I had a pretty bad ankle injury and couldn't curl my toes at all. Got back to walking and still didnt feel right. Now I realized on my injured leg ive been swinging my leg forward as a walk and not using my toes or foot to brace and push off the ground. Its crazy how quickly we can forget to do something thats usually natural.

Best video I've watched so far, after ankle fracture and surgery, I've been trying to walk with out limping for a while I noticed I had lost the push off strength in my toe area, after watching this I'm walking with alot less pain and minimal limping. Thank you 😊

Amazing! Recovering from PTTD and everyone has been focused on my ankle, but my toes are not functioning properly. Thanks to the generosity of professionals like yourself who share their knowledge here on KZbin, my toes, arch and metatarsal are finally starting to wake up (and my ankle is grateful for this). Your video is a key one and I practice every day what you have taught me. Thank you soooo much, you are helping me turn such an important corner as I kept irritating my ankle because of the dysfunction in my toes/arch.

Great video and easy to follow! I sprained my rt foot at work( classic turf toe- first metatarsal sprain), then before that totally healed, fell down the stairs, sprained my left ankle, and resprained my right. In between I got Covid. I was on cough meds when I fell. These look like very important exercises for proprioception, balance, and strength. Thank you!

I had ankle surgery exactly a month ago. Seen my dr 2 weeks post op and was put in a boot was told to start slowly weight bearing. I wore the boot consistently for about a week and now i walk with out the boot fully weight bearing just have a limp. He didn’t tell me exactly how long to have the boot on some of my family is worried I’m moving too quick is this normal for me to be moving this quick. I’m 31 y/o and pretty healthy if that helps. Just not sure if i should keep wearing the boot or do with out it. I wears crocs and compression sock when i don’t have my boot.

I had a small fracture on the top part of my right ankle, however I was wearing ankle boots when my right foot boot, got caught in my left trouser leg and I fell down the stairs, in a restaurant ...not the restaurants fault, mine for running quickly to use the rest room. I was given an X-ray then a boot to wear for 6-8 weeks, I still was having very bad swelling and so went to my Dr, straight to hospital another X-ray, which showed the fracture had healed, now this month I am 4 months since the injury, now my dr wants another 2 x-rays or from each ankle ....when she knows nothing fractured or broken, it’s damaged tendons and ligaments, my concern is putting my body through unnecessary X-ray when damage seems to be still from tissue damage, ligaments tendons...I am looking for what type of footwear to be wearing, I do not wear tennis shoes, but need to not wear sandals, I have been told, however living on very warm hot Island is difficult to wear closed shoes. Love your exercises am doing my own rehabilitation as still not been sent for rehab ...Thank you. I don’t take any painkillers even when I suffered from the fracture, I also wouldn’t take blood thinners medications, I do everything without chemicals into my body...so do you think having 2 xrays which do not show tissues ligaments etc is the right way to go..thank you.

I find that starting to walk it's best for me to use 2 crutches that are set to longer position ,and as soon as I put the bad foot that cannot handle my full weight , the longer crutch takes over ant compensates it by lifting me up by the armpits.

Hi Gunjan! 👋 We are so sorry to hear that you injured both ankles and had surgery! It's very hard to pinpoint when you will be able to walk again as so many factors depend on it, like the severity of the injury, consistency of physical therapy, nutrition, and other medical factors. Generally, it can take up to 3 to 4 months to fully recover, but it could take longer in other cases. It can be a frustrating process but try to be as patient with yourself as possible. You do not want to push yourself and risk re-injuring yourself. This video will be good once you are able to stabilize yourself. We wish you all the best in your road to recovery! We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!🧡

I see you have answered some questions in the comments and since social anxiety have made is so that I havent sought help again after a severely sprained ankle that's 4/5 months old and after 4 visits to healthcare and little help + some outright dismisses the anxiety only got worse.. I noticed how I barely have strength to grab the ground with my toes (especially the 3 middle toes) but I know it's a slow but steady work with rehabilitating that get's the job done. But my question is if I should do these exercises since the injury is so old? Persistent swelling occurs but it is not something isolated to my foot, more of a me putting on water weight and having bad joints.. thank you for these videos nonetheless!

@epmanualphysicaltherapy
@epmanualphysicaltherapy 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Bts, sorry to hear about your right ankle sprain :-( This often happens after bed rest with ankles. The joint is likely just very stiff and needs to be freed up. You likely need to warm up your ankle before you put weight on it. Try moving your ankle all the way up and then all the way down 20-30 times. Make sure to move your toes up and down too. Then move your ankle left and right, using your toes too - 20-30 times. This won't cure the problem 100% right away, but if you do this right before standing up, you should see that your ankle will begin to tolerate standing and walking better each day. Be sure to apply the info from this video while you begin to walk more. If your ankle is not responding to this, then you might not be completely healed from the ankle sprain yet.

@@edwinasco5570 I couldn't walk for 2.5 months. I was crawling at some point. But I didn't go to the doctor and let my bones heal naturally. I did yoga for legs only. Two weeks ago, I started walking using a walker then few days after with a cane. A week ago, I managed to walk without cane but I still wear compression sock. I'm still limping a bit but I have managed to go out not using the cane. I feel the continuous healing every day. I also took collagen and Vitamin D3. I still feel lucky because I'm already 39 and thought it would take longer to heal. You will get better in time, just rest and when you are allowed to exercise your foot even in bed, do it every day. 🙏
