You need to hear the full version, with the last verse. I saw him do this in an indoor arena. When he got to “The Thunder Rolls “, everyone in the audience drummed their feet on the floor. The low thunder - like sound produced, along with the deep vibrations, was absolutely spooky! …. gave you shivers.

Two of Garth's songs that are notorious for having the last verses dropped, because "The powers that be" deemed them to be to "controversial" to be played... This song, "Thunder Rolls" and "Friends in Low Places" can best be heard/viewed in his live performance.... And YES, you CAN hear what happens in the third verse of "Thunder Rolls"... And btw... This is not a cover song... It is just overly processed.... As if Garth if Garth needed it... It just avoids copyright issues... Shame, because songs like "Thunder Rolls" or "Standing Outside the Fire" or "The Dance" have very strong videos to accompany the songs. Also, You gotta check Conway Twitty out...Panty Dropper... Countless babies have been conceived to his music...

Neither one of the 3rd verses were written into the songs. They were both an afterthought. The first time he sang the 3rd verse to Friends In Low Places, in Austin, Tx., he explained that it wasn't until he heard the song on the radio, that he realized it needed to have a 3rd verse to make it "more like Garth".

@@darrinlindsey You are right about "Friends in Low Places", I do remember him talking about asking himself if he would actually handle that situation as he wrote it, so he wrote the third verse for it to make it fit himself... . But I'm not so sure about "Thunder Rolls", but do I admit I could be mistaken about that... I do know that many radio stations banned, and in some cases, still ban the third verse of that song... If memory serves, Garth talked about that in that same show too, when he got to that song... He said it had a hard time out of the box...
