Wow I really like your insightfulness, sensing what’s important and knowing great art is more than entertainment and pretty pictures, it’s about the human soul, and necessary to our inner selves. Lang is incredible, powerful, and unique. You’re right: she is so humbled and moved by this audience LEAPING to give her the ovation she deserves, thanking her for a lifetime of sharing her incredible talents… it appears she’s trying not to cry openly. That they’re people/peers in the music industry makes it even greater. As awesome as this rendition is, find the Canadian broadcast video of her singing Hallelujah at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010: it’s even more breathtaking and beautiful -you won’t believe it. 😎

ps. have a look at her official video for "pulling back the reigns". this is one of kd's early videos from back in the late 1980's. this video knocks me out because we didn't know kd really yet. there she was/is in this video. in all her androgynous/male/female/sexy elvis-y-ness. singing like the world is about to end-so we better listen. no gimmicks. no craziness. just her passion. and that voice. brilliant. check it out. (I've watched more of your vocal reactions. I love your take on things. you are an excellent reactor. thanks.)

Thank you (for a big change in reviewers) for NOT INTERRUPTING the performance to give your opinion. kd lang spells her name in lower case. She is incredible vocalist and I subscribed to you only because you did. Not interrupt what you are reviewing. She is gay. I am too, but her gift is for everyone. Spell her like she chose so many years ago and keep NOT inserting your opinion until the performance is over. You go girl!

@@CarolKingButlermost of the time reactors have to pause and/or talk over the video because if they don’t there is a higher chance it will be taken down for copyright. If that keeps happening they can shut down the whole channel. It’s not meant to be disrespectful to the artist

K d is an absolutely amazing live singer. Living in Alberta, I have seen her from the early days of her career. The standout for me was a performance on a warm star lit night outdoors in July where Hallelujah and her version of Heaven by Talking Heads were on another level. The two performances you have reacted to are definitely two of her best. Wouldn’t suggest you react to this but I recommend anyone have a look and listen to the version of Crying she does on an Australian talk show. Comes out cold, no rehearsal with the band and just nails it.

KD Lang started out in country music in Canada. She can yodel like nobody's business. I remember her in in probably the 80s are 90s and I was just so amazed at her voice. Another person I think you'd like the way they Feel a song and express it to you is then Morrison into the mystic. His style of music is kind of a jazz blues combination

Leonard Cohen (the famous composer) was in the audience. He wrote some different verses for the song as well, which some singers (like Jeff Buckley) omit. This final verse makes it much more than a "love hurts" song, to me: "I did my best - it wasn't much. I couldn't feel so I tried to touch. I told the truth; I didn't come to school ya. And even though it all went wrong, I'll stand before the Lord of Song with nothing on my tongue but hallelujah." The pain was worth it because what is a life without love? As some famous poet wrote, "Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."

She had been out of the limelight of the Canadian Music scene for a long time at this point and Neil Young was supposed to perform. At the 11th hour, Neil pulled out over a dispute or a conflict or something, and they got KD on almost zero notice and she did THAT.....She was emotional not only from the song (written by Leonard Cohen -a Canadian), but it was a heartfelt welcome back for that voice.
