I’ll forever find it hilarious that so many people try to cancel Eminem for homophobic and offensive lyrics from a song where he literally starts by saying just because he says something in song doesn’t mean he believes it followed by lines about saying lyrics just to piss people off. It’s amazing so many can’t understand the concept of Slim Shady. If it were a character in a movie no one would bat an eye, but a character in music they can’t grasp the concept.

The best part about it all is that his sobriety sponsor when he was in rehab was Elton John. Him and Elton have had a longtime friendship, they are still friends to this day. The problem with misinterpretation of intention is that people literally say the same stuff outside of satire in a serious context. It can be hard to differentiate. I try not to get invested in other's nonsense. If they want to be a completely insensitive asshole they can. However, if they come towards me with all of that, I will intellectually shame them. The downside to such an approach is that when people feel lesser, in this case intellectually, they become defensive and emotionally volatile. Then, they may likely respond with force since their brain wasn't strong enough to convert another to their ideals. That's what it is as the root of it. They don't like different people. I'm not a violent person. I despise the idea that people can't communicate within a higher function. However, that's on them for their lack of being able to navigate through the proper channels of logic and reasoning. I've even written a bar years ago where I claim to have my gay friend's back like a cum line. I'm quite accepting of anything an individual wants to do with their life as long as it doesn't hurt others.

Just know Em doesn’t hate/dislike gay people at all (I’m sure you’re aware) hence his intro basically saying not to take his lyrics too serious. em is so far from being homophobic though, thats the point of the intro of the song, and the reason he sings about killing dre, which was his best friend pretty much at this point. the point was to show people that he just says stuff because it rhymes, same with the first verse. he got in a lot of trouble for it, had to be bailed out by Elton John. this song resurfacing is so funny for me because its funny to see the world going through the same shit all over again because of this song.
