This is my first time ever shooting a MAS-36 rifle and I'm using 1959 dated Toulouse, France manufactured ammunition. This is, I believe, 139gr FMJ projectiles with a range of 2,680-2,700fps. This particular rifles is a post-war example of a MAS-36.

I love my MAS 36. I also have the 49. Both underrated.

I would love to shoot a Mas 49 at some point. Although, I’m not a big post war collector so I probably won’t end up adding one to the collection.

Took the grenade launching butt sleeve off my 49/56 just to test it. Put it back on. Better length of pull, and some recoil mitigation. Also added a Murray's firing pin return spring kit. Not partial to slam fires.

I have an L prefix Mas36. It is fun as heck to shoot. I was able to grab up several hundred rounds of PPU a few years back and aboit 200 pieces of brass. Ive been meaning to order more from sgammo

Sweet rifle. These look really awesome, but I've never even held one. I've always wanted a 36 or a 49 but the cost of the rifle plus I really don't need yet ANOTHER cartridge to buy all the stuff to reload for....I've never counted but I load for a ridiculous amount of different cartridges. I was wondering why this has rear locking lugs and the info I found said "easier to clean, allows for a longer barrel, and shorter bolt throw" I still haven't gotten around to trying to form .303 British brass and load for my 6.5 Dutch rifle yet and I bought it probably 8 months ago. You can't buy ammo or brass for it so it's a process. I will try to make a vid when I do, there's only one vid out there on the topic and none where anyone uses the forming dies from CH4D.

I wish I had more time to reload! I really only reload .30-.30 right now but I’m starting to get everything together for .303 and 7.7 jap since they’re so similar (minus one being rimmed and the other rimless but basically the same bullet diameter). I would love to get everything up and running for my Martini-Henry. But try a French rifle sometime if you have a friend that has one! They’re intriguing to say the least.

Nice little rifle. Accurate, handy, and cycles well. Rear locking lugs, and no safety. Mine's either late or post war production, 1945/6. It was refurbed in the late '60's, so is in great shape.

I'm limited to about 130 yards here, so I can't say just how far out I could get good hits.

One small regret I always have is not owning a French rifle. Not so common up here in Soviet Canuckistan, but I should still have one.

There must be some kind of market for them up there or did they never import them?

I believe the odd shape of the bolt handle is so you can hold on the the bolt while working the trigger? I think Ian of Forgotten Weapons mentioned something along these lines. Thus, increasing rate of fire. Any thoughts? Thanks!
