I was in high school when they were on theywere on the Ed Sullivan show show. They were so awesome when they came out in 1964. Love these guys! I have all of their vinyl record albums in my collection. ❤❤❤❤

This song is from the wonderful Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, Carousel. Great performance by the Brothers. I loved your reaction! Keep delving into their work, and into Bill Medley’s solo work, too. (Bill is the tall baritone.) The Ed Sullivan Show was amazing. I remember seeing Elvis and the Beatles, but the best thing I ever saw on the show was Billie Holiday singing Strange Fruit. I think it changed my young life. BTW, I’m going to see Bill Medley perform in a couple of weeks! This is the last year that he’ll be touring, so being the Medleymaniac that I am, I wanted to se him one more time!

I was 10 years old that year. We never missed The Ed Sullivan Show. He had a variety of talented people every week from comedy acts, drama, vocals and yes, the best groups of the day. You really should check it out. Amazing times to grow in. Enjoy

I think of all their songs the harmonizing on this song is the best. It just sounds different somehow as though they are both singing in different keys than usual . This could just be my immagination but it is just beautiful.❤❤

You should watch them sing with Andy Williams on his show a song called tell em what I say. It shows Bobby's dance moves and how fun they are.

Bill has described there harmonies .as Magical! They were like a quartet and the two middle guys quit. They were very much underappreciated by the powers that be. They were only rated number 16 by a top music magazine!! Ridiculous.

My family and I always watched Ed Sullivan Show and Lawrence Welk Show whenever it came on. I don't really remember this particular show but I'm sure I saw it at the time.

I guess you have "Just Once In My Life" and "Soul and Inspiration" (Pick video from Bob Hope Show so you get the bonus snippet of "Turn on Your Love Light" which is phenomenal jazz) that were big hits. Anything from Shindig shows you the R&B they were noted for where they just let it rip (I Need Your Loving Everyday"). It will show their true wild and funny sides with Shindig's own band, backup singers & dancers. Bobby Hatfield's "Summertime" video & Bill Medley's audio of "I Just Want to Make Love to You" will blow your mind. Happy hunting from there. They were true entertainers.

before even watching this i have a cover worthy of listening to. not sure if there’s a production video, but josh groban singing this is amazing. also, just finished watching your PTX reactions and loved every second. i’m new to your channel and hope you do more PTX. there are a handful that no one reacts to and i’d love to get your take. if i can afford your patreon i’ll join. if not i’ll be back here to edit this comment with my suggestions. 😘

Nick, a show geared to teen music which aired during prime time was Shindig. The link below is a compilation of several appearances of the Righteous Brothers. They were regulars on Shindig. This shows some of their less popular hits and how diverse they were in their music. They were having fun singing with the Blossoms. The 3rd song was written by Bill and was their first record. This clip shows their raw energy, along with the Shindig dancers and screaming teens! Enjoy!❤kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2OoZ4ifn7R7m80si=o8MOArpNIFDsHBUC

I love the Righteous Brothers and I love their performances on the great Shindig television show where they were regulars. They performed their music from their Moonglow Years of the early 1960s, before Phil Spector got ahold of them and made the ballad hits. I don't characterize it as teen music but as rock 'n' roll, rhythm 'n' blues, and ballads. It was good music and wonderful performances. 🎶✨

The screaming teens drove me crazy back then and even more now that I’m nearly 80, 😜. It just takes away from the performance 🤓

I'm able to enjoy the performances without hearing the teens. Maybe some of the young people would be able to too. 🎶

Well, this is the first time I’ve heard them sing this song. I’m familiar with Shirley Jones version from the musical Carousel but I don’t think I’ve ever heard anybody else sing it. I think there’s too many vocal gymnastics in this version for me to really like it. The melody seems to get buried somewhere in the middle there. If you’re interested in really hearing the song sung straight, I would recommend Shirley Jones.
