This! This is what I have been looking for! I see so many videos of people walking with zero difficulty and I just want the reality of it. I just got the clear yesterday to start WBAT without my walking boot and I'm doing it, but it's helpful to see someone else overcome these difficulties. Thank you for this. Note: March 14, 2024 I suffered a Trimalleolar Fracture with Dislocation, ORIF on March 26, 2024 (1 plate, 9 screws), walking in boot fully unassisted by 8 weeks post op with no pain....but this directly on foot this is tough. Much like you I just tell myself to stop being a little b!tch and get it done. 😂 No, really I constantly remind myself to not listen to my mind, to trust my ankle, that I can do this. Thanks for this video

Casey!! I wish you the best! Sounds like you and me were going through a bunch of similar issues. Make sure when you start walking that you are stretching your big toe back as much as possible. Also look at your calf does it seem to be firing? And what I mean by that is does it seem to be working when you go into a calf lift?

I'm the same with wanting to see something like this. I had anklet surgery a month ago and getting ready to walk again. This helps me so much to see what it will really be like. Thank you so much for posting.

Going through learning to walk again. People just don't understand why you just can't get up and walk like you used to,all my muscles are weak. It's scarey.

I had a navicular break and ankle break. I'm in my 3rd week of learning to walk again. So far so good.

I started walking 11 weeks after broken ankle and op. It was really scary. Remember to use the crutch on the opposite side. Wg my left ankle was injured, use the crutch in the right hand side. At 12 weeks I was walking without crutches. It is scary, trust yourself.

I had a weber c fracture ankle dislocation when someone mf tackled me from behind in soccer. Its been 12 weeks and I’ve been non load bearing yet. I’ve been told to start putting load slowly slowly and i have begun it. Its too difficult and ankle just don’t have any range of motion. I feel awful.
@TheHealthyYinzer9 ай бұрын
Damn we are basically dealing with the same thing. I was hit from behind (slide tackle playing hockey) of course I was going full speed and he smashed into the lake that was on the ground. How’s your progression going so far?

@@TheHealthyYinzer I walking with kane right now. When i wear shoes i walk without kane. Physiotherapy is going on. I guess ill be walking without kane in next couple of days. And i guess my limping will be 95 percent down by next week. Im hoping to recover as fast as possible but it depends on my ankle to. It pains a lot when there is lots of strain on it. So i don’t go too rigorously in it. What would you suggest?

I had surgery this day 4 weeks ago. 7 bones fractured. My mental health is not good as I am non weight bearing also, stuck in bed as my wrists started getting sore using crutches and living alone up a stairs I cant get down. That looks so painful, not looking forward to that. Hope you are doing a lot better now

Currently 3 weeks post-injury with metatarsal fractures x3.. 2-4 (first fractures of my life at the age of 34 🙃) on my left… the same ankle I sprained last summer at a trampoline park.. have slow-motion footage of that.. but just… misstepped and tried to NOT sprain my ankle again… I am curious… Why would you (or who told you it was appropriate) to go from NWB to walking barefoot..?! A walking boot should have been your next step… although, tbh I have NO idea how you’d manage NWB for 8 weeks while using crutches… I have a hands-free crutch (iWalk3.0) and I’d literally be nonfunctional without it. I am NEB for a minimum of 6 weeks with the recovery timeline expectation being estimated at 12.. I also had significant symptoms of early RSD/CRPS at one week post-injury, but still. I can’t imagine going from NWB to trying to walk on a bare foot… and idk how that would ever even be a recommendation from any orthopedic surgeon.. especially since with a severe ankle injury, you’d be in a high boot, not a low boot, assuming you weren’t placed in a hard cast…
@TheHealthyYinzer3 ай бұрын
Great observation so this was from my surgeon! I was in a hard cast for 10 weeks and then I was in a walking boot for two weeks and then he said it’s time to takeoff the trading wheels and start forcing yourself to walk and sure enough I made this video.

Sounds like you have a lot of knowledge with this…are you a doctor or surgeon?

Going into boot in 3 sleeps. Did fib, bottom of the tib and malleolar. 2 plactes 12 screws. Stoked to be getting out of the cast. Scared its not healing correctly and worried about the weight bearing aspect. Gotta do it tho eh?

@@TheHealthyYinzer it's crazy mentally. Walking is a scary thought. Not sure people quite understand. Bones apparently healing perfectly. Surgeon wants boot off in 10 days. Not sure I'm going to push that

Wow you're able to walk again fast! 🎉 great work! I'm 7 weeks post op from tibfib fracture and ankle dislocation but I still cannot walk without crutches. Range of motion is still very limited either

I found this footage in my old iPhone and tried to splice it together. I was also high on pills filming (hence my face being cut out of half the video and the dopy look at the end) lol. It is what it is...

I think the scariest thing for me is the swelling and arthritis that is inevitable.

1000% im feeling this now in my ankle. No matter how much I exercise I still hear it crack and pop every day
@clrushing122 ай бұрын
@TheHealthyYinzer My surgeon said the popping is your ligaments realigning and it reverberates the sound throughout your whole leg like a guitar string. It's healing and getting comfortable again.

@TheHealthyYinzer9 ай бұрын
You will be able to walk again. It it’s important to give it time! You need to heal. Running is no longer an option. If I had to I guess I could but it’s nothing I want to do. The pain is there every day but it’s not as bad as what you are feeling right now

JUST FYI! Two things about a cane and crutches. If you use one crutch - it goes on the good leg side - same with a cane. When using crutches - do not put weight in your armpits - you can damage important nerves ! Pre-surgery if you have time to prepare, beef up your upper body strength. You’re going to need it. You’re welcome. PS Your physical therapist should be telling you these things!
