I do tech for a theater and we had Randy back in October. The comedian behind it is Heath McIvor and he's the nicest dude ever. Not only did he put on a killer show but he spent time after the show hanging out in the lobby and taking pictures of "Randy" with fans for free. By far the coolest person I've met working in comedy. He really loves his craft and loves his fans. You don't see him behind the little booth but his control and reaction time is insane. When he's doing a show he's 100% in the moment.

According to one of his more recent specials, Randy was really struggling to break through at the time of this recording. He had done a string of shows in NYC during this tour and couldn't fill seats to save his life. Until someone pirated this special, put it on KZbin, and it became a viral sensation worldwide.

Sammy J and Randy were also on a show called Good News World here in Australia. They did little 3-5 minute sketches that are hilarious. Some were where they lived together in a house and drove each other nuts, and some sketches were of them pretending to be Australian politicians sitting up in the back of the room and talking about non-important things. They’re really funny

Randy's specials are hilarious. The Bookshelf story is glorious and the punchline of "F@#k you Hemingway" is a call back to earlier where he summarizes the crazy life of author Ernest Hemingway. A good amount of the stories end up going across the whole special to get to a second punchline that reframes the entire act! Telling the stories through the medium of Randy is a joy to watch as Heath knows how to get wild expression out of pretty basic puppet that makes Randy that much more engaging.

1:37 It's called Dunbar's number. I just recently learned about it in the manga/anime Dr Stone. 3:38 There's an argument to be made that the reason some people who are active and vigilant of their personal social media, are doing it because it's the most convenient way to keep tabs on important people in your life, without having to call them on the daily to know what's going on. To me, it's actually kind of humorous how the two groups view one another. To an introvert, people who are very active in their personal social media, can come off as nosey, and attention seekers. Whereas people who are socially active, see introverts that who don't use social media, as people who just don't care how anyone but themselves are doing. There are good and bad people in either group.

Randy said he made it up but did he really? Another thing. The shining scene he mentions has interesting back story. The director Stanley Kubrick wanted the actresses trauma and terror to look genuine so he ordered the crew to torment and verbally abuse her for the day or more and also made them do a rediculous amount of retakes of the scene so the crying mental break mess the actress shows in that scene is pretty real.

We feel different things from reading a novel and being told a story isn't true after we hear it because we know the novel is fictional beforehand, whereas we only hear the story is fake afterwards. We go through hearing the story the first time under the assumption it's true unless told otherwise or we hear something that couldn't possibly be real.
