You sir, are my hero. Set the scene…I just broke my back playing rugby. So pissed off at life. Then I got my first model. Board with brushes, I went with the air can cheapo stuff. To now, I’m 54 and just started modelling again. Bought the exact thing you got and was impressed. Still didn’t know anything about it. It’s been in bits for 3 days as I couldn’t put it back together 😣🤷♂️🤦🏻♂️. Bad move, dropped the trigger and couldn’t get it into the hole properly and until a few minutes ago I got it done. Your presentation was fantastic. Helped me out no end. Tomorrow I’m starting an old 1/12 harrier jump jet, I found in the garage along with all my paint stuff. Am so in your debt for this vid. Cheers pal and I’ve just subscribed so here’s to more vids. 😂👌🇬🇧

Thanks John, I’ve seen lots of videos that left me more confused than I was before I started watching them and there is no need for them to be that complicated. I’m pretty sure if I had more technical knowledge about airbrushes the difference between the good ones and the bad ones I probably would’ve ended up making a video that was over complicated as well.

I bought a cheapy airbrush months ago and I’ve always been put off by people telling me the cleaning is a nightmare. Your video has made me dust it off and just get on with it cos the results look brilliant. Thanks..and yes, more vids please as it’s great to learn along with you 👍

Excellent video. Bought me a set of basically the same airbrush + compressor (in fact, the compressor looks just like yours, except it's got 'Nasedal' written on it) about a month ago. Gave it a try today. I am well impressed! The Pro compressors output 30psi so was worried 25 might not be enough but it's just enough for my needs. Very happy with the purchase so far.

I just recently got one if these kits and I love it. I'm having a lot of fun with it. The one I got had very vague instructions and the only thing that still baffles me is how to regulate the air pressure. I have my dial all the way to the right, but the vids I've seen have most ppl with the knob to the left and the compressor is running all the time. I guess I just need to test the pressure settings out a little more bc I believe I'm spraying a little too much pressure. Anyway, great video and good thing you mentioned the additional costs for the ppl wanting to get into airbrushing. Thanks.
@foyble Жыл бұрын
You are very welcome. These machines are pretty much a single consistent pressure. That dial makes almost no difference.
@TheGoldenDragon_ Жыл бұрын
@@foyble I had a feeling it was something like that bc I couldn't really tell any difference. I just go with what's currently working out for me. As long as I'm getting smooth coverage, I'm good. Anyway, thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate it.

great video :) I advise you that when you can buy a good compressor, which is the fundamental thing, the most normal ones with boiler are usually between € 100 and 175 € . A constant air flow and the power to regulate the pressure is essential :)

The Two Thin coats commandment applies to air brushes too! I made the same mistake of just blasting paint on and wondered why I was going through so much paint! I've got a version of this cheapy too (same compressor and different airbrush) to use for scale modelling but considering giving it a crack on my minis too. Will also be amazed at how quickly gunk builds up on the nozzle etc. One tip I've followed is just buying 99% isopropyl alcohol to use instead of cleaner mix up a 50/50 with distilled water, or tap water, and a few drops and blast it through the airbrush between colours. Strips the dried paint away.

Great video! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. I do have one question, how hot does the compressor get? I already have 1/3rd hp compressor and airbrushes not unlike yours. But, I am looking to see if a smaller compressor may work better for my mini’s. Be Safe!

It gets very warm but doesn’t seem dangerous. I wouldn’t use it for hours continuously.

Thanks so much. Great vid. Doing it now. However I took the trigger out too and lost the trigger spring to somewhere in the kitchen. 😭
@ianslee89683 жыл бұрын
I take back some of the stuff I said in my other post, it is a nightmare, until, you see the spring in the gun the wrong way .🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️. Now it works great. Just one thing, demand plasters in the tool kit, 2 gun related injury 😂😂😂. Last bit, go really easy on the flow improver. A little goes a very long way. Cheers pal and hope you win whatever your playing.👍😎😂
@Ghryst3 жыл бұрын
you are using acrylics, your thinner, and therefore also your Airbrush Cleaner, is WATER. and you dont need a flow improver (gimmick, just thin your paints properly) 7:04 the splatter was caused by you releasing the paint and the airflow at the same time (keep the air going until the paint stops flowing, or it pools up around the needle)

This and another similar video have made me interested in getting started with airbrushing, but a few things have put me off. First the amount of additional stuff you require such as what you already, mentioned plus a spray booth and mask etc. Also the amount of care and cleaning required, plus the additional steps between different colour paints, sounds like it could take a lot of your hobby time up? Overall do you think it is worth the investment?
@foyble4 жыл бұрын
Personally I won’t go back I don’t think. I’ve seen plenty of reviews and opinions about getting into airbrushing and almost none of them mention the costs of thinners and cleaning liquids although they do often talk about looking after the airbrush. If I’m batch painting more than 3 models I think it would take less time to set up, use and clean the airbrush than it would to spray prime and base coat the models. I also feel like the airbrush gives me much more control of the priming stage too and ensures that I don’t miss any parts of the model with the primer. I also have to remember that I’ve literally only used it once so I might feel different in the future, currently though it’s made me excited about painting again which hasn’t been the case in a long time.

@@foyble Glad to hear it. Would love to see how you continue to get on with it. Would you try blending as that’s something that strikes me as a huge advantage of having an air brush.
@BigAndTall6664 жыл бұрын
The moisture trap should be mounted vertically below the airbrush not be attached horizontally to the compressor as it defeats its purpose.
@foyble4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Does that mean it’s a design fault since this is the only place it will go on the compressor?

Never seen that compressor before, dunno how good it is. if it's 25psi max then not so great! I'd also recommend picking up some Daler Rowney FW. white ink. It's great for doing zenithal highlights! Can simply use it and skip the grey step, just put it on thin and then stronger for the top highlights.
@foyble4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips Steve. I’ll add the ink to my list of things to get. The compressor came with the cheap airbrush and seems ok but I have nothing to compare it with as it’s the only compressor I’ve ever used. One thing I do know is that I’m hooked on airbrushing and will definitely be looking to upgrade my kit this year.

I’m just getting one now Iv done many models and car mods done spray paint or brush paint so getting this kit to try with bigger nozzles will try thinner with the paint and nail polish cleaner. How did you get on with yours ?? Iv done hydro dipping/wrapping and now make carbon fibre parts Think this will help

If you're using waterbased paints, toxicity shouldn't be a problem, so you won't need to go to the level of a mask made for autobody painting and real toxic painting environs (anything with actual chemical fumes you MUST). A dust mask should do you fine (the paint molecules are larger than the fume molecules of more toxic paints, even atomized thru your AB) . You're mostly avoiding two days of multi colored boogers coming out of your head. A spray booth setup with good airdraw and filtering/outdoor exhausting is good enuf too, as you are generally spraying away from yourself and into the vacuum draw of the booth. Again, this ONLY applies to chemically inert and nontoxic waterbased paints, like acrylics.
@Nortic1114 жыл бұрын
@@BjornKuma Sound advice! Much appreciated.
@BjornKuma4 жыл бұрын
@@Nortic111 Anytime! I've got some trigger time on an AB using both toxic and non toxic paints. It always pays to be safe, but there is usually some proper proportion with the types of materials you are using.
@BjornKuma4 жыл бұрын
@@redscope897 gonna have to disagree. Droplet particles are orders of magnitude larger than the particles that are given off in fumes. The solids are held in those droplets and are also orders of magnitude larger. A dust mask will stop those dried droplets. I've got over 20 years of painting experience, everything from super yachts to canvas, and water-based paints are much safer because they don't crosslink chemically with a catalyst. You can certainly choose to where a half face respirator if you want, but dust filters for one are more than adequate. Chemical filters are overkill and the charcoal filters only last about 20 days once exposed to air. So thats 25-30 bucks every month or more depending on how much you paint. If your boogers aren't changing color, you're not intaking the solids as there are no actual fumes to worry about.
