I read somewhere that the song is about falling in love with a drug addict. He loved her for who she was but as he stared into her eyes he realized it was just a dream. She was nothing more than a junkie using him to get high. She was just eyes because her face was so numb from all the drugs she used. Hence why he despised her and calls her a human waste.

"Les Yeux sans visage" is "Eyes Without a Face" in French. The backup singers are singing the title in French as well. The title was inspired by a 1960's French Horror film with the same title. The film is basically about a Doctor who turned serial k****r after his daughter's face was disfigured in an accident. In an effort to restore the daughter's face the Dr. and his accomplice would kidnap women, render them unconscious, and attempt to do a face transplant.
