The 70's were an amazing time to grow up when it comes to music. Musicians actually playing their own instruments, writing their own songs, no "Auto-Tune" anywhere, and the lyrics were pure POETRY!!

Player is a British-American rock band that made their mark during the late 70's. "Baby Come Back" was their biggest hit in 1977. They also had some other songs such as "This Time I'm In It For Love".

LOVE THIS SONG!!!!! THANKS FOR THE REACTION!!!!..... Their follow up single, "This Time I'm in It for Love", also peaked at No. 10 the same year........PLAYER toured Australia for the month of November 2014 and joined Rock The Yacht 2015 to tour with Little River Band, Ambrosia, Robbie Dupree, and Stephen Bishop. Now called Peter Beckett's PLAYER, they are still actively touring. Between tours, Peter Beckett is working on a new CD.

One of many Yacht Rock artists including Ambrosia, Pablo Cruise, Christopher Cross, Al Stewart , Michael McDonald and Robbie Dupree. Enjoy your channel as you give deep research into the artists and educate yourself and your listeners. I never knew the story behind Gimme Shelter from the Stones. Thanks. 👍

One of the biggest and most memorable songs from the 70’s, and probably one of the most played songs on radio stations today, this song was and is literally on the radio all day everyday, for decades even after the 70’s. This song was a staple on R&B/Soul radio stations also, for good reason! In my opinion, it was not performed or written by Hall & Oats but I can hear them singing it, it’s so Blue Eyed Soul! I bet if Hall and Oats ever performed the song in concerts nobody would complain! 😁😁😁😁

This was a “love you all over” dance song back in my junior high days, lol. A talented group of gents that didn’t get the careers they should’ve had. Except for Ron Moss, the bassist was (is?) on The Bol and the Beautiful for decades.

FYI: Universal Music Group and Vivendi are being sued for allegedly underpaying royalties on Player’s 1977 hit “Baby Come Back.” Overrated Productions this year acquired rights to the work from producer Dennis Lambert and his Haven Records. It claims to have discovered UMG, which inherited licensing rights from RSO Records through a series of acquisitions, is willfully underpaying royalties and had been concealing it by providing statements that were “intentionally confusing at best and misleading at worst.” The song is still actively licensed, according to the complaint, and has recently appeared in everything from The Simpsons to Toyota commercials.

When people call artists "one hit wonders" I always think, and you with your no hits are saying that? Anyway, there was a saying that people would say, "laughed all the way to the bank", and later on Liberace said that someone's article criticizing him, that "his words hurt very much and I cried all the way to the bank". Yeah, they are just really crying about their one hit (for the record they are not a one hit wonder) all the way to the bank, because the play this song still gets. And the bassist is still famous besides being the bassist for this band, Ron Moss has been on The Bold and Beautiful as Ridge Forrester since 1987.
