I like the theory that Oren and The Bride were really good friends. 1. The bride knows her origin story and Oren isn’t really the type to tell that to anyone 2. The bride is fluent in Japanese 3. When the bride kills her she never turns back and looks at Oren 4. Also maybe that’s why Oren is the first on her list because they were besties idk

I think this is confirmed by the fact that she calls Oren out in Chinese, rather than Japanese. It's an especially deep cut and perfectly illustrates the depth of betrayal that the Bride must have felt.

Also, despite O-Ren trying to wear The Bride down with her minions, when they finally fought, they both fought honorably. After O-Ren cut The Bride, she gave her time to get her breath back and get back on her feat, when she probably could have finished her off. After The Bride got her first cut on O-Ren, she waited until O-Ren was ready, and while recovering, O-Ren apologized for mocking her earlier, and The Bride accepted that apology. Both knew that the next cut would likely end the fight, and both were ready. That scene is written and played so well...

I love this movie so much. The fight sequences are incredible and The Bride and O-Ren are such badasses. The insinuated former relationship between them is some of the best read between the lines storytelling in cinema.

Fun fact, there was supposed to be an animated film about Oren Ishii and her story (an expansion on the animation here) but it’s one of many Kill Bill themed projects that Tarantino just never pursued. Can’t wait for Vol. 2!

@@thefr33kyshowTo be fair, the Bride didn’t bring any weapons, and attacked Vernita on her own turf, so I think it was more than fair. Secondly, a handgun is very inaccurate in general, and shooting one out of a cereal box without aiming has a low chance of scoring a hit at even a short distance. Thirdly, Vernita attacked The Bride when she was clearly pregnant, so trying to use her own child as leverage was really more motive for The Bride’s revenge, so I think justice was served. Lastly, her skin color is completely incidental and irrelevant to the story, and I think Jackie Brown shows how much QT loves him some black ladies, because Jackie is one of his most badass characters ever IMO. 😁

Man this movie was *explosive* in the theater. Everybody cheered numerous times & loudly groaned at gross stuff🤭. But in the best way. The noise of Gogo’s meteor hammer (chain mace) slicing the air, circling around her head I hear whenever I think of Kill Bill. It was so heavy & menacing. Of all the noises…it’s that noise I think of first. And the Bride’s kill noise second. So good to see someone else flippin’ love it, too.🖖

Chu! So glad you were finally able to watch this classic. Def my favorite QT film and the fight with Vivica gives me life each time. I know you are getting back on your horror movie kick so I would also recommend "Grindhouse," a double feature QT did with Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, From Dusk Til Dawn, etc.) that features "Planet Terror" and "Deathproof," both of which fit into the horror genre. Can't wait for Vol. 2! ⚔

Honestly one of the best movies out there. It was iconic from the first time it screened. The style of the poster made it stand out. It will never not be amazing. Im so glad you enjoyed. Also loved watching you watch all those shocking moments. The first time you see it its jarring. Loved the reaction and was agreeing with everything you said. Youll find out the brides name in volume 2. And honestly only the wish to kill bill and pure revenge anger allowed her to kill so many people hahah. Wouldve loved an o-ren standalone movie but i think Quentin said he'll never make another kill bill movie. I remember there being some controversy between Uma and Quentin. Because of that she said she wont work with him again. Someone correct me if im wrong. I remember there being a car accident from filming a scene in a movie and it happening because Uma's wishes were not respected. Anyway Love you Chu!!❤

So true. That was my brother's exact reaction when the Bride got Oren. Bullshit that some white woman would defeat an Asian woman who has been literally killing since she was a child. 👏🏼👏🏼 The movie is still awesome though. The 2nd one is good as well. And GoGo was the one who truly gave her a fight and most of the time, she was half assin it. If she gave her all, she would have murked the Bride.

This movie is about revenge. You could say literally the same thing about Oren as a child. There's no way a little girl could kill a bunch of criminals alone, but she's was motivated by revenge. Same has the Bride
