Did you notice that when Coop questioned his wife about what she said about "a good Vault", she hesitated as if she thought she had said too much, then diverted the conversation? Later at the dinner table the conversation about dogs in the vault and color of the vault suit, she diverted the conversation again, even becoming angry.

Interesting to note that in the argument about dogs in the vault, she doesn't answer any of his questions, just deflects and casts guilt.

The one eye, and other mutations, recall what the scientist in the commercial said vault fours purpose is, testing the effects of radiation on human DNA. Also the scientist in the commercial was named Hawthorne just like the R&D lab on the surface. Did you notice Maxs room was shown in the commercial. IMO Moldaver is alive because she had her own shelter equipped with a Cryogenic suspension pod, like the ones on Fours level twelve. Also cryo suspension is a part of fallout canon. The vaults don't communicate to prevent contaminating their individual societies. Vault four, things are not always what they seem. Lucy fails her sneak test.

The bombs in ep1 were conventional air burst detonations,...the initial flash is seen 100-200m in the air, then the firestorm and mushroom cloud follow. The bomb at Shady Sands leaving the big crater was probably ground detonation,...probably still dropped, but with the intention of maximum infrastructure damage, rather than creating a firestorm. In the games, the Chinese use a variety of sizes of bombs and launch methods, some air burst and some that leave craters,...the Chinese tech in 2077 is nothing like as advanced as 2024 IRL, and both Chinese and US bombs look like the 1945 atom bombs rather than modern ballistic missiles, so the yield is also pretty low in comparison to our real world 100s of megatons. Bombs are used at a 'tactical' level from mini nukes with a fraction of a kilo tonne, through to bigger battlefield size in different games, all based of the real world 40's and 50's technology and science fiction rather than what anyone might imagine could really happen today. Maximus survives on the edge of a detonation by hiding in a fridge for example,...the sort of 'duck and cover' survival advice that was given right in to the Cold War.
