I worked for 3 days on this film as an extra in the wedding scenes at the end. I got to work with all the stars except Burgess Merideth as he had wrapped his shooting prior to me being on set. Had a wonderful 1/2 hour chat with Jack Lemon during lunch one day. Great memories.

Pops is indeed the best. 😎 Speaking of Burgess Meredith... Trivia: This was Burgess Meredith's last film. He died of complications of Alzheimer's disease on September 9, 1997. He showed symptoms at the time of this movie's filming, and had to be coached during each scene in which he appeared. Meredith's acting talents are evident despite his failing mental faculties.

He truly was one of a kind and he brought a whole lot to these films for sure.

These two guys, in these two films, are my favorite. When you were talking about “Pops” being your spirit animal, i knew you were not going to be happy with his passing. Great reaction.

it's always good to see more people finding these movies and realizing how great they were, underrated would be criminally exaggerated, these are the buried gold that Hollywood has lost to time! RIP to Matthau, Lemmon and Meredith, 3 stars who only got better with age.

tbh Pops had to die so that those damn kids would put their little spat behind them, and fix everything. he had to break the fight up before did he not? Pops is the only one that they would BOTH listen to, besides he was 95, it was his time.

Burgess Meredith was definitely one of the great actors of his time. Another well known role he had was in the first three films of the "Rocky" franchise as Mickey Goldmill, Rocky's trainer and coach.

Rocky is my #1 favorite film of all time! And I adore the entire franchise and the Creed one too. Meredith was also The Penguin in the Adam West Batman series. Each famous actor who has brilliantly played The Joker can argue who has the best take on the "Joker laugh", but Meredith's Penguin squawk-laugh is unmatched!

Iv'e seen this before and I knew Pops was going to die but it brought me to tears. Two months ago my Grampa died at the age of 96. Burgess reminds of Grampa he was independent right til the end, living in his own apartment, still driving and enjoying life. He took a fall and died two days later. It was sad but we should all be so lucky to live that long with that independence.

I was going to ask you to please make an exception for the movie The-Out-of-Towners because it's from 1970 not the 80's or 90's. It stars Jack Lemon and Sandy Dennis and is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen! There is also The Odd Couple with Lemon and Matthau which is a classic!!! And there is The Sunshine Boys with Walter Matthau and George Burns, another classic! But in my opinion if you are going to see any of them, it needs to be The-Out-of-Towners. Lemon and Matthau also made Out To Sea and The Odd Couple II after they made Grumpier Old Men. Neither are as good as the Grumpy movies but Out To Sea comes closest and they are still worth watching. Best Regards!!!
@katreacts68433 жыл бұрын
@@Drawkcabi I can make an exception :) I have seen the poster for The Out Of Towners, starring Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn, but I have never seen that one. I didn't know there was another one before that :)
@Drawkcabi3 жыл бұрын
@@katreacts6843 Yep, the Steve Martin one is a remake and as much as I like both him and Goldie Hawn, it's very inferior to the original film. For a much better Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn movie I suggest House Sitter. The original The-Out-of-Towners is a gem of a movie. It's director Arthur Hiller has made many movies I love! Silver Streak Hear No Evil, See No Evil Teachers Taking Care of Business The Babe But if you see only one movie of his, see The-Out-of-Towners! Best Regards!

Was gonna be a third called grumpiest old men but unfortunately the great walter matthau had passed away, makes you wonder what the premise for the third film was about seeing as the first was overall about gustafson being in love and getting married the second was about max being in love and getting married so what was the main idea for grumpiest. Maybe both families rivaling about something important as each pranks the others ect who knows seeing as the main cast including both kids are a couple and no more room for falling in love plot, unless they had plans to do a time skip to where everyone is older including the young daughter from her failed relationship but it makes you wonder the possibilities.

Ann Margaret & Sophia Loren - who could ask for anything more. Well, Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau & Burgess Meredith. Accomplished actors who are always on top of their game. They all combine to make this film a treasure. Trivia (but not trivial) - Sophia defied her stereotype and won an Oscar for her role in Two Women.

There are a couple of other films with Burgess Meredith that were all grand exercises and convinced me that sometimes - simply puttinga classic actor into the film - makes the whole film classier to begin with.

At your reaction to Grumpier Old Men, you cut off the movie too soon and missed all the outtakes. Here they all are at this video link. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnebpKKnjcRpodk
@katreacts68432 жыл бұрын
I watched the outtakes and I loved it :) But KZbin is a funny thing you see, sometimes I get away with almost a half an hour-long video, sometimes I have to cut them down to almost nothing to avoid copyright claims. And so, to take no chances, I try to only show what is relevant to the story, in order for my viewers to get some context (especially for those who may not have seen the film in its entirety before). This means sometimes cutting out stuff that I wished I could keep in, such as outtakes :) But I assure you, I watched and I loved :D
