That would explain why when you drink a can of purified water in Survival Mode (in FO4), you can't keep the empty can to refill it since it is now seen as a spent cap. It just disappears from your inventory entirely.

Ghouls are humans mutated by ungodly amounts of radiation. Their physiology is altered to be healed of their wounds when in the presence of radiation and they are immune to most diseases. This makes ghouls functionally immortal; no one has ever found a ghoul who died of old age. There are drawbacks, however, most notably looking like a corpse, as well as a certain condition that affects some but not all ghouls…

Just adding the biggest question everyone asks "what happen to their nose". In a nutshell prolonged exposure to radiation causes the softer tissues, such as the nose and ears decay and "fall off".

Yeah, basically every time they "heal" it's imperfect or incomplete. So the longer they live, the more damage they sustain, the more disfigured they become. And if the damage is serious enough, they do actually 💀.

In FO4, if you take Hancock as a companion and ask him how he became a ghoul, he will tell you that it was the result of a drug. He'll say he used to party a lot, and then one night someone offered him a chem that he had never seen before. He'll tell you that at that time in his life he was very depressed and angry and didn't care what the chem might do to him so he took it. The next day he woke up a ghoul.

There are "tons" of ghouls alive from before the war throughout the games. They don't age. Not only ghouls either, there are lots of people alive for lots of different reasons.

Hahaha great reaction again. I legit lol'd at the start when you were talking about disliking gore and knowing the head-pop was coming up. 1. Caps are the currency because (going back to last episode comment) Nuka-Cola plants aren't running any more and no more bottle caps are being made so there is a finite amount of them in the world and thus they can represent a stable base currency without fear of inflation. 2. The bag situation you mention is a nod to the games where players will pick up every bit of junk they can until they are over-encumbered and unable to move, and also that in game you can get a companion that travels with you and players load them down with all the gear and junk instead so the player can move at full speed again 3. Maximus is an ass and sucks, am sure someone would be able to explain that he has some sort of arc where his power trip is explainable based on being picked on but yeah, he sucks :D

The bottle caps being currency originated from a community called The Hub. They used them because you can’t make any more than there already are unless you can fix a bottle cap machine. The Hub is the only place with a working bottle cap machine so they can control the cap economy and prevent inflation. Caps are worth about $10 usd per cap. So Maximus was charged about $60. The pre war economy was suffering from severe inflation so they had to change to a different currency. The NCR uses their own bills they print and an NCR dollar is worth $4 USD. All currencies are backed by bottles of clean water. The cooper hating Vault Tec thing is explained later.

There's a mission in New Vegas to dismantle the Sunset Sarsaparilla bottling machine and there was a counterfeit bottlecap machine in the Wasteland too.

After the war bottlecaps became money because they were all over the place. Their value comes from being backed up by the water faction who have access to clean water. So instead of a "gold" standard they have a water standard. Norm becomes a standout character for me by the end of the series. The best way to understand Maximus is to understand his upbringing was guided by a fanatical religious order, he truly believes in their ideals, which Titus did not live up to. The brotherhood DID NOT build the suits, they are pre war technology, that is why the ghoul knows about them, he used one when he was in the marines. Though probably a different model. The gulpers guts are pulled out because Maximus pulled out the anchor that was stuck in its guts.

Well, we are told in the first episode that Coop is divorced from his vife from Vault-Tec. That might explain why we have Vault Boy and not Coop being on advertisements any more Other than that: While some amphibians can indeed have its guts pulled out/vomit them up, this is not at all how it looks

The gore is intentionally over the top and almost comedic. It's meant to juxtapose the brutality of war, violence as spectacle versus violence as tragedy. It makes more sense in the games, since you are the perpetrator of the violence instead of a passive observer, but it kinda works here as well, since the expected reaction from the audience is to find the gore entertaining to watch.

In the game the vaultsuits do indeed block radation, but only a very small amount.

Most technologies in this show are salvaged pre war tech that they maintain, not built. All the power armor suits are pre war, same with the pip boys on their wrists and most other things. Theres not a lot of people creating new tech in the world of fallout, save for a few factions with the resources to do so.

The power armor was made before the bombs fell 200 years ago... The Brotherhood of Steel was form out of military units just after the bombs fell.

That’s actually not 100% correct. The power armor the brotherhood uses (T-60) is prewar, but the Enclave developed power armor like the X02 after the bombs dropped.

2:42 from the explanation given by Three Dogs, DJ in Fallout 3: ghouls are people who have absorbed a huge dose of radiation and were not lucky enough to die. their appearance changes and they look like zombies from old horror films, they live a long time, hundreds of years, radiation has no effect on them but over time they become feral. I've always wondered if ghouls felt pain, because they were transformed by exposure to an enormous amount of radiation that made them become radioactive themselves, so it's as if they lived inside a microwave oven that constantly cooks them. in the scene where Lucy asks for water, I believe that the ghoul was deciding whether or not to let her drink the water that was in the canteen, because most likely that water was also radioactive, as ghouls are immune to radioactivity, so not giving it to her at that time and in a way it only did her some good, even though she was dying of thirst.

There are probably multiple different mutations that all gives the same general look but everyone just calls them all ghouls because they can’t see the difference.

@@probablysomeguy4806 while that is a fair point, I can only judge by what is shown. So far, whatever their intent is, they have not shown this. They have only given the indication that without the meds, they end up feral. So I accept your claim as to what has been indicated outside of the show, but for me, until they show something within the show, it is like a myth of rumour - not yet a solid fact. As soon as they choose to show otherwise, then it will be solidified. I accept that some may have more information that the show has provided and I respect that, but for me, I stay within the world that has been presented and no more than that.
