I'm glad you enjoyed this. The main problem most people have is that Po retiring and Zhen getting the title goes against Oogway's vision. Plus Chameleon's villain motive makes no sense when you remember Mantis exists, and the film's theme of change feels half baked. But if you like it for what it is, that's perfectly fine. The ending, to me at least, makes no sense. Why would Tai Lung say that Po deserves to be the Dragon Warrior, when the guy literally murdered him and Tai Lung has emotional trauma that pushed him to believe that only he was worthy of the title? We know that spirits can hold grudges because Kai spent 500 years in the spirit realm preparing to get revenge against Oogway, so what the hell?! I think that Tai Lung should've been released from the spirit realm in the beginning of Act 2 or something, then he joins Po to take down the Chameleon but they don't *immediately* get along and Tai Lung gets a proper redemption arc. Maybe Po even makes him the new Dragon Warrior, AS THAT WAS HIS ENTIRE MOTIVATION IN THE FIRST FILM! Also, Kai just being ok with returning to the spirit realm is just hilarious 🤣. Realistically, he would've just jumped Po after the Chameleon was defeated then feasted on the Chi buffet that is the other villains 😂.........WAIT A MINUTE! How the hell is Kai even there?! At the end of the third movie, he got overloaded with Chi and then disappeared from the spirit realm, presumably getting erased from existence! HOW IS HE THERE?!

Tai lung believed he was the only one worthy of being the dragon warrior, so seeing po defeat the chameleon whilst she had everyone else’s kung fu showed him that po was worthy of being the dragon warrior. For Kai, I guess it doesn’t really matter what happens to you, your spirit will always end up in the spirit realm.

Him believing that only he was worthy was caused by Shifu conditioning him from birth (almost) to strive for nothing but the Dragon Warrior title. I really doubt that just seeing Po is more powerful would undo all of that (idk maybe it would, I'm not a psychologist 😄). Idk But for Kai, after his spirit got overloaded with Chi, he completely disappeared from the spirit realm. It wouldn't really be a satisfying conclusion if he just reappeared.

The furious 5 were not in it. Villain motivation was non-sense in the overarching story ... and many people hated on the whole fox VA thing. Overall it was a solid movie, not as good as the first three as well as little formulaic but not awful. You also must take account that at about the time this movie would be in late production there was a long VA and Writer strike that could have effected the movie too. Solid 6 or 7/10. Not garbage but also not something I would choose to replay for the fun of it.

The movie is okay. It’s definitely the weakest KFP movie by far. I guess the plot itself was something I didn’t enjoy. By that, I mean Shifu telling Po to choose another Dragon Warrior. As far as I’m aware the Dragon Warrior is supposed to be almost like a mythical figure so choosing a new one is already weird. Even if you want to do this plot line the least they could do is age him up more so it makes sense. He’s like 30 at worst, still in his prime. Still I don’t think it was THAT terrible especially compared to a certain other Dreamworks movie that came out around the same time.

ok much hate for this, and because of a friend saying "they nerfed Po", I was also almost a hater. but it was a great movie. yeah there are themes that don't get presented well, or not up to people's expectations but it was still enjoyable. what's great to me is that when someone told me that Po was nerfed i thought that it was something like Doctor Strange multiverse of madness type nerf, where Po becomes a side character just to "boost" the villain's impact. instead he was actually buffed since for me this is the best kung fu i have seen from Po out of all the movies. he didn't make as many mistakes as he did in the other movies, here the mistakes he makes were because enemies trip or force him to make mistakes. and so the actual nerf were the enchanted cages that i think absorb impact which is why he couldn't punch his way out of them. good movie for me in any case.

I think what makes me sad is there was potential, but it was wasted. Reasons I didn’t love this movie: 1. The Chameleon is a bad villain. Tai Lung and Shen were intimidating, and Kai, though the least interesting of the original trilogy, still left a big impression and was pretty funny. The only thing I remember about the Chameleon is her dumb motivation. “Too small for Kung fu”? When Mantis and Viper exist? 2. Tai Lung’s “redemption” made no sense. Why would he just respect Po after seeing him in this one fight? He was essentially there for fan service. And it frankly wasn’t very good fan service. 3. The humor is just so juvenile now. I get it “kids’ movie”, but some of the jokes were very clever in the original trilogy. 4. I understand that the lesson here was “Change is naturally the next step and you should embrace it”. I just feel the way it was executed didn’t have such a heavy impact as previous films. 5. I don’t like Zhen. Nothing against Awkwafina, I just don’t like her character. The Madagascar series is really fun. You guys should watch it.

They mentioned in an interview that a spin-off film focusing on the furious five is in the planning stage. Maybe it will come out before the fifth movie. In general I liked the fourth film, it is true that they could have implemented more things (They did not do it because of Mike Mitchell who preferred not to take into account the suggestions of the Co-Director who wanted to give a more serious touch to the film at the level of the second), even so I feel that it is a good message to be open to changes and that changing something does not always mean that it is wrong.

This movie, when they announced it, I too was a bit skeptical of how it will turn out since I’m pretty sure that the trilogy made Po come full circle. However, after giving it a shot, I was actually impressed how they pulled it off. The animation is more crisp than before, the antagonist was a interesting character and the story was not too shabby. The few things that satisfied me the most was Tai Lung’s return after so long and Hans Zimmer returning for the score. The fact that you guys caught the “Crazy Train” vibes from the chase sequence was very surprising because I sure as hell didn’t catch that the first time until some time later. When you also mentioned about adding to your playlist, I did that, as well. Perfect music to go with it. Till next time.

No emotional weight, no personal stakes, Po doesn't grow, no furious five, previous villain's "redemptions", lame villain that's barely more evil than a greedy ruler, Zhen's VA sounds like just someone speaking the lines, undermines all of Po's previous achivements for no reason other than to make stopping the chameleon seem more grandiose. Just off the top of my head. It's a turn off your brain film. People wouldn't hate on it if it was a generic movie, but it's a KFP sequel and people have high expectations for this franchise.

Not sure where you're coming from with no emotional weight. Po spent 3 movies coming into his own as the Dragon Warrior, and is now being told in his prime to retire by his master. By the end of the film he begins to take on more of a teaching role to the fox, there's your growth. Previous villains "redemption" is just them not being pissed off for all eternity. None of them say they regret what they did. But they're dead, how long as a spirit until you just stop being angry? They didn't get some redemption arc, didn't need one. They just accepted they were dead and ready to go back home. Po's previous achievements were undermined, but built upon. Everything he did pertained to the valley of peace. He left for this film, and people beyond the valley wouldn't know about him. If anything this gives more world building if the valley is just a small part of a bigger world. I can give you the lack of the furious five. They're a core part of the world and them being absent is fine to dislike. And if you don't like new characters, sure. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But besides that it was a good movie.

The movie didn't feel fleshed out because a huge chunk of the runtime was still focused on Po and his struggles instead of their conflicts. Not to mention the meant plot points that would've been beneficial were cut. Instead of tai lung and shifu confronting each other, shifu is just regressed to his characterization of the first movie. It just does not feel focused like the first 3.

everything i know about the scrapped ideas for this movie has made me just uninterested; I tried watching the first 10 minutes but i gave up after I found out the Furious 5 weren't going to be a big part of it. not to say i think this movie is bad, i dont know, i'm genuinely just ambivalent to it's existence. considering how much i loved the first three movies, i honestly want to want to watch it, but nothing has convinced me to spend the time required, hopefully someone has something that can convince me ◕⁠ ⁠ᴥ⁠ ⁠◕⁠

So it night not hit as hard if you havent watched the first three recently, and I'm not going to say anyone of them were masterpieces of thoughtful media per se, but the fact that I and others didnt gel with with movie is the lack of deepness it has. The first two had some POWERFUL moments that tugged at the audience, and the 3rd was great in it's own right. The fourth movie just feels like the first KIDS movie of the bunch if you get me.
