is a D8, out of piano and with a little vibrato (...) Range of Dimash, till now: A2-D8. Most important than that note is the control in all performances, with flawless, dynamic voice, all voice colors, opera (from bass to soprano), pop, belt, whisper, fry, air with power, chest, head, heavy metal falsetto, mix, staccato, melisma, glissando, vertiginous transitions (passaggios), etc., showing accuracy of pitch ever. And all with feeling, drama, intensity, quallity and excellence in all of his perfect performances. The dolphing or whale whistle is inhuman, right, but Dimash is more than this and he is is very young, 28 years old. Present and future of the history of voice.
@jim55price
@jim55price Жыл бұрын
The note was a D8, one full tone higher than the rightmost key on a standard piano. As I understand it, Dimash wrote this song as a teenager imagining some time in his future when he would first see the woman destined to become his wife. You can see girls singing along with him in the audience. Interestingly from my perspective, this D8 isn't just a case of Dimash forcing out the highest note he could muster; rather, D8 fits the melody's chordal structure perfectly, his "normal" note there being a G7 in other performances. For whatever reason, though, this performance got that famous D8, possibly the highest harmonically suitable note ever sung on a musical stage. Thanks for this reaction. Cheers.

I can (slightly) understand how some people have been skeptical that Dimash is truly hitting all the notes he does, including this D8 in his whistle register. But too bad for them, because he hits them alright, even smart enough to use his mic to show it’s his real voice, a great trick on his part.

This is a song he when he was 19 years old, I believe . He uses the mic technique in many other performances. I guess it is to dissuade his detractors from accusing of lipsynching. Your comment about the stratosphere was premature. He reached suborbital in this one. Your stank face with the finger conducting the riff was classic. When he reached the D8 note your reaction was priceless. Are you officially now a Dear?

Thanks again for your awesome reaction. I would so love for you to go on "The Dimash Journey". It's watching, in order, his performances on the fantastic Chinese show, "The Singer" (or "I Am Singer"). You already did ep. 3 "The Show Must Go On" ...Apparently if you watch them from Gloria Wu's channel, they have no copyright problems. Also, make sure to turn the subtitles on, her vids have some subtitles but not all unless you turn them on. I think Gloria Wu's channel has around 6 or 7 of his performances on the show, not all of them (there's around 12-ish in total).

Just so you realize, Gloria Wu changes/manipulates the audio in order to avoid copyright blocking . She does a great job including English subtitles and behind the scenes info. But Dimash's actual key is lowered here and there. To hear the real original audio, you have to hear the original tv show clip. Hunan tv KZbin channel has Dimash performance clips with subtitles and behind the scenes info also. I always recommend viewing the original source (with filter) so they get Dimash performance views. It encourages the Chinese TV stations to keep posting his live performances in China to the KZbin channel. Like the Shine Super Brothers tv show has done,

@@bejewel4669 I've seen videos of Dimash's singer performances where the pitch of the entire video has been lower, are those Gloria Wu's videos though or are they another channel's?

@@Spinelli__ it's not only Gloria Wu that alters the audio. And some people uploading their copies cause reactors to say "he's lipsyncing" because the audio and video were not synced when the altered version was uploaded. Ticks me off.

@@bejewel4669 Hahah Dimash is easily really singing on all of The Singer performances. That's so easy to see. People are blind.

That is his highest note to date, the famous D8. Actually a C8-D8 vibrato. I've only heard two others go higher, both of them women. A Brazilian opera singer, and Mariah Carey squeaking out a short F8 while swimming with dolphins. 😉

What made the D8 even more impressive was that it was accidental. Dimash explained about how he was under the weather and had gotten 6 Injections in his neck, if I'm not mistaken his Doctor told him not to sing for a while, in this performance, he was still a bit sick and when he was trying to hit a G7, his words was "His voice had failed him" or at least that's what the translation said, and he instead hit a D8 unintentionally.
