First time watching *CHRISTMAS VACATION* - 1989 - reaction/review

This is our first time watching "National Lampoon's - Christmas Vacation" starring Chevy Chase, and Beverly D'Angelo from 1989. This video is intended to give our own personal review and is edited in such a format to abide by the copyright laws for fair use. I have to say this is one of the funniest Christmas movies I’ve ever seen, and I’m glad we watched it. I’ll be revisiting this one every Christmas. This movie had me laughing the whole way and even through editing. The sledding scene was my fav 😂 -Ash

Every since this movie came out I have a holiday tradition. On Christmas Eve I watch this movie with a fine imported cigar and a glass of rye whiskey after enjoying a light supper. Then on Christmas Day I am thankful I do not have to go through the bull crap the Griswolds go through, even though most of their problems are self inflicted.

Russ is played Johnny Galecki aka Leonard from the TBBT. Margo is Julia Louis Dreyfus. Clarks boss is Brian Doyle Murray. Bills Murrays brother. Brian was in the first vacation movie and Caddyshack. Randy Quaid also did Independence Day.

This has always been a staple in our house every Christmas. It's actually the third installment out of the 4 Vacation movies. The original "Vacation" (1983) and European Vacation (1985) are funny too.

Fun Fact: Clark (Chevy Chase) uses thirty words to describe his boss. Final Bow Fact: Final film of Mae Questel, whose film career began in 1930, as the voice of Betty Boop. What Script Fact: Beverly D'Angelo improvised grabbing Chevy Chase's crotch when the SWAT team held up the house. She later said she did it on only one take, on the off chance it could make the film's final cut, which is what happened. Location Location Fact: The house in which the neighbors, Todd (Nicholas Guest) and Margo (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), live in is the same house where the Murtaugh family lived in all four Lethal Weapon movies. The houses on this street are on the Warner Brothers backlot. Signature Joke Fact: After Clark Griswold unsuccessfully attempts to demonstrate his handiwork with the house Christmas lights to his family, he asks Rusty (Johnny Galecki) to help him check all the light bulbs again. Rusty looks at his bare wrist, pretending to have a watch, and excuses himself. Looking at a bare wrist and pretending to have a watch is one of Chevy Chase's trademark gags.

Clark's boss is played by Brian-Doyle Murray, one of the brothers of Bill Murray. Brian and Bill were in 1980's Caddyshack. Bill's other brothers are Joel, John, and their late older brother, Ed, who died in 2020.

It's called 'Christmas Vacation' because it's the third movie after 'Vacation' and 'European Vacation'. It's not an actual Christmas vacation, just the 'Vacation' movie series Christmas movie.

In the big rant scene the other actors had Chevy's lines written on placards so he wouldn't get his lines out of order. 6. Living next door to them must be kind of like living next door to the Bundys. 7. Fun fact; Chase actually hurt his hand karate chopping the reindeer. 8. Clark's boss is Brian-Doyle-Murphy (Bill Murry's brother) calls him greaseball when he drops off his gift.🤣 He doesn't get his name right until the end. 9. Ellen is played by Beverly DeAngelo. She also played in "Every Which way but Loose" with Clint Eastwood and in "Hair". EWWBL would be a great first-time share but "Hair" would give you copywrite issues. Finally, she has a couple of kids with Al Pacino. I like her better than the sales girl.😍😋🥰 10. This IS my Christmas movie every year 11. Fun fact: This is the only Vacation where Audrey is older than Rusty. 12. Clark is going to need that 20% bonus to repair the house.🥺 13.
