The one problem with the movies is that they take a bunch of Ron's dialogue and give it to Hermione, because Hermione is the "smart one", which leaves Ron to just be comedic. In the books Ron was the one that explained Wizarding society to Harry all the time, while Hermione was "book smart".

@@7thlittleleopard7 www.mugglenet.com/2015/09/7-times-hermione-granger-took-ron-weasleys-lines-in-the-movies/ Read this please. I disagree with you. Ron is the one who takes them into the wizarding world. He is the one who tells them about customs, normalities. He shares what he has to offer, family, love and friendship. In addition, Book Ron always stands up for his friends, especially Hermione. He talks back to Sneep when Sneep is nasty to her, and he curses Malfoy when Malfoy calls Hermione a mudblood. In addition, he does think about things. If you've read the books several times, you'll see the pattern: He's Always (Accidentally) Right. In the second book, he muses that Tom Riddle might have killed Moaning Myrtle (he did). In the third book, he wonders if the big black dog Harry keeps seeing has something to do with Sirius Black (it does). In the seventh book, he begs Harry to stop saying Voldemort's name because he feels cursed (he does). Throughout the books, Ron accidentally predicts what is about to happen. Granted, most of them are coincidences, but Ron seems to have good instincts and is pretty smart. OK, he's not as book smart as Hermione. He and Harry are both seen as average students. One of the thinks is that Ron is great at chess.- why is that? Because he has a strong strategic brain. When he's not trying to reduce tension with his jokes, which is a social strength. He's the one who thinks of certain thinks. For example: he think about getting some basilisk tusks for horcrux-bashing during the Battle of Hogwarts, and he's the one who tells Hermione to cast a fire spell when they're entangled by a giant plant way back in book one. He'll never be top of the class, he doesn't like reading or to study, (that's understandable a lot of us don't) but he's not an idiot, he is smart in different ways and he's great in many ways. So getting back to your statement, I think Ron is also MVP because he is also " when it comes to lots of information and common sense." and invaluable as a friend and character.

The movies did Ron dirty.

They gave her very little actions/words that belong to ron, that could possibly be the only instance. One the other hand they gave ron a lot of chances to shine that aren’t in the books, for example he doesn’t trick tyger and goyle to free his friends from umbridge, that never happens, and it’s not him that figures out the RAB thing, harry does...

And that was a very powerful moment that showed Ron's loyalty. In the books it's Ron who explains things about the magical world, that Harry and Hermione have no way of knowing. House-Elfs actually possess magic that are far, FAR, *FAR,* more powerful any Wizard's, but because of their race, they are treated like slaves. And most of the House-Elfs consider it a priviledge to serve, with only a very few disliking it. Within the story, Dobby is actually the only House-Elf who didn't like having a master.
@tyrealmal20043 жыл бұрын
What about house elf magic seems 'far, FAR, *FAR*, more powerful [than] any Wizard's'? We see them use magic far _different_ than a wizards, as evidence by their ability to teleport within Hogwarts grounds and past other anti-apparition jinx's (not unlike a phoenix), and we see them perform magic without wands (a feat goblin's share), but we don't _actually_ see any evidence that they are more powerful; let alone to the degree you imply. A more _reasonable_ Watsonian interpretation would be either that their magic, or at least the way they are forced to use it in the absence of wands, is sufficiently different that it isn't blocked by the same jinxes that block apparition, *or* that they are intentionally left with backdoors to teleport in and out because they aren't seen as a threat and a servant that can appear at your side in an instant is more convenient then one that needs to walk to do your bidding.

Alan Rickman is so amazing!! I love him! Also, I wouldn’t google anything, you’ll probably get spoiled. Just read the book if you’re confused. But basically Tom put a memory of himself into his personal diary he had during his time at school, and the actual Tom continued to live on and become the Voldemort we know until he was defeated by Harry in 1981, but he was able to survive and come back for the Sorcerer’s Stone. That’s why the Tom in the diary looks so young because it was a memory of himself around 16. He’s a static memory of his time at Hogwarts.

I stumbled across your first video on the Harry Potter series while looking for a video to put on in the background while I did some translation work, but I actually ended up putting off my work and just watching you react to the movie! You have such a genuine and beautiful smile that it makes me smile as well, and seem like such a kind, genuine, compassionate, and gentle soul. I inexplicably became so much happier by watching your reactions. Thank you so much for your videos because they have just made my day!

The reason Hermione didn't hug Ron at the end was actually because Emma Watson was too embarrassed to hug both Daniel and Rupert. They also had to slow down her hug with Daniel in post because she always broke it too soon every take. (I literally learned all this yesterday)

The legendary John Williams did the score for the first two, I believe? The piece in the intro is "Hedwig's Theme" and it just classic.
@lisamarieligreci-newton78043 жыл бұрын
He did 3 too, and it's one of my favorites. I believe he couldn't commit to the others (he was also scoring the Star Wars prequels at the time - there are actually a lot of similarities and even music that sounds flat out reused between the Quidditch match and the speeder chase in Attack off the Clones). I love Williams, although I do also enjoy the other scores (which have a darker, more grounded feel in some ways).

No one ever talks about how Lucius was LITERALLY ABOUT TO MURDER DOBBY OR HARRY.
@The.Conqueeftador3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, I've never heard anybody talk about the fact lucius was about to cast avada kadavra (probably butchered the spelling of that😅)
@tyrealmal20043 жыл бұрын
Apparently it was actually a mind fart on the part of Jason Isaacs that made that scene take such a dark turn. He was supposed to cast SOMETHING, but in the moment the killing curse was the only spell that came to the actors mind. Afterward the director was like 'man, that took an unsettling turn' but decided to keep it because he liked how unhinged it made Lucius look under his veneer of civility. Parts of the back and forth between Lucius and Harry in Dumbledore's office were also improvised, but I can't remember which parts aside from Harry's 'count on it' quip and the kick that sent Dobby sprawling.
@danielaf30923 жыл бұрын
If true, another proof that the director had no idea wth he was doing. Imagine killing Harry Potter in Hogwarts with Dumbledore nearby. Lucius wasn't that loyal to Voldemort that he would destroy his life like that. He wasn't even sure that the Dark Lord would return so it's a stupid decision and definitely not in character.

One quick note: The actor who played Dumbledore in this film and the last one, Richard Harris, died of Hodgkins lymphoma about two weeks before this film was released, so that's why you'll see a different actor, Michael Gambon, from the next one on.

Just another thing regarding Hermione: They exaggerated her skills almost to the point of infallibility in the movies, all for pushing an "GIrLpoWeR yasss slay queeen" agenda and to the disadvantage of other characters (especially Ron, who got downgraded to a bumbling comic relief sidekick) . They basically gave her lines from other characters (The one about fear of the name increases fear of the thing itself? Dumbledore said that) to make her appear even smarter and, especially in the first two movies, exaggerated her magical abilities and coolheaded-Ness in dangerous situations. Book Hermione is brilliant and all, but NOT infallible^^

Yes, she even didn't know what 'mudblood' means, Ron actually explained it to them...and in the first movie Ron panicked when caught in devil's snare while in the book it was Hermione who panicked

fun fact 1) the line "no worries, I will be" was improvised by Dan (Harry Potter) 2) so was Tom Felton's (Draco) line ("didn't know you could read!") 3)if you watch closely, you can see Malfoy senior taking one book out of Ginny's kettle at Flourish and Blotts and sliding two books back into it, so there you go ;)

I love your first reaction so I’m watching this on as well! I loved your reactions! Just somethings I found funny and some answers to your questions! I love his reaction to Vernon grabbing Harry’s leg out the window! (About Ron driving the car) Ron would have been 12 years old and Fred and George (His older twin brothers) are in the car. But they aren’t of age either.. they are flying the car. This car is Ron’s dad’s and he enchanted the muggle car to fly. Remember that cars are a ‘muggle creation’ and not a wizard creation, therefore wizards didn’t know there was a law until they needed to be more like a muggle when they grew up. To wizards there was no law on when you could drive the car. “Thank you, thank you! You’re always useful!” - Yep! You are not / have not miss read Draco’s Father (Lucius Malfoy) Filch’s letter is explained I the books. Filch is know as a ‘squib’ which is a name for a person born into a magical family with no magical blood running through their veins… the letter is about a course that Filch wants to take so he has some magical talent. (It’s not a good thing to be a squib) *claps* “Hermione does it again… She should be teaching this class!” They didn’t put real slugs in Ron, or I should say Rupert Grints’s, mouth… and the slimy texture on the slugs had flavouring like chocolate so they weren’t disgusting to have in your mouth. In the interviews about the Chamber of Secrets, Rupert explained that it was quite nice actually because of the flavouring. Harry had detention with Lockhart because, in the book, Lockhart believes that Harry is trying to be famous like him and do things like signing photos and entering school in a cool way… (The flying car), so Lockhart asks if Harry can serve detention with him instead. “Can you stop breaking those glasses!” - Yes that would be helpful! To answer your question - “why wouldn’t they hug each other?” - Well, Emma Watson who plays Hermione was actually too embarrassed to hug boys back then… so they changed the script so Hermiones character only had to hug Harry and hesitate to hug Ron. This actually hinted perfectly for the feelings between Ron and Hermione’s character that was to come. (In the book she hugs both of them) Thanks! Hoped this helped!

Great reactions - keep it coming! :-) No spoilers from me. But FYI, the author of the books (J.K. Rowling) knew the full story line in her head before she started writing the first book. What happened in this movie is very important to the overall story line, but it will only be fully explained in book/movie 6 (The Half-Blood Prince). This is probably the most consistent and logical book series I've ever read. If you like the movies and if you like reading, definitely give the books a go after you've finished watching the movies. The movies are good, but the books are *fantastic*, IMHO.

There's a thing I didnt noticed when I watched the movie (for a long time by the way) till I've read the book: Gina received that book from Lucio Malfoy in Diagon Alley and she used it all the year as a diary. Tom know he could use her to do what he wanted, so he supposed to be a friend who helped her with "girl's things" like "liking Harry Potter as a secret". That's how he won her confidence and stole her energy

Between Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, actually. The script had Hermione was hugging Ron too in that scene, but Emma got nervous about it and the director thought her awkward handshake was better so it made it in as is. Convenient that it ended up working well as foreshadowing, but that was just a happy accident :P
