One of the very few things that almost never get mentioned is the realization that Elvis Presley didn’t just sing that night but also arranged every song in this concert. Elvis very seldom gets recognized for his arrangement skills. It’s because of these skills that there is a rock ‘n’ roll genre today, that there is a popular music genre still today. That there is any music still today that we consider modern today.
@timcarr6401

Glen Hardin did most of the arrangements for the songs Elvis sang. You know of course that Elvis did not read music.

People can see in videos that he is controling his musicans, if they are intrested to see that, but many just listen and don't care, that is a shame because he was multiple talented in music, but is only seen as a entertainer, not a good, or great singer, or musican...

@@timcarr6401 non in The Beatles could also read music. We're not fighting the Bach vs Mozart battle here. Elvis was an arranger of class. Ask Glenn Hardin (fantastic musician of course) about that btw.

What a great reaction. The famous opera singer Luciano Pavarotti once said that if Elvis had had any real vocal training, he may well have become the greatest opera singer of the 20th century.

Elvis had problems with his eyes, but he also sweat alot, he had a warm suit on and moved around alot, he got criticized for that, it was not conciderd nice to see... That to me shows how little they understood, he gave it all on stage and people could see that from him sweating...

The flute player in this video is Gabe Baltazar. He played both Saxophone and Flute throughout his life.His tenure with Stan Kenton was some of the most prolific jazz recordings the world had ever seen and Gabe became known as one of the worlds great jazz soloists. After leaving Kenton he worked with several famous shows including the famous Johnny Carson.

I had the privilege of seeing Stan Kent Kenton when I was a teenager. I didn't want to go to his concert, but a friend's mother said, "You're going... both of you." I had no knowledge of Gabe Baltazar and appreciate learning what you've written. Elvis surrounded himself with talent, James Burton, Ronnie Tutt, Charlie Hodge, the Sweet Inspirations, which featured Whitney Houston's mother, JD Sumner and the Stamp... it's am endless list. The Hawaiian concert was incredible and it's great to add Gabe Baltazar's name to the list of musicians who made it so memorable.

That’s like saying athletes are better today. Of course they are. How big was the population at time of these two concerts? Which would have the highest percentage of viewers? And of course technology has gotten better over the years. No one thought Babe Ruth’s hr record would ever be broken. He is not even 3rd place now.

Love watching the emotions coming from you. Hard to believe that new generarations are loving him like we did. His time on Earth was memorial and he will forever be immortalized. I grew up with Elvis. I was 11 when he died. I thought it was odd that the entire country was stunned, shocked, and frozen- all at the same time. I didn't know what was going on. But I loved Elvis then and love him now 45 years after his death. Elvis was only with us for 42 years. As if Fate herself allowed us only a few decades with a muse of music, if only for a brief moment. Elvis was not the King of Rock of Roll. He was far beyond that. He was a God of music. We were blessed to have the most iconic entertainer in the history of mankind. He was the full package. Damn Mt. Olympus for taking him away so soon.

DREAM When I was a child, ladies and gentlemen, I was a dreamer. I read comic books, and I was the hero of the comic book. I saw movies, and I Was the hero in the movie. So every dream I ever dreamed has come true a hundred Times. These gentlemen over there, these are the type who care, are dedicated. You realize if its not possible that they might be building the kingdom, Its not far-fetched from reality. Id like to say that I learned Very early in life that: 'Without a song the day would never end Without a song a man aint got a friend Without a song the road would never bend Without a song... ' So I keep singing a song. Good night. Thank you.

If you like Gospel, then just listen to some of Elvis Gospel songs: Take my hand Precious Lord, Amazing grace, Why me lord (written by Kris Kristoffersen), How great though art, Amazing Graze, You gave me a mountain, Unchained melody, Where no one stands alone (on his own or with his daughter Lisa Marie), You'll never walk alone... If you prefer ballad songs then look at these: My Way, Suspicius minds, In the Ghetto, If I can dream that is a tribute (parts of it is taken directly from the I can dream speach by MLK) to Martin Luther King JR and Bobby Kennedy, Walk a mile in my shoes, Make The World Go Away, Bridge Over Troubled Water and American Thrillergy, Hurt, remember that he sang over 700 songs...... He is the only person to have 2 records gone to sell Gold and 2 to to sell Platinum since he died. Not to bad for someone that did not have any singing lessons ever, right? . Something else that people tend to overlook: He always conducts his musicans and backup singers, he never gets credit for being able to do that... Then imagen you are a singer, you have great musicans, you have great backup singers, no Guest Artists, no Autotune, no Lipsink and no Fireworks, now all is about your skill, could you handle that pressure? That is what Elvis did in over 1000 concerts, despite having problems with his health, like his Glaucoma, the headlights must have hurt his eyes like crazy..
