He is so awesome, isn’t he? Dimash is Muslim. Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I love these mythical sounds. You will immediately be transported into an oriental adventure film. The instrument used here is the Qobyz and it was a great idea by Dimash to use that here. The Qobyz is a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the Qobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. In the end of Stranger he introduced him to the audience and he thanked them. He performed this song on the same show as Ave Maria, just not on the same day. As a Kazakh he speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 ​​octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. As already mentioned before, Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. Please react to Olimpico or also Ogni Pietra from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills (like so many others). It was written for the 2nd European Games 2019 in Minsk, Belarus and also won an award for Best Song of the Year in Russia in this year. The text is therefore very motivating. This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. Without subtitles, if you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and motivating his army to fight a losing battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤. Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. It's been said that he and his familys are Muslim. The best way to describe Dimash is to say he is a Holy Spirit filled non-political Moslem. Kazakhstan is multicultural, 60% Moslem( Ghengis Khan), 30% Christian, and 10% other. He used to go outside and discuss his musical future with the God of the sky when he was growing up. He acts better than most Christians.

Thanks for the reaction - this is probably my favourite song by Dimash, although it is very hard to pick just one. Plus, most of his song versions are slightly different each time he sings them. Dimash was presented with the DIAFA Contribution to Art award at the annual DIAFA (Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards) awards in Dubai on November 28/24. He sang Stranger - best rendition ever, I think! At the beginning in Stranger it sounds an old Turkic stringed instrument called Kobys. It is probably the oldest bowed stringed instrument in the world and it spread to became the prototype of all European string instruments as violin an chello. That and the use of the fa minor key in the composition gives the vibe of Middle East /oriental/ exotic sound. Think he´s singing to migrants in general: "New ground far as I can see, new ground underneath my feet, Stranger in a stranger land, new chance to see who I am if I have the strength to begin again" Reminds me also to the Old Testament; Exodus 2:22 Moses, “And she bore him a son, and he called his name Gershom [that is, A stranger there]; for he said, “I have been a stranger in a strange land.”
