Powerful first impression of HARDY with this intense story about sacrificing yourself for someone else - you don’t even know!
This was food for thought and also the warm, edgy and well controlled vocals was a pleasure listening to in an awesome story telling format!
Thanks a lot to my lovely Patreon, Lonnie, for recommending me this!❤️😊

The twelve the abuser was reaching for is a 12 guage shotgun. The "judge" under the seat is an American made revolver called the Judge.

I've said this on a few reactions so far: Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. The ones whom can carry the burden of the meek; to protect from those that intend to do them harm will sacrifice the most to protect the ones whom deserve it the most. Those whom protect the meek shall be only judged by the higher power an shan't be judged by those whom are earthly.

The 12 he's talking about is the shotgun the other guy was crawling to on the ground. Otherwise known as a 12-gauge shotgun. And the judge she is talking about is his gun. That's the gun's actual name. Also if you notice at the end of the video. That even though he's been there for a few years now, she's still waiting in his truck. She hasn't even changed the items on the dashboard.

Not to mention HARDY is outstanding in his own right, one of the best songwriters of this generation of country music, I’d heavily recommend listening to more of him as well, Give Heaven Some Hell, Truck Bed, A Rock, Signed Sober You, Beer, Screen & Happy are all great ones by HARDY.

Love this song. I was living in Vegas for awhile with one of my best friends. She came home from work in tears n hugged me so hard I thought she was gonna break my back and she finally thanked me and then showed me their video. I chuckled a little once I realized why she had been crying. We dated when we were kids and I used to step in a lot when her mother n sister would beat her. Her mom only pulled a gun on me once and it was the last time she ever did because I told her she'd better use it and hope I'm dead, because if I wasn't she'd be the only woman I'd ever lay my hands on. Got to see my best for her birthday this week and we had a blast hanging out together ^_^

Really great reaction. I also love how you put your thoughts in subtitles. Welcome to the world of Hardy. He is an amazing song writer and performer. He has been writing songs for others for a while and is finally getting out on his own. He is country but also bridges in rock in a lot of his song. He has an album that is half country and half rock. I would highly recommend doing the following songs: A Rock (country song) Give Heaven some hell (country) The Mockingbird and the Crow (this song is a country / rock mix) Sold out (rock) Radio song (this one is special. Its county, metal and rock) There are so many more but that would be a good well rounded start into the Hardy rabbit hole.

To add to the other comments... he was not a bad man, he was not an evil man... perhaps he grew up in a house of abuse.... as he knew what had happened to her without asking... he was a man who saw a need, saw an evil and acted on that need and evil. He was a man of faith (evidenced by the court scene bridge (Oh Lord have mercy on me was not asked to the court system... it was a plea to God) and visibly evidenced by the cross hanging on his rear view mirror... was his action legal, obviously not based on the trial, was it morally just.... that is up to each individual for you cannot legislate morality... but for every victim of DV, he would be an answered prayer... and for every man... the story forces the question... "what would I do?" I recently picked up on another aspect of the acting...you can see the transfer of 'weight' from the weight on her as a DV victim... to him, as the reality of what he did sank in looking at the body on the floor... she has her weight lifted as she no longer has to live that life... and the weight of the decision he made settles onto his shoulders, heart and mind.

This song gets me every time I hear it. I was witha life long friend when her husband snapped for no reason. We were out that night laughing giggling in the car and he put the car in park and proceeded to beat the living fuck out of her. He would not stop hitting her. They were in the front seat and I was in back I got out and tried to get her out and I couldn't I grabbed a 2x4 and started hitting him he finally stopped I got her out of the car and put her side so she didn't choke on her own blood. He tried stopping from protecting her. He hit me a couple of times when I knew she was breathing and I started screaming for someone to call the cops. He came at me and I grabbed that 2x4 again and he pulled a gun and told him look mother F***** you better hit me with the first shot because I will not allow you to hurt her again. I swung that 2x4 and hit him and he heard sirens and took off. The police found him and arrested him. 33 years later I still remember it like it just happened. I know one of us probably would have died if the cops didn't show up when they did.

I have seen people ask why he didn't trust the system and take her to the police station? I won't answer that, but consider this far too-often repeated scenario. A small boy and his sister in her early teens witness Dad beating Mom worse and worse as time goes on. One afternoon, Mom kisses them while Dad is at work and runs for her life. They never see her again. No wife to vent his anger on, he begins to beat the sister and sometimes the boy. They run away together, but police find them, and courts return them to the abusive dad. That gets repeated a couple of times until the boy learns the system is the enemy. One night, when he was 7 and his sister 14, Dad came home drunk and pissed as He'll. He has rated her before, but tonight seems bent on beating her to death. Kid tries to intervene until a crushing blow from a fist like iron breaks his jaw and knocks him backward onto his ass. Dad steps forward and drives a work boot into the kid's ribs, breaking three and pressing one into his lungs. He lies there unable to rise or protect himself. At that moment, his sister leaps onto Dad's back trying to stop him. This pushes Dad over the edge. As he lies there helpless, he watches his Dad beat his sister to death. Dad passes out drunk and the boy slowly cracks to the neighbor. Long story short, Dad goes to prison and boy goes into the doster care system. Distrusting adults or any authority figure, he struggles at school, fights his peers, and rives foster parent after foster to reject him. But he survives physically if not mentally without issues. Fifteen years later, foster care is behind him, and he's out at midnight in a driving storm. No one he expects to see out there would be out in that storm without a good reason. Then he sees a young woman out in the storm at midnight and looking terrified. She has been beaten, her shirt is torn open, and blood stains show in his headlights. At that point, the 22 yr old becomes a kid again. The woman becomes his sister. He had been helpless to save his sister, the system had pushed them into the situation they faced, but he could darn well save this stranger. Could and dambed well would!

You are a beautiful story teller. Write a book and I'll sure buy it! What you wrote is real. Happens all the time. I'm retired adult and child protective social worker. I was the one who had to put kids in foster care to try to save them if no family would step up. We always tried to find family first. I'm also child of alcoholic. He was never physical bit the emotional aspect was very tough as well as how his bad financial decisions effected us, so I know how those kids I tried to protect felt in many ways. Broke my heart but did best I could. I was married to abuser. Physically, mentally and emotionally for 17 years. I truly thought that if I loved him hard enough, he would change his heart but didn't happen. I never told Daddy what was happening, ( he got sober when I was 16). If I bad told him, I would have been waiting in his truck literally. My ex got a side chick and SHE saved me because he chose her over our son and me. I'm thankful for her every single day.

A friend I have, when we were in our teens, was forced to shoot his Dad to stop him from beating his mom to death. The man was like the fellow in the video, get drunk and beat the wife type. This type of man won't ever stop doing these things until you force them to. By either putting them in prison or the grave. My freind still carries regret over what he had to do, but he realizes that he made the right choice.

A few things here. Im a southern man in the U.S. i dont know many good, real men who would not do this for a woman. Secondly, "wait in the truck" in the south is code for wait here i have to go handle business and i dont want you to have to see it.

Could you react to King Diamond? He is one of your countrymen. Any song will do.

Here is South Carolina USA he would have been free during the assault , I grew up watching women get beat. That said I’d put money on his books till I was a cell mate.

If you hear someone say "wait in the truck" down South and you're not at a store/restaraunt, that means some real feces to fan is about to happen
