She wrote this song as she had a hard time with commercial radio stations here in Australia playing her songs. Ironically it became a huge hit in Australia. Taken from Google: 'Not Pretty Enough' was the third single from Kasey Chambers' second album Barricades & Brickwalls. According to Macquarie University academic Brifget Griffen-Foley, Chambers wrote the song as a commentary on the reluctance of commercial radio stations to play her music, despite her being an established performer.

Kasey couldnt get her music played on Australian commercial radio even though she was already an esablished artist ironicaly it was this song that became her first hit. Its probably why Lose Yourself resonates with her and she sings it with so much emotion. People will usually recommend Aint No Little Girl performed at the Tenessee Underground but I actually prefer her official music video both are good.

Yes I heard this about her being blocked from radio and that this song broke through that and reached the people in a big way that’s so awesome and that’s how you do it! Just keep trucking forward! 🙌🏻💕 that makes sense about her displayed passion in the Lose Yourself song too! She rocked that! I will be doing Ain’t No Little Girl real soon and it will be the video because that’s the one I got most requested for! However once a month I do livestreams so I can try to do her live versions on one of those in the future too and get both experiences! 😅💕

Kasey didn't fit the mould in appearance for country artists at the time, although she was one, and her music was more contemporary cross over, but radio stations didn't play her because she was 'country' not pop, so this was her response, and the album was a massive hit, so they had no choice after that. She is a force of nature. ✌❤

My dad has been super busy oddly enough recently lol 😆 I tried to mention it last week spoke on the phone but he was kind of running around so hopefully he will be watching soon he has to catch up on a lot of my drops!
