ah 2 Unlimited, lovely memories of the early 90s. We were all in love with Anita Doth back in the day. Ray Slijngaard was indeed 20yo at the time as was Anita. No Limits was their biggest hit.

At last! That was the beginning of 90's disco havoc! And I was SO in love with Anita... They had SO many hits! My choices : "Tribal dance", "Maximum overdrive", "No one", "Let the beat control your body", "Faces", "Magic friend", "Real thing", "Jump for Joy", "Twilight zone". Absolute Eurodance Megastars! I hope for more reactions.

I think regarding Dido, that even though the Enlminem song came out first the Dido song was already written and was included in his song almost as a sample. As far as I'm aware she didn't expand on the snippet to write a full song. I may be wrong, but I'm sure that's what I heard, I might be wrong.

Like KLF, this group took the New Beat rhythms and added Rap and Funky. I personally prefer New Beat, though. New Beat was a current created in Belgium in 1986 and lasted 'til 96. It was subdivided between several genres : New Beat, Acid Music, House Music, Techno and Hardcore. 2 Unlimited is more related to the Techno branch.

06:40 You're right Dereck, it's nothing more than a good sounding melody (only 5 notes!) with a dance beat. The lyrics that were added were always very very simple, often something about sound and dancing on a dancefloor and lines that made no sense at all, if it rhymed it was good enough. Then to know that Rays English pronunciation was bad, he couldn't dance (note the way he's filmed), couldn't sing, and Anita was in my opinion also a very limited singer (couldn't sing high and often out of tune). However, none of that mattered, it just sounded so great!
@coachtomas2 жыл бұрын
Pure 90s dance cheese. Great at the time, stale now. At the time we had a lot of European acts with a very formulaic cut and paste dance music. Did they fill the dancefloor ? Absolutely. But when I think of 90s dance I think of KLF, who had the musical understanding, great guest vocalists and originality behind them.

@@ruuddhont2098 2 Unlimited is registered with Sabam. Sabam is the Belgian association for authors, composers and publishers . Thé fact that the "singers" Anita Doth and Ray Slijngaard are Dutch makes the project not Belgian/Dutch as you say. It's all about who the project is registered...in this case it's Sabam. That makes 2 Unlimited a Belgian dance project.... Same can be said about Snap!. The singers were Americans the project itself was German.
